6:1
Προσέχετε δὲ τὴν δικαιοσύνην ὑμῶν μὴ ποιεῖν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι αὐτοῖς· εἰ δὲ μήγε, μισθὸν οὐκ ἔχετε παρὰ τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν τῷ ἐν οὐρανοῖς.
Attendite ne justitiam vestram faciatis coram hominibus, ut videamini ab eis : alioquin mercedem non habebitis apud Patrem vestrum qui in caelis est.
ወባሕቱ ዑቁ ምጽዋተክሙ ኢትግበሩ ለዐይነ ሰብእ ከመ ታስተርእዩ ሎሙ ወእመ አኮሰ ዐስብ አልብክሙ በኀበ አቡክሙ ዘበሰማያት።
“Be careful that you don’t do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
6:2
ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπροσθέν σου, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
Cum ergo facis eleemosynam, noli tuba canere ante te, sicut hypocritae faciunt in synagogis, et in vicis, ut honorificentur ab hominibus. Amen dico vobis, receperunt mercedem suam.
ወሶበሂ ትገብሩ ምጽዋተክሙ ኢትንፍሑ ቀርነ ቅድሜክሙ በከመ ይገብሩ መደልዋን በመኳርብት ወበአስኳት ወበፍናው ከመ ይትአኰቱ እምኀበ ሰብእ አማን እብለክሙ ኀጕሉ ዕሴቶሙ።
Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
6:3
σοῦ δὲ ποιοῦντος ἐλεημοσύνην μὴ γνώτω ἡ ἀριστερά σου τί ποιεῖ ἡ δεξιά σου,
Te autem faciente eleemosynam, nesciat sinistra tua quid faciat dextera tua :
ወአንተሰ ሶበ ትገብር ምጽዋተከ ኢታእምር ፀጋምከ ዘትገብር የማንከ።
But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does,
6:4
ὅπως ἡ σοῦ ἐλεημοσύνη ᾖ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ, καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει σοι.
ut sit eleemosyna tua in abscondito, et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscondito, reddet tibi.
ከመ በኅቡእ ይኩን ምጽዋትከ ወአቡከ ዘይሬእየከ በኅቡእ የዐስየከ ክሡተ።
so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
6:5
καὶ ὅταν προσεύχησθε, οὐκ ἔσεσθε ὡς οἱ ὑποκριταί· ὅτι φιλοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς γωνίαις τῶν πλατειῶν ἑστῶτες προσεύχεσθαι, ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
Et cum oratis, non eritis sicut hypocritae qui amant in synagogis et in angulis platearum stantes orare, ut videantur ab hominibus : amen dico vobis, receperunt mercedem suam.
ወሶበሂ ትጼልዩ ኢትኩኑ ከመ መደልዋን እስመ እሙንቱ ያፈቅሩ ቀዊመ ወጸልዮ በመኳርብት ወውስተ መዓዝነ መራሕብት ከመ ያስተርእዩ ለሰብእ አማን እብለክሙ ኀጕሉ ዕሴቶሙ።
“When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
6:6
σὺ δὲ ὅταν προσεύχῃ, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ ταμεῖόν σου καὶ κλείσας τὴν θύραν σου πρόσευξαι τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει σοι.
Tu autem cum oraveris, intra in cubiculum tuum, et clauso ostio, ora Patrem tuum in abscondito : et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscondito, reddet tibi.
ወአንተሰ ሶበ ትጼሊ ባእ ቤተከ ወዕፁ ኆኅተከ ወጸሊ ለአቡከ ሰማያዊ በኅቡእ ወአቡከ ዘይሬእየከ በኅቡእ የዐስየከ ክሡተ።
But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
6:7
Προσευχόμενοι δὲ μὴ βατταλογήσητε ὥσπερ οἱ ἐθνικοί, δοκοῦσιν γὰρ ὅτι ἐν τῇ πολυλογίᾳ αὐτῶν εἰσακουσθήσονται.
Orantes autem, nolite multum loqui, sicut ethnici, putant enim quod in multiloquio suo exaudiantur.
ወእንዘ ትጼልዩ ኢትዘንግዑ ከመ አሕዛብ እስመ ይመስሎሙ በአብዝኆ ንባቦሙ ዘይሰምዖሙ።
In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
6:8
μὴ οὖν ὁμοιωθῆτε αὐτοῖς, οἶδεν γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὧν χρείαν ἔχετε πρὸ τοῦ ὑμᾶς αἰτῆσαι αὐτόν.
Nolite ergo assimilari eis : scit enim Pater vester, quid opus sit vobis, antequam petatis eum.
ኢትትመሰልዎሙኬ እስመ የአምር አቡክሙ ሰማያዊ ዘትፈቅዱ ዘእንበለ ትስአልዎ።
Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.
6:9
οὕτως οὖν προσεύχεσθε ὑμεῖς· πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου,
Sic ergo vos orabitis : Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum.
አንትሙሰ ሶበ ትጼልዩ ከመዝ በሉ አቡነ ዘበሰማያት ይትቀደስ ስምከ።
Pray like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
6:10
ἐλθάτω ἡ βασιλεία σου, γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου, ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς.
Adveniat regnum tuum ; fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
ትምጻእ መንግሥትከ ወይኩን ፈቃድከ በከመ በሰማይ ከማሁ በምድር።
Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
6:11
τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δὸς ἡμῖν σήμερον·
Panem nostrum supersubstantialem da nobis hodie,
ሲሳየነ ዘለለ ዕለትነ ሀበነ ዮም።
Give us today our daily bread.
6:12
καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν·
et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
ኅድግ ለነ አበሳነ ወጌጋየነ ከመ ንሕነኒ ንኅድግ ለዘአበሰ ለነ።
Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
6:13
καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν, ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ πονηροῦ.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.
ኢታብአነ እግዚኦ ውስተ መንሱት አላ አድኅነነ ወባልሐነ እምኵሉ እኩይ እስመ ዚኣከ ይእቲ መንግሥት ኀይል ወስብሐት ለዓለመ ዓለም አሜን።
Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’
6:14
Ἐὰν γὰρ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν, ἀφήσει καὶ ὑμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος·
Si enim dimiseritis hominibus peccata eorum : dimittet et vobis Pater vester caelestis delicta vestra.
እስመ ለእመ ኀደግሙ ለሰብእ አበሳሆሙ የኀድግ ለክሙኒ አቡክሙ ሰማያዊ አበሳክሙ።
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
6:15
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις, οὐδὲ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἀφήσει τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν.
Si autem non dimiseritis hominibus : nec Pater vester dimittet vobis peccata vestra.
ወእመሰ ኢኀደግሙ ለሰብእ አበሳሆሙ አቡክሙኒ ሰማያዊ ኢየኀድግ አበሳክሙ።
But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
6:16
Ὅταν δὲ νηστεύητε, μὴ γίνεσθε ὡς οἱ ὑποκριταὶ σκυθρωποί, ἀφανίζουσιν γὰρ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύοντες· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.
Cum autem jejunatis, nolite fieri sicut hypocritae, tristes. Exterminant enim facies suas, ut appareant hominibus jejunantes. Amen dico vobis, quia receperunt mercedem suam.
ወሶበሂ ትጸውሙ ኢትኩኑ ከመ መደልዋን እስመ እሙንቱ ይትመጸለዉ ወይቈጽሩ ገጾሙ ወያማስኑ ከመ ያእምር ሰብእ ከመ ጾሙ አማን እብለክሙ ነሥኡ ዕሴቶሙ።
“Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
6:17
σὺ δὲ νηστεύων ἄλειψαί σου τὴν κεφαλὴν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου νίψαι,
Tu autem, cum jejunas, unge caput tuum, et faciem tuam lava,
ወአንትሙሰ ሶበ ትጸውሙ ቅብዑ ርእሰክሙ ወኀጽቡ ገጸክሙ።
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
6:18
ὅπως μὴ φανῇς τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύων ἀλλὰ τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ κρυφαίῳ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυφαίῳ ἀποδώσει σοι.
ne videaris hominibus jejunans, sed Patri tuo, qui est in abscondito : et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscondito, reddet tibi.
ከመ ኢያእምር ሰብእ ከመ ጾምክሙ ዘእንበለ አቡክሙ ዘበሰማያት ዘበኅቡእ ወአቡክሙ ዘይሬእየክሙ በኅቡእ የዐስየክሙ ክሡተ።
so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
6:19
Μὴ θησαυρίζετε ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅπου σὴς καὶ βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται διορύσσουσιν καὶ κλέπτουσιν·
Nolite thesaurizare vobis thesauros in terra : ubi aerugo, et tinea demolitur : et ubi fures effodiunt, et furantur.
ኢትዝግቡ ለክሙ መዝገበ ዘበምድር ኀበ ይበሊ ወይማስን ወኀበ ፃፄ ወቍንቍኔ ያማስኖ ወኀበ ሰረቅት ይከርዩ ወይሰርቅዎ።
“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
6:20
θησαυρίζετε δὲ ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐν οὐρανῷ, ὅπου οὔτε σὴς οὔτε βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται οὐ διορύσσουσιν οὐδὲ κλέπτουσιν·
Thesaurizate autem vobis thesauros in caelo, ubi neque aerugo, neque tinea demolitur, et ubi fures non effodiunt, nec furantur.
ዝግቡ ለክሙ መዝገበ ዘበሰማያት ኀበ ኢይበሊ ወኢይማስን ወኀበ ኢያማስኖ ፃፄ ወቍንቍኔ ወኀበ ሰረቅት ኢይከርዩ ወኢይሰርቅዎ።
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal;
6:21
ὅπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρός σου, ἐκεῖ ἔσται καὶ ἡ καρδία σου.
Ubi enim est thesaurus tuus, ibi est et cor tuum.
እስመ ኀበ ሀሎ መዝገብክሙ ህየ ይሄሉ ልብክሙኒ።
for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
6:22
Ὁ λύχνος τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν ὁ ὀφθαλμός. ἐὰν ᾖ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἁπλοῦς, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου φωτεινὸν ἔσται·
Lucerna corporis tui est oculus tuus. Si oculus tuus fuerit simplex, totum corpus tuum lucidum erit.
ማኅቶቱ ለሥጋከ ዐይንከ ውእቱ እምከመ ዐይንከ ብሩህ ወስፉሕ ውእቱ ኵሉ ሥጋከ ብሩሀ ይከውን።
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.
6:23
ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρὸς ᾖ, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου σκοτεινὸν ἔσται. εἰ οὖν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἐν σοὶ σκότος ἐστίν, τὸ σκότος πόσον.
Si autem oculus tuus fuerit nequam, totum corpus tuum tenebrosum erit. Si ergo lumen, quod in te est, tenebrae sunt : ipsae tenebrae quantae erunt ?
ወእመሰ ዐይንከ ሐማሚ ኵሉ ሥጋከ ጽልመተ ይከውን ወሶበ ብርሃን ዘላዕሌከ ጽልመት ውእቱ ጽልመትከ እፎ ብርሃነ ይከውነከ።
But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
6:24
Οὐδεὶς δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν· ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει· οὐ δύνασθε θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ.
Nemo potest duobus dominis servire : aut enim unum odio habebit, et alterum diliget : aut unum sustinebit, et alterum contemnet. Non potestis Deo servire et mammonae.
ኢይክል አሐዱ ገብር ተቀንዮ ለክልኤ አጋዕዝት ወእመ አኮሰ አሐደ ይጸልእ ወካልኦ ያፈቅር ወእመአኮ ለአሐዱ ይትኤዘዝ ወለካልኡ ኢይትኤዘዝ ኢትክሉኬ ተቀንዮ ለእግዚአብሔር ወለንዋይ።
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.
6:25
Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν, μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν τί φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ σώματι ὑμῶν τί ἐνδύσησθε· οὐχὶ ἡ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος;
Ideo dico vobis, ne solliciti sitis animae vestrae quid manducetis, neque corpori vestro quid induamini. Nonne anima plus est quam esca, et corpus plus quam vestimentum ?
ወበእንተዝ እብለክሙ ኢትተክዙ ለነፍስክሙ ዘትበልዑ ወዘትሰትዩ ወኢ ለሥጋክሙ ዘትለብሱ አኮሁ ነፍስ ተዐፅብ እምሲሲት ወሥጋ የዐፅብ እምዐራዝ።
Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
6:26
ἐμβλέψατε εἰς τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν οὐδὲ συνάγουσιν εἰς ἀποθήκας, καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος τρέφει αὐτά· οὐχ ὑμεῖς μᾶλλον διαφέρετε αὐτῶν;
Respicite volatilia caeli, quoniam non serunt, neque metunt, neque congregant in horrea : et Pater vester caelestis pascit illa. Nonne vos magis pluris estis illis ?
ነጽሩ አዕዋፈ ሰማይ እለ ኢይዘርዑ ወኢየአርሩ ወኢያስተጋብኡ ውስተ አብያት ወአቡክሙ ሰማያዊ ይሴስዮሙ አኮኑ አንትሙ ፈድፋደ ትኄይስዎሙ።
See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?
6:27
τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται προσθεῖναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ πῆχυν ἕνα;
Quis autem vestrum cogitans potest adjicere ad staturam suam cubitum unum ?
መኑ እምኔክሙ በተክዞ ዘይክል ወስኮ አሐደ እመተ በዲበ ቆሙ ወበእንተ አራዝኒ ምንተኑ ትኄልዩ።
“Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?
6:28
καὶ περὶ ἐνδύματος τί μεριμνᾶτε; καταμάθετε τὰ κρίνα τοῦ ἀγροῦ πῶς αὐξάνουσιν· οὐ κοπιῶσιν οὐδὲ νήθουσιν·
Et de vestimento quid solliciti estis ? Considerate lilia agri quomodo crescunt : non laborant, neque nent.
ርእዩ ጽጌያተ ገዳም ዘከመ ይልህቁ እንዘ ኢይጻምዉ ወኢይፈትሉ።
Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,
6:29
λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων.
Dico autem vobis, quoniam nec Salomon in omni gloria sua coopertus est sicut unum ex istis.
እብለክሙ ከመ ሰሎሞን ጥቀ በኵሉ ክብሩ ኢለብሰ ከመ አሐዱ እምእሉ።
yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
6:30
εἰ δὲ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ σήμερον ὄντα καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέννυσιν, οὐ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι;
Si autem foenum agri, quod hodie est, et cras in clibanum mittitur, Deus sic vestit, quanto magis vos modicae fidei ?
ወናሁ ሣዕረ ገዳም ዘዮም ሀሎ ወጌሠመ ውስተ እቶነ እሳት ይትወደይ ወእግዚአብሔር ዘከመዝ ያለብሶ እፎ እንከ ፈድፋደ ኪያክሙ ኦ ሕጹጻነ ሃይማኖት።
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?
6:31
μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε λέγοντες, τί φάγωμεν; ἤ, τί πίωμεν; ἤ, τί περιβαλώμεθα;
Nolite ergo solliciti esse, dicentes : Quid manducabimus, aut quid bibemus, aut quo operiemur ?
ኢትተክዙኬ እንከ እንዘ ትብሉ ምንተ ንበልዕ ወምንተ ንሰቲ ወምንተ ንትከደን።
“Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’
6:32
πάντα γὰρ ταῦτα τὰ ἔθνη ἐπιζητοῦσιν· οἶδεν γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων ἁπάντων.
haec enim omnia gentes inquirunt. Scit enim Pater vester, quia his omnibus indigetis.
እስመ ዘንተሰ ኵሎ አሕዛበ ዓለም ዘአፍኣ የኀሥሥዎ ወለክሙሰ የአምር አቡክሙ ሰማያዊ ዘከመ ትፈቅዱ ዘንተ ኵሎ።
For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
6:33
ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ, καὶ ταῦτα πάντα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν.
Quaerite ergo primum regnum Dei, et justitiam ejus : et haec omnia adjicientur vobis.
አንትሙሰ ኅሡ መቅድመ መንግሥቶ ወጽድቆ ወዝንቱሰ ኵሉ ይትዌሰከክሙ።
But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
6:34
μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε εἰς τὴν αὔριον, ἡ γὰρ αὔριον μεριμνήσει ἑαυτῆς· ἀρκετὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ κακία αὐτῆς.
Nolite ergo solliciti esse in crastinum. Crastinus enim dies sollicitus erit sibi ipsi : sufficit diei malitia sua.
ኢትተክዙኬ ወኢተበሉ ለጌሠም እስመ ጌሠምሰ ትኄሊ ለርእሳ የአክላ ለዕለት እከያ ወስራሓ።
Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
