15:1
Ἦσαν δὲ αὐτῷ ἐγγίζοντες πάντες οἱ τελῶναι καὶ οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἀκούειν αὐτοῦ.
Erant autem appropinquantes ei publicani, et peccatores ut audirent illum.
ወቀርቡ ኀቤሁ መጸብሓን ወኃጥኣን ይስምዕዎ።
Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.
15:2
καὶ διεγόγγυζον οἵ τε Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες ὅτι οὗτος ἁμαρτωλοὺς προσδέχεται καὶ συνεσθίει αὐτοῖς.
Et murmurabant pharisaei, et scribae, dicentes : Quia hic peccatores recipit, et manducat cum illis.
ወአንጐርጐሩ ጸሐፍት ወፈሪሳውያን እንዘ ይብሉ ዝንቱሰ ኃጥኣነ ይትዌከፍ ወይበልዕ ምስሌሆሙ።
The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”
15:3
εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην λέγων·
Et ait ad illos parabolam istam dicens :
ወመሰለ ሎሙ ከመዝ ወይቤሎሙ።
He told them this parable:
15:4
τίς ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ὑμῶν ἔχων ἑκατὸν πρόβατα καὶ ἀπολέσας ἐξ αὐτῶν ἓν οὐ καταλείπει τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ καὶ πορεύεται ἐπὶ τὸ ἀπολωλός, ἕως εὕρῃ αὐτό;
Quis ex vobis homo, qui habet centum oves, et si perdiderit unam ex illis, nonne dimittit nonaginta novem in deserto, et vadit ad illam quae perierat, donec inveniat eam ?
እመቦ ብእሲ እምኔክሙ ዘቦ ምእት አባግዕ ወለእመ ተገድፈቶ አሐቲ እምኔሆን አኮኑ የኀድግ ተስዓ ወተስዐተ ውስተ ገዳም ወየሐውር ኀበ እንተ ተገድፈቶ እስከ ይረክባ።
“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
15:5
καὶ εὑρὼν ἐπιτίθησιν ἐπὶ τοὺς ὤμους αὐτοῦ χαίρων,
Et cum invenerit eam, imponit in humeros suos gaudens :
ወእምከመ ረከባ ይጸውራ ዲበ መትከፍቱ እንዘ ይትፌሣሕ።
When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
15:6
καὶ ἐλθὼν εἰς τὸν οἶκον συνκαλεῖ τοὺς φίλους καὶ τοὺς γείτονας, λέγων αὐτοῖς· συνχάρητέ μοι, ὅτι εὗρον τὸ πρόβατόν μου τὸ ἀπολωλός.
et veniens domum convocat amicos et vicinos, dicens illis : Congratulamini mihi, quia inveni ovem meam, quae perierat.
ወአቲዎ ቤቶ ይጼውዕ አዕርክቲሁ ወጎሮ ወይብሎሙ ተፈሥሑ ሊተ እስመ ረከብኩ በግዕትየ እንተ ተገድፈተኒ።
When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
15:7
λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὕτως χαρὰ ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ ἔσται ἐπὶ ἑνὶ ἁμαρτωλῷ μετανοοῦντι ἢ ἐπὶ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα δικαίοις οἵτινες οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν μετανοίας.
Dico vobis quod ita gaudium erit in caelo super uno peccatore poenitentiam agente, quam super nonaginta novem justis, qui non indigent poenitentia.
እብለክሙ ከመ ከመዝ ይከውን ትፍሥሕት በሰማያት በበይነ አሐዱ ኃጥእ ዘይኔስሕ ፈድፋደ እምነ ተስዓ ወተስዐቱ ጻድቃን እለ ኢይፈቅዱ ይነስሑ።
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
15:8
Ἢ τίς γυνὴ δραχμὰς ἔχουσα δέκα, ἐὰν ἀπολέσῃ δραχμὴν μίαν, οὐχὶ ἅπτει λύχνον καὶ σαροῖ τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ ζητεῖ ἐπιμελῶς ἕως ὅτου εὕρῃ;
Aut quae mulier habens drachmas decem, si perdiderit drachmam unam, nonne accendit lucernam, et everrit domum, et quaerit diligenter, donec inveniat ?
ወእመኒ ብእሲት ዘባቲ ዐሥሩ ጠፋልሐ አግሙስ ወለእመ ተገድፈታ አሐቲ እምኔሆን አኮኑ ታኀቱ ማኅቶተ ወትፈነቅል ኵሎ ዘውስተ ቤታ ወተኀሥሥ አስተሐሚማ እስከ ትረክብ።
“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?
15:9
καὶ εὑροῦσα συνκαλεῖ τὰς φίλας καὶ γείτονας λέγουσα· συνχάρητέ μοι, ὅτι εὗρον τὴν δραχμὴν ἣν ἀπώλεσα.
Et cum invenerit convocat amicas et vicinas, dicens : Congratulamini mihi, quia inveni drachmam quam perdideram.
ወእምከመ ረከበት ትጼውዕ አዕርክቲሃ ወጎራ ወትብሎን ተፈሥሓ ሊተ እስመ ረከብኩ ገመስየ እንተ ተገድፈተኒ።
When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’
15:10
οὕτως, λέγω ὑμῖν, γίνεται χαρὰ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ ἑνὶ ἁμαρτωλῷ μετανοοῦντι.
Ita, dico vobis, gaudium erit coram angelis Dei super uno peccatore poenitentiam agente.
እብለክሙ ከመ ከማሁ ይከውን ፍሥሓ በሰማያት በቅድመ መላእክተ እግዚአብሔር በእንተ አሐዱ ኃጥእ ዘይኔስሕ።
Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”
15:11
Εἶπεν δέ· ἄνθρωπός τις εἶχεν δύο υἱούς.
Ait autem : Homo quidam habuit duos filios :
ወካዕበ ይቤ አሐዱ ብእሲ ቦቱ ክልኤቱ ደቂቅ።
He said, “A certain man had two sons.
15:12
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ νεώτερος αὐτῶν τῷ πατρί· πάτερ, δός μοι τὸ ἐπιβάλλον μέρος τῆς οὐσίας. καὶ διεῖλεν αὐτοῖς τὸν βίον.
et dixit adolescentior ex illis patri : Pater, da mihi portionem substantiae, quae me contingit. Et divisit illis substantiam.
ወይቤሎ ዘይንእስ ለአቡሁ አባ ሀበኒ መክፈልተ ርስትየ ዘይረክበኒ እምንዋይከ ወከፈሎ ንዋዮ።
The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of your property.’ So he divided his livelihood between them.
15:13
καὶ μετ’ οὐ πολλὰς ἡμέρας συναγαγὼν ἅπαντα ὁ νεώτερος υἱὸς ἀπεδήμησεν εἰς χώραν μακράν, καὶ ἐκεῖ διεσκόρπισεν τὴν οὐσίαν αὐτοῦ ζῶν ἀσώτως.
Et non post multos dies, congregatis omnibus, adolescentior filius peregre profectus est in regionem longinquam, et ibi dissipavit substantiam suam vivendo luxuriose.
ወእምድኅረ ኅዳጥ መዋዕል አስተጋብአ ኵሎ ንዋዮ ዝኩ ወልዱ ዘይንእስ ወሖረ ወነገደ ርኁቀ ብሔረ ወበህየ ዘረወ ወአማሰነ ኵሎ ንዋዮ እንዘ የሐዩ በምርዓት።
Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.
15:14
δαπανήσαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ πάντα ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἰσχυρὰ κατὰ τὴν χώραν ἐκείνην, καὶ αὐτὸς ἤρξατο ὑστερεῖσθαι.
Et postquam omnia consummasset, facta est fames valida in regione illa, et ipse coepit egere.
ወአኅሊቆ ኵሎ ንዋዮ መጽአ ረኃብ ዐቢይ ውስተ ውእቱ ብሔር ወተጸነሰ።
When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.
15:15
καὶ πορευθεὶς ἐκολλήθη ἑνὶ τῶν πολιτῶν τῆς χώρας ἐκείνης, καὶ ἔπεμψεν αὐτὸν εἰς τοὺς ἀγροὺς αὐτοῦ βόσκειν χοίρους·
Et abiit, et adhaesit uni civium regionis illius : et misit illum in villam suam ut pasceret porcos.
ወሖረ ወተፀምደ ኀበ አሐዱ እምሰብአ ውእቱ ብሔር ወፈነዎ ውስተ አዕጻደ ወፍሩ ይርዐይ አሕርወ።
He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
15:16
καὶ ἐπεθύμει γεμίσαι τὴν κοιλίαν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν κερατίων ᾧν ἤσθιον οἱ χοῖροι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐδίδου αὐτῷ.
Et cupiebat implere ventrem suum de siliquis, quas porci manducabant : et nemo illi dabat.
ወፈተወ ይጽገብ እምሖመረ ጽራእ ዘይሴሰዩ አሕርው ወአልቦ ዘይሁቦ።
He wanted to fill his belly with the pods that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.
15:17
εἰς ἑαυτὸν δὲ ἐλθὼν ἔφη· πόσοι μίσθιοι τοῦ πατρός μου περισσεύουσιν ἄρτων· ἐγὼ δὲ λιμῷ ὧδε ἀπόλλυμαι.
In se autem reversus, dixit : Quanti mercenarii in domo patris mei abundant panibus, ego autem hic fame pereo !
ወኀለየ በልቡ ወይቤ ሚመጠን አግብርቲሁ ወገባእቱ ለአቡየ እለ ያተርፍዎ ለእክል ወአንሰ እመውት በረኃብ በዝየ።
But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!
15:18
ἀναστὰς πορεύσομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἐρῶ αὐτῷ· πάτερ, ἥμαρτον εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐνώπιόν σου,
surgam, et ibo ad patrem meum, et dicam ei : Pater, peccavi in caelum, et coram te :
እትነሣእ ወአሐውር ኀበ አቡየ ወእብሎ አባ አበስኩ በሰማይኒ ወበቅድሜከኒ።
I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
15:19
οὐκέτι εἰμὶ ἄξιος κληθῆναι υἱός σου· ποίησόν με ὡς ἕνα τῶν μισθίων σου.
jam non sum dignus vocari filius tuus : fac me sicut unum de mercenariis tuis.
ወኢይደልወኒ እንከ እሰመይ ወልደከ አላ ረስየኒ ከመ አሐዱ እምአግብርቲከ።
I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’
15:20
καὶ ἀναστὰς ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ. ἔτι δὲ αὐτοῦ μακρὰν ἀπέχοντος εἶδεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη, καὶ δραμὼν ἐπέπεσεν ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν.
Et surgens venit ad patrem suum. Cum autem adhuc longe esset, vidit illum pater ipsius, et misericordia motus est, et accurrens cecidit super collum ejus, et osculatus est eum.
ወተንሥአ ወሖረ ኀበ አቡሁ ወርእዮ አቡሁ እምርኁቅ ምህሮ ወሮጸ ወሐቀፎ ክሣዶ ወሰዓሞ።
“He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him.
15:21
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ υἱός· πάτερ, ἥμαρτον εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐνώπιόν σου, οὐκέτι εἰμὶ ἄξιος κληθῆναι υἱός σου.
Dixitque ei filius : Pater, peccavi in caelum, et coram te : jam non sum dignus vocari filius tuus.
ወይቤሎ ወልዱ አባ አበስኩ በሰማይኒ ወበቅድሜከኒ ወኢይደልወኒ እንከ እሰመይ ወልደከ አላ ረስየኒ ከመ አሐዱ እምአግብርቲከ።
The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
15:22
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ πρὸς τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ· ἐξενέγκατε στολὴν τὴν πρώτην καὶ ἐνδύσατε αὐτόν, καὶ δότε δακτύλιον εἰς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ὑποδήματα εἰς τοὺς πόδας,
Dixit autem pater ad servos suos : Cito proferte stolam primam, et induite illum, et date annulum in manum ejus, et calceamenta in pedes ejus :
ወይቤሎሙ አቡሁ ለአግብርቲሁ አምጽኡ ፍጡነ አልባሰ ቅድዋተ ወአልብስዎ ወደዩ ኅልቀተ ውስተ አጻብዒሁ ወአሣእነ ውስተ እገሪሁ።
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
15:23
καὶ φέρετε τὸν μόσχον τὸν σιτευτόν, θύσατε καὶ φαγόντες εὐφρανθῶμεν,
et adducite vitulum saginatum, et occidite, et manducemus, et epulemur :
ወአምጽኡ ላሕመ መግዝአ ወጥብሑ ንብላዕ ወንትፈሣሕ።
Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate;
15:24
ὅτι οὗτος ὁ υἱός μου νεκρὸς ἦν καὶ ἀνέζησεν, ἦν ἀπολωλὼς καὶ εὑρέθη. καὶ ἤρξαντο εὐφραίνεσθαι.
quia hic filius meus mortuus erat, et revixit : perierat, et inventus est. Et coeperunt epulari.
እስመ ዝንቱ ወልድየ ሞተሂ ወሐይወ ተኀጕለሂ ወተረክበ ወአኀዙ ይትፈሥሑ።
for this, my son, was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.’ Then they began to celebrate.
15:25
ἦν δὲ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ πρεσβύτερος ἐν ἀγρῷ· καὶ ὡς ἐρχόμενος ἤγγισεν τῇ οἰκίᾳ, ἤκουσεν συμφωνίας καὶ χορῶν,
Erat autem filius ejus senior in agro : et cum veniret, et appropinquaret domui, audivit symphoniam et chorum :
ወወልዱሰ ዘይልኅቅ ሀለወ ውስተ ሐቅል ወአቲዎ ሶበ በጽሐ ኀበ ጽንፈ ሀገር ሰምዐ እንዚራ ወማኅሌተ።
“Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
15:26
καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος ἕνα τῶν παίδων ἐπυνθάνετο τί εἴη ταῦτα.
et vocavit unum de servis, et interrogavit quid haec essent.
ወጸውዐ አሐደ እምአግብርተ አቡሁ ወይቤሎ ምንትኑ ዝንቱ ዘእሰምዕ።
He called one of the servants to him and asked what was going on.
15:27
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὅτι ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἥκει, καὶ ἔθυσεν ὁ πατήρ σου τὸν μόσχον τὸν σιτευτόν, ὅτι ὑγιαίνοντα αὐτὸν ἀπέλαβεν.
Isque dixit illi : Frater tuus venit, et occidit pater tuus vitulum saginatum, quia salvum illum recepit.
ወይቤሎ እስመ አተወ እኁከ ወጠብሐ አቡከ ላሕመ መግዝአ እስመ ረከቦ ሕያዎ።
He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’
15:28
ὠργίσθη δὲ καὶ οὐκ ἤθελεν εἰσελθεῖν· ὁ δὲ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ἐξελθὼν παρεκάλει αὐτόν.
Indignatus est autem, et nolebat introire. Pater ergo illius egressus, coepit rogare illum.
ወተምዐ ወአበየ በዊአ ወወፅአ አቡሁ ወአስተብቍዖ።
But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.
15:29
ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ πατρί· ἰδοὺ τοσαῦτα ἔτη δουλεύω σοι καὶ οὐδέποτε ἐντολήν σου παρῆλθον, καὶ ἐμοὶ οὐδέποτε ἔδωκας ἔριφον ἵνα μετὰ τῶν φίλων μου εὐφρανθῶ·
At ille respondens, dixit patri suo : Ecce tot annis servio tibi, et numquam mandatum tuum praeterivi : et numquam dedisti mihi haedum ut cum amicis meis epularer.
ወአውሥአ ወይቤሎ ለአቡሁ ናሁ መጠነዝ ዓመተ ተቀነይኩ ለከ ወግሙራ ኢኀለፍኩ እምትእዛዝከ ወሊተሰ ኢወሀብከኒ ማሕስአ ጠሊ ጥቀ በዘእትፌሣሕ ምስለ አዕርክትየ ወቢጽየ።
But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
15:30
ὅτε δὲ ὁ υἱός σου οὗτος ὁ καταφαγών σου τὸν βίον μετὰ πορνῶν ἦλθεν, ἔθυσας αὐτῷ τὸν σιτευτὸν μόσχον.
Sed postquam filius tuus hic, qui devoravit substantiam suam cum meretricibus, venit, occidisti illi vitulum saginatum.
ወአቲዎሰ ዝንቱ ወልድከ ዘአኅለቀ ወበልዐ ኵሎ ንብረተከ ምስለ ዘማት ጠባሕከ ሎቱ ላሕመ መግዝአ።
But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
15:31
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· τέκνον, σὺ πάντοτε μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἶ, καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐμὰ σά ἐστιν·
At ipse dixit illi : Fili, tu semper mecum es, et omnia mea tua sunt :
ወይቤሎ አቡሁ ወልድየ አንተሰ ዘልፈ ሀለውከ ምስሌየ ወኵሉ ዘዚኣየ ዚኣከ ውእቱ።
“He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
15:32
εὐφρανθῆναι δὲ καὶ χαρῆναι ἔδει, ὅτι ὁ ἀδελφός σου οὗτος νεκρὸς ἦν καὶ ἔζησεν, καὶ ἀπολωλὼς καὶ εὑρέθη.
epulari autem, et gaudere oportebat, quia frater tuus hic mortuus erat, et revixit ; perierat, et inventus est.
ወባሕቱ ርቱዕሰ ንትፈሣሕ ወንትሐሠይ እስመ ዝንቱ እኁከ ሞተሂ ወሐይወ ተኀጕለሂ ወተረክበ።
But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”
