6:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Μετὰ ταῦτα ἀπῆλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς Γαλιλαίας τῆς Τιβεριάδος ·
Post haec abiit Jesus trans mare Galilaeae , quod est Tiberiadis :
ወእምድኅረ ዝንቱ ሖረ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ማዕዶተ ባሕረ ገሊላ ኀበ ጥብርያዶስ ።
After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.
6:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἠκολούθει δὲ αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς , ὅτι ἑώρων τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίει ἐπὶ τῶν ἀσθενούντων .
et sequebatur eum multitudo magna , quia videbant signa quae faciebat super his qui infirmabantur .
ወተለውዎ ብዙኃን አሕዛብ እስመ ርእዩ ተአምረ ዘገብረ በላዕለ ድዉያን ።
A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.
6:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀνῆλθεν δὲ εἰς τὸ ὄρος Ἰησοῦς , καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐκαθέζετο μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ .
Subiit ergo in montem Jesus et ibi sedebat cum discipulis suis .
ወዐርገ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ውስተ ደብር ወህየ ነበረ ምስለ አርዳኢሁ ።
Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.
6:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦν δὲ ἐγγὺς τὸ πάσχα , ἡ ἑορτὴ τῶν Ἰουδαίων .
Erat autem proximum Pascha dies festus Judaeorum .
ወቀርበ በዓለ ፋሲካሆሙ ለአይሁድ ።
Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
6:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπάρας οὖν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ θεασάμενος ὅτι πολὺς ὄχλος ἔρχεται πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγει πρὸς Φίλιππον · πόθεν ἀγοράσωμεν ἄρτους ἵνα φάγωσιν οὗτοι ;
Cum sublevasset ergo oculos Jesus , et vidisset quia multitudo maxima venit ad eum , dixit ad Philippum : Unde ememus panes , ut manducent hi ?
ወአንሥአ አዕይንቲሁ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወርእየ ብዙኃነ ሰብአ እንዘ ይመጽኡ ኀቤሁ ወይቤሎ ለፊልጶስ እምአይቴ ንሣየጥ ኅብስተ ዘናበልዖሙ ለእሉ ።
Jesus therefore, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”
6:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ ἔλεγεν πειράζων αὐτόν · αὐτὸς γὰρ ᾔδει τί ἔμελλεν ποιεῖν .
Hoc autem dicebat tentans eum : ipse enim sciebat quid esset facturus .
ወዘንተ ይቤ እንዘ ያሜክሮ ወውእቱሰ የአምር ዘሀለዎ ይግበር ።
He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
6:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποκρίνεται αὐτῷ ὁ Φίλιππος , διακοσίων δηναρίων ἄρτοι οὐκ ἀρκοῦσιν αὐτοῖς , ἵνα ἕκαστος βραχύ τι λάβῃ .
Respondit ei Philippus : Ducentorum denariorum panes non sufficiunt eis , ut unusquisque modicum quid accipiat .
ወአውሥአ ፊልጶስ ወይቤሎ ዘክልኤቱ ምእት ዲናር ኅብስት ኢየአክሎሙ ከመ ይንሥኡ በበሕቅ ለለአሐዱ እምኔሆሙ ።
Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little.”
6:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει αὐτῷ εἷς ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ , Ἀνδρέας ὁ ἀδελφὸς Σίμωνος Πέτρου ·
Dicit ei unus ex discipulis ejus , Andreas , frater Simonis Petri :
ወይቤሎ አሐዱ እምአርዳኢሁ ዘውእቱ እንድርያስ እኁሁ ለስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ።
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,
6:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔστιν παιδάριον ὧδε ὃς ἔχει πέντε ἄρτους κριθίνους καὶ δύο ὀψάρια · ἀλλὰ ταῦτα τί ἐστιν εἰς τοσούτους ;
Est puer unus hic qui habet quinque panes hordeaceos et duos pisces : sed haec quid sunt inter tantos ?
ሀሎ ዝየ ወልድ ዘቦቱ ኀምስ ኅብስተ ሰገም ወክልኤቲ ዓሣት ወባሕቱ ምንተ ይበቍዓ እማንቱ ለዘመጠነዝ ሰብእ ።
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”
6:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς · ποιήσατε τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἀναπεσεῖν . ἦν δὲ χόρτος πολὺς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ . ἀνέπεσαν οὖν οἱ ἄνδρες τὸν ἀριθμὸν ὡς πεντακισχίλιοι .
Dixit ergo Jesus : Facite homines discumbere . Erat autem foenum multum in loco . Discubuerunt ergo viri , numero quasi quinque millia .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ግበሩ ምርፋቃተ ለሰብእ ወብዙኅ ሣዕሩ ለውእቱ መካን ወረፈቁ ዲበ ሣዕር ዕደዊሆሙ ወየአክል ኍልቆሙ መጠነ ኀምሳ ምእት ብእሲ ።
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
6:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔλαβεν οὖν τοὺς ἄρτους ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ εὐχαρίστησεν καὶ ἔδωκεν τοῖς ἀνακειμένοις , ὁμοίως καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀψαρίων ὅσον ἤθελον .
Accepit ergo Jesus panes : et cum gratias egisset , distribuit discumbentibus : similiter et ex piscibus quantum volebant .
ወነሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ውእተ ኅብስተ ወአእኰተ ባረከ ወፈተተ ወወሀቦሙ ለአርዳኢሁ ወአርዳኢሁኒ አቅረቡ ለሰብእ ወእምዓሣሁኒ ከማሁ መጠነ ፈቀዱ ።
Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down, likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.
6:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς δὲ ἐνεπλήσθησαν , λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ · συναγάγετε τὰ περισσεύσαντα κλάσματα , ἵνα μή τι ἀπόληται .
Ut autem impleti sunt , dixit discipulis suis : Colligite quae superaverunt fragmenta , ne pereant .
ወእምድኅረ በልዑ ወጸግቡ ይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለአርዳኢሁ አስተጋብኡ ዘተርፈ ፍተታተ ከመ አልቦ ዘይትገደፍ ወኢምንትኒ እምኔሆን ፤
When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”
6:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ συνήγαγον οὖν , καὶ ἐγέμισαν δώδεκα κοφίνους κλασμάτων ἐκ τῶν πέντε ἄρτων τῶν κριθίνων , ἃ ἐπερίσσευσαν τοῖς βεβρωκόσιν .
Collegerunt ergo , et impleverunt duodecim cophinos fragmentorum ex quinque panibus hordeaceis , quae superfuerunt his qui manducaverant .
ወአስተጋብኡ ወመልአ ዐሠርተ ወክልኤተ መሣይምተ እምኀምስቱ ኅብስተ ሰገም ዘተርፈ ፍተታት እምዘ በልዑ ወጸግቡ ።
So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.
6:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οἱ οὖν ἄνθρωποι ἰδόντες ὃ ἐποίησεν σημεῖον ἔλεγον ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ἀληθῶς ὁ προφήτης ὁ εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἐρχόμενος .
Illi ergo homines cum vidissent quod Jesus fecerat signum , dicebant : Quia hic est vere propheta , qui venturus est in mundum .
ወርእዮሙ ሕዝብ ዘገብረ ተአምረ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ይቤሉ አማን ነቢይ ውእቱ ዝንቱ ዘመጽአ ውስተ ዓለም ።
When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”
6:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἰησοῦς οὖν γνοὺς ὅτι μέλλουσιν ἔρχεσθαι καὶ ἁρπάζειν αὐτὸν ἵνα ποιήσωσιν βασιλέα , φεύγει πάλιν εἰς τὸ ὄρος αὐτὸς μόνος .
Jesus ergo cum cognovisset quia venturi essent ut raperent eum , et facerent eum regem , fugit iterum in montem ipse solus .
ወአእመሮሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ከመ ይፈቅዱ ይምጽኡ ይምሥጥዎ ወያንግሥዎ ወተግኅሠ ውስተ ደብር ባሕቲቶ ።
Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
6:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὡς δὲ ὀψία ἐγένετο , κατέβησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν ,
Ut autem sero factum est , descenderunt discipuli ejus ad mare .
ወመስዮ ወረዱ አርዳኢሁ ውስተ ባሕር ።
When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea.
6:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐμβάντες εἰς πλοῖον ἤρχοντο πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς Καφαρναούμ . κατέλαβεν δὲ αὐτοὺς ἡ σκοτία καὶ οὔπω ἐληλύθει Ἰησοῦς πρὸς αὐτοὺς ,
Et cum ascendissent navim , venerunt trans mare in Capharnaum : et tenebrae jam factae erant et non venerat ad eos Jesus .
ወዐርጉ ሐመረ ወሖሩ ማዕዶተ ባሕር ኀበ ቅፍርናሆም ወናሁ ወድአ ኮነ ጽልመት ወዓዲሁ ኢመጽአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኀቤሆሙ ።
They entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
6:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἥ τε θάλασσα ἀνέμου μεγάλου πνέοντος διεγείρετο .
Mare autem , vento magno flante , exsurgebat .
ወባሕርሰ ይትሀወክ እስመ ዐቢይ ነፋስ ይነፍኅ ።
The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.
6:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐληλακότες οὖν ὡς στάδια εἴκοσι πέντε ἢ τριάκοντα θεωροῦσιν τὸν Ἰησοῦν περιπατοῦντα ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐγγὺς τοῦ πλοίου γινόμενον , καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν .
Cum remigassent ergo quasi stadia viginti quinque aut triginta , vident Jesum ambulantem supra mare , et proximum navi fieri , et timuerunt .
ወኀሊፎሙ መጠነ ዕሥራ ወኀምስቱ ምዕራፍ አው ሠላሳ ርእይዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ እንዘ የሐውር ዲበ ባሕር ወቀርበ ኀበ ሐመር ወፈርሁ ።
When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.
6:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ λέγει αὐτοῖς · ἐγώ εἰμι , μὴ φοβεῖσθε .
Ille autem dicit eis : Ego sum , nolite timere .
ወይቤሎሙ አነ ውእቱ ኢትፍርሁ ።
But he said to them, “It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
6:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἤθελον οὖν λαβεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον , καὶ εὐθέως ἐγένετο τὸ πλοῖον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς ἣν ὑπῆγον .
Voluerunt ergo accipere eum in navim et statim navis fuit ad terram , in quam ibant .
ወእንዘ ይፈቅዱ ያዕርግዎ ውስተ ሐመር በጽሐት ሐመር ሶቤሃ ውስተ ምድር ኀበ ዘፈቀዱ ይሑሩ ።
They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.
6:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τῇ ἐπαύριον ὁ ὄχλος ὁ ἑστηκὼς πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἶδον ὅτι πλοιάριον ἄλλο οὐκ ἦν ἐκεῖ εἰ μὴ ἕν , καὶ ὅτι οὐ συνεισῆλθεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἀλλὰ μόνοι οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπῆλθον ·
Altera die , turba , quae stabat trans mare , vidit quia navicula alia non erat ibi nisi una , et quia non introisset cum discipulis suis Jesus in navim , sed soli discipuli ejus abiissent :
ወበሳኒታ ሰብእ እለ ይቀውሙ ማዕዶተ ባሕር ርእዮሙ ከመ አልቦ ህየ ካልእ ሐመር ዘእንበለ አሐቲ ሐመር ወከመሂ ኢዐርገ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ምስለ አርዳኢሁ ውስተ ሐመር አላ አርዳኢሁ ባሕቲቶሙ ሖሩ ።
On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.
6:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄλλα ἦλθεν πλοιάρια ἐκ Τιβεριάδος ἐγγὺς τοῦ τόπου ὅπου ἔφαγον τὸν ἄρτον εὐχαριστήταντος τοῦ κυρίου .
aliae vero supervenerunt naves a Tiberiade juxta locum ubi manducaverant panem , gratias agente Domino .
ወመጽኣ ካልኣትኒ አሕማር እምጥብርያዶስ ቅሩበ ብሔር ኀበ በልዑ ኅብስተ ዘባረከ እግዚእነ ።
However, boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
6:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτε οὖν εἶδεν ὁ ὄχλος ὅτι Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκεῖ οὐδὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ , ἐνέβησαν αὐτοὶ εἰς τὰ πλοιάρια καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ ζητοῦντες τὸν Ἰησοῦν .
Cum ergo vidisset turba quia Jesus non esset ibi , neque discipuli ejus , ascenderunt in naviculas , et venerunt Capharnaum quaerentes Jesum .
ወሶበ ርእዩ እሙንቱ ሰብእ ከመ ኢሀሎ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ህየ ወኢአርዳኢሁ ዐርጉ ውስተ ውእቶን አሕማር ወበጽሑ ቅፍርናሆም ይኅሥሥዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
6:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εὑρόντες αὐτὸν πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἶπον αὐτῷ · ῥαββεί , πότε ὧδε γέγονας ;
Et cum invenissent eum trans mare , dixerunt ei : Rabbi , quando huc venisti ?
ወሶበ ረከብዎ በማዕዶተ ባሕር ይቤልዎ ረቢ ማእዜ መጻእከ ወበጻሕከ ዝየ ።
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”
6:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν · ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , ζητεῖτέ με οὐχ ὅτι εἴδετε σημεῖα , ἀλλ’ ὅτι ἐφάγετε ἐκ τῶν ἄρτων καὶ ἐχορτάσθητε .
Respondit eis Jesus , et dixit : Amen , amen dico vobis : quaeritis me non quia vidistis signa , sed quia manducastis ex panibus et saturati estis .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ አማን አማን እብለክሙ ከመ አኮ አንትሙ ዘተኀሥሡኒ በእንተ ዘርኢክሙ ተአምራተ አላ በእንተ ዘበላዕክሙ ኅብስተ ወጸገብክሙ ።
Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
6:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐργάζεσθε μὴ τὴν βρῶσιν τὴν ἀπολλυμένην , ἀλλὰ τὴν βρῶσιν τὴν μένουσαν εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον , ἣν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου δίδωσιν ὑμῖν · τοῦτον γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐσφράγισεν , ὁ θεός .
Operamini non cibum , qui perit , sed qui permanet in vitam aeternam , quem Filius hominis dabit vobis . Hunc enim Pater signavit Deus .
ተገብሩ እንከሰ አኮ ለመብልዕ ኀላፊ አላ ለመብልዕ ዘይነብር ለሕይወት ዘለዓለም ዘይሁበክሙ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እስመ ለዝሰ እግዚአብሔር አብ ኀተሞ ።
Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”
6:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτόν · τί ποιῶμεν ἵνα ἐργαζώμεθα τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ ;
Dixerunt ergo ad eum : Quid faciemus ut operemur opera Dei ?
ወይቤልዎ ምንተ ንረሲ ከመ ንግበር ግብረ እግዚአብሔር ።
They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”
6:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ ἔργον τοῦ θεοῦ , ἵνα πιστεύητε εἰς ὃν ἀπέστειλεν ἐκεῖνος .
Respondit Jesus , et dixit eis : Hoc est opus Dei , ut credatis in eum quem misit ille .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ዝንቱ ውእቱ ግብረ እግዚአብሔር ከመ ትእመኑ በዘፈነወ ውእቱ ።
Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
6:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ · τί οὖν ποιεῖς σὺ σημεῖον , ἵνα ἴδωμεν καὶ πιστεύσωμέν σοι ; τί ἐργάζῃ ;
Dixerunt ergo ei : Quod ergo tu facis signum ut videamus et credamus tibi ? quid operaris ?
ወይቤልዎ ምንተ ተአምረ ትገብር ከመ ንርአይ ወንእመን ብከ በዘገበርከ ።
They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see and believe you? What work do you do?
6:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν τὸ μάννα ἔφαγον ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ , καθώς ἐστιν γεγραμμένον · ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς φαγεῖν .
Patres nostri manducaverunt manna in deserto , sicut scriptum est : Panem de caelo dedit eis manducare .
አበዊነሰ መና በልዑ በገዳም በከመ ጽሑፍ «ኅብስተ እምሰማይ ወሀቦሙ ይብልዑ ።»
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’”
6:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς · ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , οὐ Μωϋσῆς δέδωκεν ὑμῖν τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ , ἀλλ’ ὁ πατήρ μου δίδωσιν ὑμῖν τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τὸν ἀληθινόν .
Dixit ergo eis Jesus : Amen , amen dico vobis : non Moyses dedit vobis panem de caelo , sed Pater meus dat vobis panem de caelo verum .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አማን አማን እብለክሙ አኮ ሙሴ ዘወሀበክሙ ውእተ ኅብስተ እምሰማይ አላ አቡየ ወሀበክሙ ኅብስተ ጽድቅ እምሰማይ ።
Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
6:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ἄρτος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐστιν ὁ καταβαίνων ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ζωὴν διδοὺς τῷ κόσμῳ .
Panis enim Dei est , qui de caelo descendit , et dat vitam mundo .
እስመ ኅብስቱ ለእግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ዘወረደ እምሰማይ ወይሁብ ሕይወተ ዘለዓለም ።
For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.”
6:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτόν · κύριε , πάντοτε δὸς ἡμῖν τὸν ἄρτον τοῦτον .
Dixerunt ergo ad eum : Domine , semper da nobis panem hunc .
ወይቤልዎ እግዚኦ ሀበነ በኵሉ ጊዜ እምውእቱ ኅብስት ።
They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
6:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς · ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς · ὁ ἐρχόμενος πρός ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ πεινάσῃ , καὶ ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ διψήσει πώποτε .
Dixit autem eis Jesus : Ego sum panis vitae : qui venit ad me , non esuriet , et qui credit in me , non sitiet umquam .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አነ ውእቱ ኅብስተ ሕይወት ወዘይመጽእ ኀቤየ ኢይርኅብ ወዘሂ የአምን ብየ ኢይጸምእ ለዝሉፉ ።
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
6:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλ’ εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ ἑωράκατέ καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε .
Sed dixi vobis quia et vidistis me , et non creditis .
ወእቤለክሙ ባሕቱ ርኢክሙኒሂ ወኢአመንክሙኒ ።
But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.
6:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ πᾶν ὃ δίδωσίν μοι ὁ πατὴρ πρὸς ἐμὲ ἥξει , καὶ τὸν ἐρχόμενον πρὸς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ἐκβάλω ἔξω ,
Omne quod dat mihi Pater , ad me veniet : et eum qui venit ad me , non ejiciam foras :
ወኵሉ ዘወሀበኒ አቡየ ይመጽእ ኀቤየ ወለዘሂ መጽአ ኀቤየ ኢይሰድዶ ወኢያውፅኦ አፍኣ ።
All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.
6:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι καταβέβηκα ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐχ ἵνα ποιήσω τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με ·
quia descendi de caelo , non ut faciam voluntatem meam , sed voluntatem ejus qui misit me .
እስመ አኮ ዘወረድኩ እምሰማይ ከመ እግበር ፈቃድየ ዘእንበለ ፈቃዱ ለዘፈነወኒ ።
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
6:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με , ἵνα πᾶν ὃ δέδωκέν μοι μὴ ἀπολέσω ἐξ αὐτοῦ , ἀλλὰ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸ ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ .
Haec est autem voluntas ejus qui misit me , Patris : ut omne quod dedit mihi , non perdam ex eo , sed resuscitem illud in novissimo die .
ወዝንቱ ውእቱ ፈቃዱ ለዘፈነወኒ አብ ከመ ኵሉ ዘወሀበኒ ኢይትኀጐል እምኔሆሙ ወኢአሐዱሂ አላ አነ አነሥኦ በደኃሪት ዕለት ።
This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.
6:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου , ἵνα πᾶς ὁ θεωρῶν τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς αὐτὸν ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον καὶ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ἐγὼ ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ .
Haec est autem voluntas Patris mei , qui misit me : ut omnis qui videt Filium et credit in eum , habeat vitam aeternam , et ego resuscitabo eum in novissimo die .
ወዝንቱ ውእቱ ፈቃዱ ለአቡየ ከመ ኵሉ ዘርእዮ ለወልድ ወአምነ ቦቱ ይረክብ ሕይወተ ዘለዓለም ወአነ አነሥኦ በደኃሪት ዕለት ።
This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
6:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐγόγγυζον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι περὶ αὐτοῦ , ὅτι εἶπεν · ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ καταβὰς ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ,
Murmurabant ergo Judaei de illo , quia dixisset : Ego sum panis vivus , qui de caelo descendi ,
ወአንጐርጐሩ አይሁድ በእንቲኣሁ እስመ ይቤሎሙ አነ ውእቱ ኅብስተ ሕይወት ዘወረደ እምሰማይ ።
The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”
6:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔλεγον · οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς ὁ υἱὸς Ἰωσήφ , οὗ ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα ; πῶς νῦν λέγει οὗτος , ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβέβηκα ;
et dicebant : Nonne hic est Jesus filius Joseph , cujus nos novimus patrem et matrem ? quomodo ergo dicit hic : Quia de caelo descendi ?
ወይቤሉ አኮኑ ዝንቱ ውእቱ ኢየሱስ ወልደ ዮሴፍ ዘለሊነ ነአምር አባሁ ወእሞ ወእፎ እንከ ይብለነ እምሰማይ ወረድኩ ።
They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”
6:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · μὴ γογγύζετε μετ’ ἀλλήλων .
Respondit ergo Jesus , et dixit eis : Nolite murmurare in invicem :
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ኢታንጐርጕሩ በበይናቲክሙ ።
Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.
6:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐλθεῖν πρός με ἐὰν μὴ ὁ πατὴρ ὁ πέμψας με ἑλκύσῃ αὐτόν , κἀγὼ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ .
nemo potest venire ad me , nisi Pater , qui misit me , traxerit eum ; et ego resuscitabo eum in novissimo die .
አልቦ ዘይክል መጺአ ኀቤየ እመ ኢሰሐቦ አብ ዘፈነወኒ ወአነ አነሥኦ በደኃሪት ዕለት ።
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up in the last day.
6:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ἐν τοῖς προφήταις · καὶ ἔσονται πάντες διδακτοὶ θεοῦ · πᾶς ὁ ἀκούσας παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ μαθὼν ἔρχεται πρὸς ἐμέ .
Est scriptum in prophetis : Et erunt omnes docibiles Dei . Omnis qui audivit a Patre , et didicit , venit ad me .
ወሀሎ ጽሑፍ ውስተ መጽሐፈ ነቢያት «ከመ ይከውኑ ኵሎሙ ምሁራነ እምኀበ እግዚአብሔር » ወኵሉ እንከ ዘሰምዐ በኀበ አቡየ ተምሂሮ ይመጽእ ኀቤየ ።
It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me.
6:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐχ ὅτι τὸν πατέρα ἑώρακέν τις , εἰ μὴ ὁ ὢν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ , οὗτος ἑώρακεν τὸν θεόν .
Non quia Patrem vidit quisquam , nisi is , qui est a Deo , hic vidit Patrem .
ወአልቦ ዘርእዮ ለአብ ዘእንበለ ዘእምኀቤሁ ለእግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ወውእቱ ርእዮ ለአብ ።
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.
6:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , ὁ πιστεύων ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον .
Amen , amen dico vobis : qui credit in me , habet vitam aeternam .
አማን አማን እብለክሙ ዘየአምን ብየ ቦ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም ።
Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.
6:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς .
Ego sum panis vitae .
አነ ውእቱ ኅብስተ ሕይወት ።
I am the bread of life.
6:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἔφαγον ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ μάννα καὶ ἀπέθανον ·
Patres vestri manducaverunt manna in deserto , et mortui sunt .
አበዊክሙሰ መና በልዑ በገዳም ወሞቱ ።
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
6:50 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβαίνων , ἵνα τις ἐξ αὐτοῦ φάγῃ καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ .
Hic est panis de caelo descendens : ut si quis ex ipso manducaverit , non moriatur .
ዝንቱ ውእቱ ኅብስት ዘእምሰማይ ወረደ ወኵሉ ዘበልዐ እምኔሁ ኢይመውት ።
This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.
6:51 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ζῶν ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβάς · ἐάν τις φάγῃ ἐκ τοῦ ἐμοῦ ἄρτου , ζήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα · καὶ ὁ ἄρτος δὲ ὃν ἐγὼ δώσω ὑπὲρ τῆς τοῦ κόσμου ζωῆς , ἡ σάρξ μου ἐστίν .
Ego sum panis vivus , qui de caelo descendi .
አነ ውእቱ ኅብስተ ሕይወት ዘወረደ እምሰማይ ወዘበልዐ እምዝንቱ ኅብስት የሐዩ ለዓለም ወዝኒ ኅብስት ዘአነ እሁቦ ሥጋየ ውእቱ በእንተ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም ።
I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
6:52 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐμάχοντο οὖν πρὸς ἀλλήλους οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι λέγοντες · πῶς δύναται ἡμῖν οὗτος δοῦναι τὴν σάρκα φαγεῖν ;
Si quis manducaverit ex hoc pane , vivet in aeternum : et panis quem ego dabo , caro mea est pro mundi vita .
ወተጋዐዙ አይሁድ በበይናቲሆሙ እንዘ ይብሉ እፎ ይክል ዝንቱ የሀበነ ሥጋሁ ንብላዕ ።
The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
6:53 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς · ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , ἐὰν μὴ φάγητε τὴν σάρκα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ πίητε αὐτοῦ τὸ αἷμα , οὐκ ἔχετε ζωὴν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς .
Litigabant ergo Judaei ad invicem , dicentes : Quomodo potest hic nobis carnem suam dare ad manducandum ?
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አማን አማን እብለክሙ እመ ኢበላዕክሙ ሥጋሁ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ወኢሰተይክሙ ደሞ አልብክሙ ሕይወት ላዕሌክሙ ።
Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.
6:54 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ τρώγων μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ πίνων μου τὸ αἷμα ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον , κἀγὼ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ .
Dixit ergo eis Jesus : Amen , amen dico vobis : nisi manducaveritis carnem Filii hominis , et biberitis ejus sanguinem , non habebitis vitam in vobis .
ዘበልዐ ሥጋየ ወሰትየ ደምየ ቦ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም ወአነ አነሥኦ በደኃሪት ዕለት ።
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
6:55 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ γὰρ σάρξ μου ἀληθής ἐστιν βρῶσις , καὶ τὸ αἷμά μου ἀληθής ἐστιν πόσις .
Qui manducat meam carnem , et bibit meum sanguinem , habet vitam aeternam : et ego resuscitabo eum in novissimo die .
እስመ ሥጋየኒ መብልዐ ጽድቅ ዘበአማን ውእቱ ወደምየኒ ስቴ ሕይወት ዘበአማን ውእቱ ።
For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
6:56 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ τρώγων μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ πίνων μου τὸ αἷμα ἐν ἐμοὶ μένει κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ .
Caro enim mea vere est cibus : et sanguis meus , vere est potus ;
ዘበልዐ ሥጋየ ወሰትየ ደምየ ይሄሉ ምስሌየ ወአነሂ እሄሉ ምስሌሁ ።
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.
6:57 ⧉ ⤴︎ καθὼς ἀπέστειλέν με ὁ ζῶν πατὴρ κἀγὼ ζῶ διὰ τὸν πατέρα , καὶ ὁ τρώγων με κἀκεῖνος ζήσει δι’ ἐμέ .
qui manducat meam carnem et bibit meum sanguinem , in me manet , et ego in illo .
ወበከመ ዘፈነወኒ አብ ሕያው ወአነሂ ሕያው በእንተ አብ ወዘበልዐ ሥጋየ የሐዩ በእንቲኣየ ።
As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will also live because of me.
6:58 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καταβάς , οὐ καθὼς ἔφαγον οἱ πατέρες καὶ ἀπέθανον · ὁ τρώγων τοῦτον τὸν ἄρτον ζήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα .
Sicut misit me vivens Pater , et ego vivo propter Patrem : et qui manducat me , et ipse vivet propter me .
ዝኬ ውእቱ ኅብስት ዘእምሰማይ ወረደ ወአኮ በከመ በልዑ አበዊክሙ መና ወሞቱ ወዘበልዖሰ ለዝንቱ ኅብስት የሐዩ ለዓለም ።
This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
6:59 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα εἶπεν ἐν συναγωγῇ διδάσκων ἐν Καφαρναούμ .
Hic est panis qui de caelo descendit . Non sicut manducaverunt patres vestri manna , et mortui sunt . Qui manducat hunc panem , vivet in aeternum .
ወከመዝ ይቤሎሙ በምኵራብ ዘቅፍርናሆም እንዘ ይሜህሮሙ ።
He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
6:60 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πολλοὶ οὖν ἀκούσαντες ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ εἶπον · σκληρός ἐστιν ὁ λόγος οὗτος · τίς δύναται αὐτοῦ ἀκούειν ;
Haec dixit in synagoga docens , in Capharnaum .
ወብዙኃን እምአርዳኢሁ እለ ሰምዑ ዘንተ ወይቤሉ ዕፁብ ዝንቱ ነገር ወመኑ ይክል ሰሚዖቶ ።
Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?”
6:61 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰδὼς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὅτι γογγύζουσιν περὶ τούτου οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · τοῦτο ὑμᾶς σκανδαλίζει ;
Multi ergo audientes ex discipulis ejus , dixerunt : Durus est hic sermo , et quis potest eum audire ?
ወአእመሮሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ በመንፈሱ ከመ አንጐርጐሩ አርዳኢሁ በእንተ ዝንቱ ወይቤሎሙ ዝኑ ያዐቅፈክሙ ።
But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?
6:62 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν οὖν θεωρῆτε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀναβαίνοντα ὅπου ἦν τὸ πρότερον ;
Sciens autem Jesus apud semetipsum quia murmurarent de hoc discipuli ejus , dixit eis : Hoc vos scandalizat ?
እፎ እንከ እመ ርኢክምዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እንዘ የዐርግ ኀበ ሀሎ ቀዲሙ ።
Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
6:63 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν τὸ ζῳοποιοῦν , ἡ σὰρξ οὐκ ὠφελεῖ οὐδέν · τὰ ῥήματα ἃ ἐγὼ λελάληκα ὑμῖν πνεῦμά ἐστιν καὶ ζωή ἐστιν .
si ergo videritis Filium hominis ascendentem ubi erat prius ?
መንፈስ ውእቱ ዘያሐዩ ወሥጋሰ አልቦ ዘይበቍዕ ወኢምንተኒ ወዝኒ ቃል ዘአነ ነገርኩክሙ መንፈስ ውእቱ ወሕይወት ውእቱ ።
It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
6:64 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλ’ εἰσὶν ἐξ ὑμῶν τινες οἳ οὐ πιστεύουσιν . ᾔδει γὰρ ἐξ ἀρχῆς ὁ Ἰησοῦς τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ μὴ πιστεύοντες καὶ τίς ἐστιν ὁ παραδώσων αὐτόν .
Spiritus est qui vivificat : caro non prodest quidquam : verba quae ego locutus sum vobis , spiritus et vita sunt .
ወባሕቱ ቦ እምውስቴትክሙ እለ ኢየአምኑ እስመ የአምር እግዚእ ኢየሱስ እምትካት እለ መኑ እሙንቱ እለ ኢየአምኑ ቦቱ ወመኑ ውእቱ ዘያገብኦ ።
But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.
6:65 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔλεγεν · διὰ τοῦτο εἴρηκα ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐλθεῖν πρός ἐμὲ ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ δεδομένον αὐτῷ ἐκ τοῦ πατρός .
Sed sunt quidam ex vobis qui non credunt . Sciebat enim ab initio Jesus qui essent non credentes , et quis traditurus esset eum .
ወይቤሎሙ በእንተ ዝንቱ እብለክሙ አልቦ ዘይክል መጺአ ኀቤየ ለእመ ኢተውህበ ሎቱ እምኀበ አብ ።
He said, “For this cause I have said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.”
6:66 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐκ τούτου οὖν πολλοὶ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀπῆλθον εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ οὐκέτι μετ’ αὐτοῦ περιεπάτουν .
Et dicebat : Propterea dixi vobis , quia nemo potest venire ad me , nisi fuerit ei datum a Patre meo .
ወበእንተ ዝንቱ ብዙኃን እምአርዳኢሁ እለ ገብኡ ድኅሬሆሙ ወኢሖሩ እንከ ምስሌሁ ።
At this, many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.
6:67 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς δώδεκα · μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς θέλετε ὑπάγειν ;
Ex hoc multi discipulorum ejus abierunt retro : et jam non cum illo ambulabant .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ አንትሙኒ ትፈቅዱኑ ትሑሩ ።
Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”
6:68 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Σίμων Πέτρος · κύριε , πρὸς τίνα ἀπελευσόμεθα ; ῥήματα ζωῆς αἰωνίου ἔχεις ·
Dixit ergo Jesus ad duodecim : Numquid et vos vultis abire ?
ወአውሥአ ስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ወይቤሎ እግዚኦ ኀበ መኑ ነሐውር እንዘ ቃለ ሕይወት ዘለዓለም ብከ ።
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
6:69 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἡμεῖς πεπιστεύκαμεν καὶ ἐγνώκαμεν ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ἅγιος τοῦ θεοῦ .
Respondit ergo ei Simon Petrus : Domine , ad quem ibimus ? verba vitae aeternae habes :
ወንሕንሰ አመነ ወአእመርነ ከመ አንተ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ ወልዱ ለእግዚአብሔር ሕያው ።
We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
6:70 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς · οὐκ ἐγὼ ὑμᾶς τοὺς δώδεκα ἐξελεξάμην ; καὶ ἐξ ὑμῶν εἷς διάβολός ἐστιν .
et nos credidimus , et cognovimus quia tu es Christus Filius Dei .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ አኮኑ አነ ኀረይኩክሙ ለዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ወባሕቱ አሐዱ እምኔክሙ ሰይጣን ውእቱ ።
Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
6:71 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔλεγεν δὲ τὸν Ἰούδαν Σίμωνος Ἰσκαριώτου · οὗτος γὰρ ἔμελλεν αὐτὸν παραδιδόναι , εἷς ὢν ἐκ τῶν δώδεκα .
Respondit eis Jesus : Nonne ego vos duodecim elegi : et ex vobis unus diabolus est ?
ወዘንተሰ ይቤ እንበይነ ይሁዳ ወልደ ስምዖን አስቆሮታዊ እስመ ውእቱ ሀለዎ ያግብኦ ወውእቱ አሐዱ እምዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ።
Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.
