39:1
הֲיָדַ֗עְתָּ עֵ֭ת לֶ֣דֶת יַעֲלֵי־סָ֑לַע חֹלֵ֖ל אַיָּל֣וֹת תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃
εἰ ἔγνως καιρὸν τοκετοῦ τραγελάφων πέτρας ἐφύλαξας δὲ ὠδῖνας ἐλάφων
Numquid nosti tempus partus ibicum in petris, vel parturientes cervas observasti ?
ተአምርሁ፡ ጊዜ፡ ይትወለድ፡ ኃየል፡ ወዐቀብኮኑ፡ በውስተ፡ ማሕምም።
“Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears fawns?
39:2
תִּסְפֹּ֣ר יְרָחִ֣ים תְּמַלֶּ֑אנָה וְ֝יָדַעְתָּ֗ עֵ֣ת לִדְתָּֽנָה׃
ἠρίθμησας δὲ αὐτῶν μῆνας πλήρεις τοκετοῦ ὠδῖνας δὲ αὐτῶν ἔλυσας
Dinumerasti menses conceptus earum, et scisti tempus partus earum ?
ወኈለቈኑ፡ አውራኂሁ፡ ማእዜ፡ ይትወለድ፡ ወፈታሕ፡ ኮኑ፡ እምሕማም።
Can you count the months that they fulfill? Or do you know the time when they give birth?
39:3
תִּ֭כְרַעְנָה יַלְדֵיהֶ֣ן תְּפַלַּ֑חְנָה חֶבְלֵיהֶ֥ם תְּשַׁלַּֽחְנָה׃
ἐξέθρεψας δὲ αὐτῶν τὰ παιδία ἔξω φόβου ὠδῖνας αὐτῶν ἐξαποστελεῖς
Incurvantur ad foetum, et pariunt, et rugitus emittunt.
ወሰሰይኮሙኑ፡ ለደቂቁ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ፍርሃት፡ ወታአትትኑ፡ ሕማሞሙ።
They bow themselves. They bear their young. They end their labor pains.
39:4
יַחְלְמ֣וּ בְ֭נֵיהֶם יִרְבּ֣וּ בַבָּ֑ר יָ֝צְא֗וּ וְלֹא־שָׁ֥בוּ לָֽמוֹ׃
ἀπορρήξουσιν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν πληθυνθήσονται ἐν γενήματι ἐξελεύσονται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀνακάμψουσιν αὐτοῖς
Separantur filii earum, et pergunt ad pastum : egrediuntur, et non revertuntur ad eas.
ወያመሥጡ፡ እጐሊሆሙ፡ ወትዝኁ፡ ወይትዋለዱ፡ ወይወጽኡ፡ ወኢይገብኡ፡ ኀቤሆሙ።
Their young ones become strong. They grow up in the open field. They go out, and don’t return again.
39:5
מִי־שִׁלַּ֣ח פֶּ֣רֶא חׇפְשִׁ֑י וּמֹסְר֥וֹת עָ֝ר֗וֹד מִ֣י פִתֵּֽחַ׃
τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἀφεὶς ὄνον ἄγριον ἐλεύθερον δεσμοὺς δὲ αὐτοῦ τίς ἔλυσεν
Quis dimisit onagrum liberum, et vincula ejus quis solvit ?
ወመኑ፡ ዘአግአዞ፡ ለሐልስትዮ፡ ወመኑ፡ ፈትሐ፡ ማእሠሮ።
“Who has set the wild donkey free? Or who has loosened the bonds of the swift donkey,
39:6
אֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֣מְתִּי עֲרָבָ֣ה בֵית֑וֹ וּֽמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָ֥יו מְלֵחָֽה׃
ἐθέμην δὲ τὴν δίαιταν αὐτοῦ ἔρημον καὶ τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτοῦ ἁλμυρίδα
cui dedi in solitudine domum, et tabernacula ejus in terra salsuginis.
ወረሰየ፡ ሎቱ፡ ገዳመ፡ ንብረቶ፡ ወማኅደሮሂ፡ ውስተ፡ ፄው።
whose home I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling place?
39:7
יִ֭שְׂחַק לַהֲמ֣וֹן קִרְיָ֑ה תְּשֻׁא֥וֹת נֹ֝גֵ֗שׂ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָֽע׃
καταγελῶν πολυοχλίας πόλεως μέμψιν δὲ φορολόγου οὐκ ἀκούων
Contemnit multitudinem civitatis : clamorem exactoris non audit.
ወይስሕቆሙ፡ ለበረዙኀን፡ አሕዛብ፡ ወኢይሰምዕ፡ ድምፀ፡ ዘይጌርሞ።
He scorns the tumult of the city, neither does he hear the shouting of the driver.
39:8
יְת֣וּר הָרִ֣ים מִרְעֵ֑הוּ וְאַחַ֖ר כׇּל־יָר֣וֹק יִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃
κατασκέψεται ὄρη νομὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ὀπίσω παντὸς χλωροῦ ζητεῖ
Circumspicit montes pascuae suae, et virentia quaeque perquirit.
ወየዓይል፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳም፡ ይትረዐይ፡ ወኀበ፡ ሐመልማል፡ ይዴግን።
The range of the mountains is his pasture. He searches after every green thing.
39:9
הֲיֹ֣אבֶה רֵּ֣ים עׇבְדֶ֑ךָ אִם־יָ֝לִ֗ין עַל־אֲבוּסֶֽךָ׃
βουλήσεται δέ σοι μονόκερως δουλεῦσαι ἢ κοιμηθῆναι ἐπὶ φάτνης σου
Numquid volet rhinoceros servire tibi, aut morabitur ad praesepe tuum ?
ወይፈቅድኑ፡ ይትቀነይ፡ ለከ፡ አርዌ፡ ሐሪስ፡ ወይበይት፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትከ።
“Will the wild ox be content to serve you? Or will he stay by your feeding trough?
39:10
הֲֽתִקְשׇׁר־רֵ֭ים בְּתֶ֣לֶם עֲבֹת֑וֹ אִם־יְשַׂדֵּ֖ד עֲמָקִ֣ים אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃
δήσεις δὲ ἐν ἱμᾶσι ζυγὸν αὐτοῦ ἢ ἑλκύσει σου αὔλακας ἐν πεδίῳ
Numquid alligabis rhinocerota ad arandum loro tuo, aut confringet glebas vallium post te ?
ወተአዕሮኑ፡ በመዕመድ፡ ወትወዲ፡ አርዑተ፡ ውስተ፡ ክሣዱ፡ ወጠሐርስ፡ ለከ፡ ትልመ፡ ገራውሂከ።
Can you hold the wild ox in the furrow with his harness? Or will he till the valleys after you?
39:11
הֲֽתִבְטַח־בּ֭וֹ כִּֽי־רַ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ וְתַעֲזֹ֖ב אֵלָ֣יו יְגִיעֶֽךָ׃
πέποιθας δὲ ἐπ’ αὐτῷ ὅτι πολλὴ ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ ἐπαφήσεις δὲ αὐτῷ τὰ ἔργα σου
Numquid fiduciam habebis in magna fortitudine ejus, et derelinques ei labores tuos ?
ወትተፊ፡ ከላዕሌሁ፡ እስመ፡ ብዙኅ፡ ኃይሉ፡ ወተኀድግ፡ ዲቤሁ፡ ተግባረከ።
Will you trust him, because his strength is great? Or will you leave to him your labor?
39:12
הֲתַאֲמִ֣ין בּ֭וֹ כִּֽי־[יָשִׁ֣יב] (ישוב) זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְֽגׇרְנְךָ֥ יֶאֱסֹֽף׃
πιστεύσεις δὲ ὅτι ἀποδώσει σοι τὸν σπόρον εἰσοίσει δέ σου τὸν ἅλωνα
Numquid credes illi quod sementem reddat tibi, et aream tuam congreget ?
ወትትአመኖ፡ ከመ፡ ያእቱ፡ ለከ፡ ተግባረ፡ ማእረርከ፡ ወያመጽእ፡ ለከ፡ እክለከ።
Will you confide in him, that he will bring home your seed, and gather the grain of your threshing floor?
39:13
כְּנַף־רְנָנִ֥ים נֶעֱלָ֑סָה אִם־אֶ֝בְרָ֗ה חֲסִידָ֥ה וְנֹצָֽה׃
πτέρυξ τερπομένων νεελασα ἐὰν συλλάβῃ ασιδα καὶ νεσσα
Penna struthionis similis est pennis herodii et accipitris.
ሰገኖ፡ ዘታዘልፍ፡ ወትነብር፡ ወእምከመ፡ ፀንሰት፡ ትፈቅድ፡ ትብላዕ፡ ወታፀምእ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ዕዘኒሃ።
“The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the feathers and plumage of love?
39:14
כִּי־תַעֲזֹ֣ב לָאָ֣רֶץ בֵּצֶ֑יהָ וְֽעַל־עָפָ֥ר תְּחַמֵּֽם׃
ὅτι ἀφήσει εἰς γῆν τὰ ᾠὰ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπὶ χοῦν θάλψει
Quando derelinquit ova sua in terra, tu forsitan in pulvere calefacies ea ?
ወተኀዕን፡ ውስተ፡ መሬት፡ እጐሊሃ፡ ወታኀድጎሙ፡ ኀበ፡ ወለደት፡ ወትከይድ፡ አራዊት።
For she leaves her eggs on the earth, warms them in the dust,
39:15
וַ֭תִּשְׁכַּח כִּי־רֶ֣גֶל תְּזוּרֶ֑הָ וְחַיַּ֖ת הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה תְדוּשֶֽׁהָ׃
καὶ ἐπελάθετο ὅτι ποὺς σκορπιεῖ καὶ θηρία ἀγροῦ καταπατήσει
Obliviscitur quod pes conculcet ea, aut bestia agri conterat.
ወታልህቅ፡ ደቂቃ፡ ወተኃድህ፡ ህየ፡ ወበከንቱ፡ ትፃሙ፡ ወተሐምም፡ ወአልባቲ፡ ፍርሀት።
and forgets that the foot may crush them, or that the wild animal may trample them.
39:16
הִקְשִׁ֣יחַ בָּנֶ֣יהָ לְּלֹא־לָ֑הּ לְרִ֖יק יְגִיעָ֣הּ בְּלִי־פָֽחַד׃
ἀπεσκλήρυνεν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς ὥστε μὴ ἑαυτῇ εἰς κενὸν ἐκοπίασεν ἄνευ φόβου
Duratur ad filios suos, quasi non sint sui : frustra laboravit, nullo timore cogente.
እስመ፡ ወሀባ፡ ላቲ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ጥበበ፡ ወከፈላ፡ ምክረ፡ ወጥበበ።
She deals harshly with her young ones, as if they were not hers. Though her labor is in vain, she is without fear,
39:17
כִּי־הִשָּׁ֣הּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ חׇכְמָ֑ה וְלֹא־חָ֥לַק לָ֝֗הּ בַּבִּינָֽה׃
ὅτι κατεσιώπησεν αὐτῇ ὁ θεὸς σοφίαν καὶ οὐκ ἐμέρισεν αὐτῇ ἐν τῇ συνέσει
Privavit enim eam Deus sapientia, nec dedit illi intelligentiam.
ወበዓመቱ፡ ታቸውኅ፡ ወታልኅቅ፡ ወትስሕቅ፡ ዲበ፡ ፈረስ፡ ወዘይፄዓኖ።
because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding.
39:18
כָּ֭עֵת בַּמָּר֣וֹם תַּמְרִ֑יא תִּֽשְׂחַ֥ק לַ֝סּ֗וּס וּלְרֹכְבֽוֹ׃ {פ}
κατὰ καιρὸν ἐν ὕψει ὑψώσει καταγελάσεται ἵππου καὶ τοῦ ἐπιβάτου αὐτοῦ
Cum tempus fuerit, in altum alas erigit : deridet equum et ascensorem ejus.
ወአንተኑ፡ ወሀብኮ፡ ኃይለለፈረስ፡ ወአልቦስኮ፡ ግርማ፡ ዲበ፡ ክሳዱ።
When she lifts up herself on high, she scorns the horse and his rider.
39:19
הֲתִתֵּ֣ן לַסּ֣וּס גְּבוּרָ֑ה הֲתַלְבִּ֖ישׁ צַוָּאר֣וֹ רַעְמָֽה׃
ἦ σὺ περιέθηκας ἵππῳ δύναμιν ἐνέδυσας δὲ τραχήλῳ αὐτοῦ φόβον
Numquid praebebis equo fortitudinem, aut circumdabis collo ejus hinnitum ?
ወአስተረደይኮኑ፡ ለቀትል፡ በንዋየ፡ ሐቅል።
“Have you given the horse might? Have you clothed his neck with a quivering mane?
39:20
הֲֽ֭תַרְעִישֶׁנּוּ כָּאַרְבֶּ֑ה ה֖וֹד נַחְר֣וֹ אֵימָֽה׃
περιέθηκας δὲ αὐτῷ πανοπλίαν δόξαν δὲ στηθέων αὐτοῦ τόλμῃ
Numquid suscitabis eum quasi locustas ? gloria narium ejus terror.
ወበግርማ፡ እንግድዓሁ፡ እንዘ፡ ይረውጽ፡ ያዐምቅ፡ ምድረ፡ በእግሩ፡ ወይመጽአ፡ ገዳመ፡ በኃይሉ።
Have you made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is awesome.
39:21
יַחְפְּר֣וּ בָ֭עֵמֶק וְיָשִׂ֣ישׂ בְּכֹ֑חַ יֵ֝צֵ֗א לִקְרַאת־נָֽשֶׁק׃
ἀνορύσσων ἐν πεδίῳ γαυριᾷ ἐκπορεύεται δὲ εἰς πεδίον ἐν ἰσχύι
Terram ungula fodit ; exultat audacter : in occursum pergit armatis.
ወይስሕቆ፡ ለሐዕ፡ ዘይትቤቀሎ፡ ወኢይትመየጥ፡ እም፡ ሐፅ፡፡ 22፡ ወበላዕሌሁ፡ ይጸንዕ፡ ቀስተ፡ ወመጥባሕት፡ ወኲናት።
He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength. He goes out to meet the armed men.
39:22
יִשְׂחַ֣ק לְ֭פַחַד וְלֹ֣א יֵחָ֑ת וְלֹא־יָ֝שׁ֗וּב מִפְּנֵי־חָֽרֶב׃
συναντῶν βέλει καταγελᾷ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποστραφῇ ἀπὸ σιδήρου
Contemnit pavorem, nec cedit gladio.
—
He mocks at fear, and is not dismayed, neither does he turn back from the sword.
39:23
עָ֭לָיו תִּרְנֶ֣ה אַשְׁפָּ֑ה לַ֖הַב חֲנִ֣ית וְכִידֽוֹן׃
ἐπ’ αὐτῷ γαυριᾷ τόξον καὶ μάχαιρα
Super ipsum sonabit pharetra ; vibrabit hasta et clypeus :
ወበመዓቱ፡ ያማስን፡ ምድረ፡ ወኢይትአመን፡ እንከ፡ እስከ፡ ሶበ፡ ይትነፋሕ፡ ቀርን።
The quiver rattles against him, the flashing spear and the javelin.
39:24
בְּרַ֣עַשׁ וְ֭רֹגֶז יְגַמֶּא־אָ֑רֶץ וְלֹא־יַ֝אֲמִ֗ין כִּי־ק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָֽר׃
καὶ ὀργῇ ἀφανιεῖ τὴν γῆν καὶ οὐ μὴ πιστεύσῃ ἕως ἂν σημάνῃ σάλπιγξ
fervens et fremens sorbet terram, nec reputat tubae sonare clangorem.
ወእምከመ፡ ተነፍሐ፡ ቀርን፡ ይብል፡ እንቋፅእምርኁቅ፡ ወያፄንዎ፡ ለቀትል።
He eats up the ground with fierceness and rage, neither does he stand still at the sound of the trumpet.
39:25
בְּדֵ֤י שֹׁפָ֨ר׀ יֹ֘אמַ֤ר הֶאָ֗ח וּֽ֭מֵרָחוֹק יָרִ֣יחַ מִלְחָמָ֑ה רַ֥עַם שָׂ֝רִ֗ים וּתְרוּעָֽה׃
σάλπιγγος δὲ σημαινούσης λέγει εὖγε πόρρωθεν δὲ ὀσφραίνεται πολέμου σὺν ἅλματι καὶ κραυγῇ
Ubi audierit buccinam, dicit : Vah ! procul odoratur bellum : exhortationem ducum, et ululatum exercitus.
ወበጥበበከኑ፡ ይቀውም፡ ሆባይ፡ ሰፊሖ፡ ከነፊሁ፡ ወኢይትሐወስ፡ ተመይጦ፡ መንገለ፡ ደም።
As often as the trumpet sounds he snorts, ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
39:26
הֲֽ֭מִבִּינָ֣תְךָ יַאֲבֶר־נֵ֑ץ יִפְרֹ֖שׂ כְּנָפָ֣ו לְתֵימָֽן׃
ἐκ δὲ τῆς σῆς ἐπιστήμης ἕστηκεν ἱέραξ ἀναπετάσας τὰς πτέρυγας ἀκίνητος καθορῶν τὰ πρὸς νότον
Numquid per sapientiam tuam plumescit accipiter, expandens alas suas ad austrum ?
ወባትእዛዝከኑ፡ ይትሌዓል፡ ንስር፡ ወአውስትኒ፡ ሐቂፎ፡ እጐሉሁ፡ ይበይት።
“Is it by your wisdom that the hawk soars, and stretches her wings toward the south?
39:27
אִם־עַל־פִּ֭יךָ יַגְבִּ֣יהַּ נָ֑שֶׁר וְ֝כִ֗י יָרִ֥ים קִנּֽוֹ׃
ἐπὶ δὲ σῷ προστάγματι ὑψοῦται ἀετός γὺψ δὲ ἐπὶ νοσσιᾶς αὐτοῦ καθεσθεὶς αὐλίζεται
Numquid ad praeceptum tuum elevabitur aquila, et in arduis ponet nidum suum ?
ወውስተ፡ በዓታተ፡ ኰኵሕ፡ የኀድር፡ ወየኃብእ፡ ህየ፡ እጐሊሁ።
Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up, and makes his nest on high?
39:28
סֶ֣לַע יִ֭שְׁכֹּן וְיִתְלֹנָ֑ן עַ֥ל שֶׁן־סֶ֝֗לַע וּמְצוּדָֽה׃
ἐπ’ ἐξοχῇ πέτρας καὶ ἀποκρύφῳ
In petris manet, et in praeruptis silicibus commoratur, atque inaccessis rupibus.
ወአንቢሮ፡ ይረውጹ፡ ኀበ፡ ደም፡ ወኀበ፡ ቦ፡ በድን፡ ይባጽሑ፡ ሶቤሃ።
On the cliff he dwells and makes his home, on the point of the cliff and the stronghold.
39:29
מִשָּׁ֥ם חָֽפַר־אֹ֑כֶל לְ֝מֵרָח֗וֹק עֵינָ֥יו יַבִּֽיטוּ׃
ἐκεῖσε ὢν ζητεῖ τὰ σῖτα πόρρωθεν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ σκοπεύουσιν
Inde contemplatur escam, et de longe oculi ejus prospiciunt.
—
From there he spies out the prey. His eyes see it afar off.
39:30
וְאֶפְרֹחָ֥ו יְעַלְעוּ־דָ֑ם וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר חֲ֝לָלִ֗ים שָׁ֣ם הֽוּא׃ {פ}
νεοσσοὶ δὲ αὐτοῦ φύρονται ἐν αἵματι οὗ δ’ ἂν ὦσι τεθνεῶτες παραχρῆμα εὑρίσκονται
Pulli ejus lambent sanguinem : et ubicumque cadaver fuerit, statim adest.

His young ones also suck up blood. Where the slain are, there he is.”
39:31——
Et adjecit Dominus, et locutus est ad Job :

Numquid qui contendit cum Deo, tam facile conquiescit ? utique qui arguit Deum, debet respondere ei.

Respondens autem Job Domino, dixit :

Qui leviter locutus sum, respondere quid possum ? manum meam ponam super os meum.

Unum locutus sum, quod utinam non dixissem : et alterum, quibus ultra non addam.
