12:1
צַדִּ֤יק אַתָּה֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּ֥י אָרִ֖יב אֵלֶ֑יךָ אַ֤ךְ מִשְׁפָּטִים֙ אֲדַבֵּ֣ר אֹתָ֔ךְ מַדּ֗וּעַ דֶּ֤רֶךְ רְשָׁעִים֙ צָלֵ֔חָה שָׁל֖וּ כׇּל־בֹּ֥גְדֵי בָֽגֶד׃
δίκαιος εἶ κύριε ὅτι ἀπολογήσομαι πρὸς σέ πλὴν κρίματα λαλήσω πρὸς σέ τί ὅτι ὁδὸς ἀσεβῶν εὐοδοῦται εὐθήνησαν πάντες οἱ ἀθετοῦντες ἀθετήματα
Justus quidem tu es, Domine, si disputem tecum : verumtamen justa loquar ad te : Quare via impiorum prosperatur ; bene est omnibus qui praevaricantur et inique agunt ?
ጻድቅ፡ አንተ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ፍትሐ፡ እትናገር፡ ለምንት፡ ፍኖተ፡ ኀጥኣን፡ ድሉተ፡ ይእቲ፡ ተፈሥሑ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ዓላውያን፡ በማዕሌት።
You are righteous, Yahweh, when I contend with you; yet I would like to plead a case with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?
12:2
נְטַעְתָּם֙ גַּם־שֹׁרָ֔שׁוּ יֵלְכ֖וּ גַּם־עָ֣שׂוּ פֶ֑רִי קָר֤וֹב אַתָּה֙ בְּפִיהֶ֔ם וְרָח֖וֹק מִכִּלְיוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
ἐφύτευσας αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐρριζώθησαν ἐτεκνοποίησαν καὶ ἐποίησαν καρπόν ἐγγὺς εἶ σὺ τοῦ στόματος αὐτῶν καὶ πόρρω ἀπὸ τῶν νεφρῶν αὐτῶν
Plantasti eos, et radicem miserunt : proficiunt, et faciunt fructum : prope es tu ori eorum, et longe a renibus eorum.
ወተከልኮሙ፡ በስፍሐ፡ ሥርዎሙ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ፍሬ፡ ወሰፍሀ፡ ሥርዎሙ፡ ቅሩብ፡ አንተ፡ ውስተ፡ አፉሆሙ፡ ወርኁቅ፡ እምነ፡ ኩልያቲሆሙ፡ ወለሊከ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ተአምረኒ፡ ወትሌብወኒ።
You have planted them. Yes, they have taken root. They grow. Yes, they produce fruit. You are near in their mouth, and far from their heart.
12:3
וְאַתָּ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ יְדַעְתָּ֔נִי תִּרְאֵ֕נִי וּבָחַנְתָּ֥ לִבִּ֖י אִתָּ֑ךְ הַתִּקֵם֙ כְּצֹ֣אן לְטִבְחָ֔ה וְהַקְדִּשֵׁ֖ם לְי֥וֹם הֲרֵגָֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ σύ κύριε γινώσκεις με δεδοκίμακας τὴν καρδίαν μου ἐναντίον σου ἅγνισον αὐτοὺς εἰς ἡμέραν σφαγῆς αὐτῶν
Et tu, Domine, nosti me, vidisti me, et probasti cor meum tecum. Congrega eos quasi gregem ad victimam, et sanctifica eos in die occisionis.
ወፈተንኮ፡ ለልብየ፡ በቅድሜከ፡ ትጸንሖሙ፡ ከመ፡ በግዕ፡ ለተጠብሐ፡ ወትቄድሶሙ፡ ለዕለተ፡ ቀትል።
But you, Yahweh, know me. You see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
12:4
עַד־מָתַי֙ תֶּאֱבַ֣ל הָאָ֔רֶץ וְעֵ֥שֶׂב כׇּל־הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה יִיבָ֑שׁ מֵרָעַ֣ת יֹֽשְׁבֵי־בָ֗הּ סָפְתָ֤ה בְהֵמוֹת֙ וָע֔וֹף כִּ֣י אָֽמְר֔וּ לֹ֥א יִרְאֶ֖ה אֶת־אַחֲרִיתֵֽנוּ׃
ἕως πότε πενθήσει ἡ γῆ καὶ πᾶς ὁ χόρτος τοῦ ἀγροῦ ξηρανθήσεται ἀπὸ κακίας τῶν κατοικούντων ἐν αὐτῇ ἠφανίσθησαν κτήνη καὶ πετεινά ὅτι εἶπαν οὐκ ὄψεται ὁ θεὸς ὁδοὺς ἡμῶν
Usquequo lugebit terra, et herba omnis regionis siccabitur, propter malitiam habitantium in ea ? Consumptum est animal, et volucre, quoniam dixerunt : Non videbit novissima nostra.
እስከ፡ ማዕዜኑ፡ ትላሁ፡ ምድር፡ የብሰ፡ ሣዕረ፡ ገዳም፡ በእከዮሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስቴታ፡ ወኀልቁ፡ እንስሳ፡ ወአዕዋፍ፡ እስመ፡ ይቤሉ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘይሬኢ፡ ደኀሪተነ።
How long will the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? Because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein, the animals and birds are consumed; because they said, “He won’t see our latter end.”
12:5
כִּ֣י אֶת־רַגְלִ֥ים׀רַ֙צְתָּה֙ וַיַּלְא֔וּךָ וְאֵ֥יךְ תְּתַחֲרֶ֖ה אֶת־הַסּוּסִ֑ים וּבְאֶ֤רֶץ שָׁלוֹם֙ אַתָּ֣ה בוֹטֵ֔חַ וְאֵ֥יךְ תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה בִּגְא֥וֹן הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
σοῦ οἱ πόδες τρέχουσιν καὶ ἐκλύουσίν σε πῶς παρασκευάσῃ ἐφ’ ἵπποις καὶ ἐν γῇ εἰρήνης σὺ πέποιθας πῶς ποιήσεις ἐν φρυάγματι τοῦ Ιορδάνου
Si cum peditibus currens laborasti, quomodo contendere poteris cum equis ? cum autem in terra pacis securus fueris, quid facies in superbia Jordanis ?
አዕጋሪከ፡ ይረውጻ፡ ወይደክማከ፡ ለምንት፡ ታስተሬሲ፡ አፍራሰ፡ በብሔረ፡ ስንዕ፡ እንተ፡ ትትአመን፡ ወእፎ፡ ትገብር፡ በኀሣረ፡ ዮርዳኖስ።
“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? Though in a land of peace you are secure, yet how will you do in the pride of the Jordan?
12:6
כִּ֧י גַם־אַחֶ֣יךָ וּבֵית־אָבִ֗יךָ גַּם־הֵ֙מָּה֙ בָּ֣גְדוּ בָ֔ךְ גַּם־הֵ֛מָּה קָרְא֥וּ אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ מָלֵ֑א אַל־תַּאֲמֵ֣ן בָּ֔ם כִּֽי־יְדַבְּר֥וּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ טוֹבֽוֹת׃ {ס}
ὅτι καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ οὗτοι ἠθέτησάν σε καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐβόησαν ἐκ τῶν ὀπίσω σου ἐπισυνήχθησαν μὴ πιστεύσῃς ἐν αὐτοῖς ὅτι λαλήσουσιν πρὸς σὲ καλά
Nam et fratres tui, et domus patris tui, etiam ipsi pugnaverunt adversum te, et clamaverunt post te plena voce : ne credas eis, cum locuti fuerint tibi bona.
እስመ፡ አኃዊከ፡ ወቤተ፡ አቡከ፡ እሙንቱ፡ ክህዱከ፡ ወወውዑ፡ ወአንገገለጉ፡ በድኅሬከ፡ ብዙኃን፡ ኢትእመኖሙ፡ አመ፡ ሠናየ፡ ነበቡ፡ ላዕሌከ።
For even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you! Even they have cried aloud after you! Don’t believe them, though they speak beautiful words to you.
12:7
עָזַ֙בְתִּי֙ אֶת־בֵּיתִ֔י נָטַ֖שְׁתִּי אֶת־נַחֲלָתִ֑י נָתַ֛תִּי אֶת־יְדִד֥וּת נַפְשִׁ֖י בְּכַ֥ף אֹיְבֶֽיהָ׃
ἐγκαταλέλοιπα τὸν οἶκόν μου ἀφῆκα τὴν κληρονομίαν μου ἔδωκα τὴν ἠγαπημένην ψυχήν μου εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθρῶν αὐτῆς
Reliqui domum meam ; dimisi haereditatem meam : dedi dilectam animam meam in manu inimicorum ejus.
ኀደጉ፡ ቤትየ፡ ወኀደጉ፡ ርስትየ፡ ወወሀብክዋ፡ ፍቅርተ፡ ነፍስየ፡ ውስተ፡ እደ፡ ፀራ።
“I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
12:8
הָיְתָה־לִּ֥י נַחֲלָתִ֖י כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה בַיָּ֑עַר נָתְנָ֥ה עָלַ֛י בְּקוֹלָ֖הּ עַל־כֵּ֥ן שְׂנֵאתִֽיהָ׃
ἐγενήθη ἡ κληρονομία μου ἐμοὶ ὡς λέων ἐν δρυμῷ ἔδωκεν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῆς διὰ τοῦτο ἐμίσησα αὐτήν
Facta est mihi haereditas mea quasi leo in silva : dedit contra me vocem, ideo odivi eam.
ወኮነተኒ፡ ሊተ፡ ርስትየ፡ ከመ፡ አንበሳ፡ በገዳም፡ በእንተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ጸላእክዋ።
My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest. She has uttered her voice against me. Therefore I have hated her.
12:9
הַעַ֨יִט צָב֤וּעַ נַֽחֲלָתִי֙ לִ֔י הַעַ֖יִט סָבִ֣יב עָלֶ֑יהָ לְכ֗וּ אִסְפ֛וּ כׇּל־חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה הֵתָ֥יוּ לְאׇכְלָֽה׃
μὴ σπήλαιον ὑαίνης ἡ κληρονομία μου ἐμοὶ ἢ σπήλαιον κύκλῳ αὐτῆς βαδίσατε συναγάγετε πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ ἐλθέτωσαν τοῦ φαγεῖν αὐτήν
Numquid avis discolor haereditas mea mihi ? numquid avis tincta per totum ? Venite, congregamini, omnes bestiae terrae : properate ad devorandum.
ግበ፡ ዝዕብኑ፡ ቤትየ፡ ባሕቱ፡ ባአተ፡ ፈያት፡ እቲ፡ ርስትየ፡ ዘየዐውዱ፡ ዐውዳ፡ ወይትጋብኡ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ አራዊተ፡ ገዳም፡ ወይመጽኡ፡ ወይብልዋ።
Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her all around? Go, assemble all the animals of the field. Bring them to devour.
12:10
רֹעִ֤ים רַבִּים֙ שִׁחֲת֣וּ כַרְמִ֔י בֹּסְס֖וּ אֶת־חֶלְקָתִ֑י נָ֥תְנ֛וּ אֶת־חֶלְקַ֥ת חֶמְדָּתִ֖י לְמִדְבַּ֥ר שְׁמָמָֽה׃
ποιμένες πολλοὶ διέφθειραν τὸν ἀμπελῶνά μου ἐμόλυναν τὴν μερίδα μου ἔδωκαν μερίδα ἐπιθυμητήν μου εἰς ἔρημον ἄβατον
Pastores multi demoliti sunt vineam meam, conculcaverunt partem meam, dederunt portionem meam desiderabilem in desertum solitudinis.
ኖሎት፡ ብዙኃን፡ አማሰኑ፡ አጸደ፡ ወይንየ፡ ወአርኰሱ፡ መክፈልትየ፡ ወረሰይዋ፡ ለመክፈልትየ፡ እንተ፡ አፈቅር፡ በድወ፡ ወዐፀ።
Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
12:11
שָׂמָהּ֙ לִשְׁמָמָ֔ה אָבְלָ֥ה עָלַ֖י שְׁמֵמָ֑ה נָשַׁ֙מָּה֙ כׇּל־הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין אִ֖ישׁ שָׂ֥ם עַל־לֵֽב׃
ἐτέθη εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἀπωλείας δῑ ἐμὲ ἀφανισμῷ ἠφανίσθη πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἀνὴρ τιθέμενος ἐν καρδίᾳ
Posuerunt eam in dissipationem, luxitque super me : desolatione desolata est omnis terra, quia nullus est qui recogitet corde.
ወኮነት፡ ለሙስና፡ ወለሀጒል፡ በላዕሌሃ፡ ወበእንቱኣየ፡ ኀልቀት፡ ኵላ፡ ምድር፡ ወማሰነት፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ሰብእ፡ ዘይሠይም፡ ጽድቀበልቡ።
They have made it a desolation. It mourns to me, being desolate. The whole land is made desolate, because no one cares.
12:12
עַֽל־כׇּל־שְׁפָיִ֣ם בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר בָּ֚אוּ שֹֽׁדְדִ֔ים כִּ֣י חֶ֤רֶב לַֽיהֹוָה֙ אֹֽכְלָ֔ה מִקְצֵה־אֶ֖רֶץ וְעַד־קְצֵ֣ה הָאָ֑רֶץ אֵ֥ין שָׁל֖וֹם לְכׇל־בָּשָֽׂר׃ {ס}
ἐπὶ πᾶσαν διεκβολὴν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἦλθον ταλαιπωροῦντες ὅτι μάχαιρα τοῦ κυρίου καταφάγεται ἀπ’ ἄκρου τῆς γῆς ἕως ἄκρου τῆς γῆς οὐκ ἔστιν εἰρήνη πάσῃ σαρκί
Super omnes vias deserti venerunt vastatores, quia gladius Domini devorabit : ab extremo terrae usque ad extremum ejus, non est pax universae carni.
ኀበ፡ ኵሉ፡ ገዳም፡ ባኡ፡ ወሑሩ፡ ገዳመ፡ ኅሡራን፡ እስመ፡ መጥባሕቱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ትበልዕ፡ እምአጽናፈ፡ ምድር፡ እስከ፡ አጽናፊሃ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ሰላም፡ ለኵሉ፡ ዘሥጋ።
Destroyers have come on all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of Yahweh devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No flesh has peace.
12:13
זָרְע֤וּ חִטִּים֙ וְקֹצִ֣ים קָצָ֔רוּ נֶחְל֖וּ לֹ֣א יוֹעִ֑לוּ וּבֹ֙שׁוּ֙ מִתְּבוּאֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם מֵחֲר֖וֹן אַף־יְהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}
σπείρατε πυροὺς καὶ ἀκάνθας θερίσατε οἱ κλῆροι αὐτῶν οὐκ ὠφελήσουσιν αὐτούς αἰσχύνθητε ἀπὸ καυχήσεως ὑμῶν ἀπὸ ὀνειδισμοῦ ἔναντι κυρίου
Seminaverunt triticum, et spinas messuerunt : haereditatem acceperunt, et non eis proderit. Confundemini a fructibus vestris propter iram furoris Domini.
ትዘርዑ፡ ሥርናየ፡ ወተዓርሩ፡ አሥዋከ፡ ወኢይበቊዓክሙ፡ መክፈልትክሙ፡ ተሐፈርክሙ፡ እማዕረርክሙ፡ ወኀሠርክሙ፡ እመዓተ፡ መቅሠፍቱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns. They have exhausted themselves, and profit nothing. You will be ashamed of your fruits, because of Yahweh’s fierce anger.”
12:14
כֹּ֣ה׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה עַל־כׇּל־שְׁכֵנַי֙ הָֽרָעִ֔ים הַנֹּֽגְעִים֙ בַּֽנַּחֲלָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־הִנְחַ֥לְתִּי אֶת־עַמִּ֖י אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הִנְנִ֤י נֹֽתְשָׁם֙ מֵעַ֣ל אַדְמָתָ֔ם וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהוּדָ֖ה אֶתּ֥וֹשׁ מִתּוֹכָֽם׃
ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος περὶ πάντων τῶν γειτόνων τῶν πονηρῶν τῶν ἁπτομένων τῆς κληρονομίας μου ἧς ἐμέρισα τῷ λαῷ μου Ισραηλ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποσπῶ αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς αὐτῶν καὶ τὸν Ιουδαν ἐκβαλῶ ἐκ μέσου αὐτῶν
Haec dicit Dominus adversum omnes vicinos meos pessimos, qui tangunt haereditatem quam distribui populo meo Israël : Ecce ego evellam eos de terra sua, et domum Juda evellam de medio eorum.
እስመ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በእንተ፡ ኵሉ፡ እኩይ፡ እለ፡ ይገስሱ፡ ርስትየ፡ ዘከፈልክዎ፡ ለሕዝብየ፡ እስራኤል፡ ናሁ፡ አነ፡ እመልሖሙ፡ እምነ፡ ምድሮሙ፡ ወአመጽኦሙ፡ ለቤተ፡ ይሁዳ፡ እምነ፡ ማእከሎሙ።
Yahweh says, “Concerning all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.
12:15
וְהָיָ֗ה אַֽחֲרֵי֙ נׇתְשִׁ֣י אוֹתָ֔ם אָשׁ֖וּב וְרִחַמְתִּ֑ים וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֛ים אִ֥ישׁ לְנַחֲלָת֖וֹ וְאִ֥ישׁ לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἔσται μετὰ τὸ ἐκβαλεῖν με αὐτοὺς ἐπιστρέψω καὶ ἐλεήσω αὐτοὺς καὶ κατοικιῶ αὐτοὺς ἕκαστον εἰς τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἕκαστον εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ
Et cum evulsero eos, convertar, et miserebor eorum, et reducam eos : virum ad haereditatem suam, et virum in terram suam.
ወእምድኅረ፡ አውፃእክዎ፡ እትመየጦሙ፡ ወእሠሃሎሙ፡ ወአነብሮሙ፡ ለኵሎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ርስቶሙ፡ ወለለአሐዱ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድሮሙ።
It will happen that after I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them. I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
12:16
וְהָיָ֡ה אִם־לָמֹ֣ד יִלְמְדוּ֩ אֶת־דַּֽרְכֵ֨י עַמִּ֜י לְהִשָּׁבֵ֤עַ בִּשְׁמִי֙ חַי־יְהֹוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר לִמְּדוּ֙ אֶת־עַמִּ֔י לְהִשָּׁבֵ֖עַ בַּבָּ֑עַל וְנִבְנ֖וּ בְּת֥וֹךְ עַמִּֽי׃
καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν μαθόντες μάθωσιν τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ λαοῦ μου τοῦ ὀμνύειν τῷ ὀνόματί μου ζῇ κύριος καθὼς ἐδίδαξαν τὸν λαόν μου ὀμνύειν τῇ Βααλ καὶ οἰκοδομηθήσονται ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ μου
Et erit : si eruditi didicerint vias populi mei, ut jurent in nomine meo : Vivit Dominus ! sicut docuerunt populum meum jurare in Baal, aedificabuntur in medio populi mei.
ወእምዝ፡ ለእመ፡ ተምህሮ፡ ተምህሩ፡ ፍኖትየ፡ ሕዝብየ፡ ከመ፡ ይምሐሉ፡ በስምየ፡ ሕያው፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመመሐርዎሙ፡ ለሕዝብየ፡ መሓላ፡ በበዓል፡ ይትሐነጹ፡ በማእከለ፡ ሕዝብየ።
It will happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, ‘As Yahweh lives;’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they will be built up in the middle of my people.
12:17
וְאִ֖ם לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ וְנָ֨תַשְׁתִּ֜י אֶת־הַגּ֥וֹי הַה֛וּא נָת֥וֹשׁ וְאַבֵּ֖ד נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃ {ס}
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἐπιστρέψωσιν καὶ ἐξαρῶ τὸ ἔθνος ἐκεῖνο ἐξάρσει καὶ ἀπωλείᾳ
Quod si non audierint, evellam gentem illam evulsione et perditione, ait Dominus.
ወእመሰ፡ ኢተመይጡ፡ እሥሮሙ፡ ለእሙንቱ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወዐተቶሙ፡ ወአጠፍኦሙ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it,” says Yahweh.
