9:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַל ־תִּשְׂמַ֨ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל ׀אֶל ־גִּיל֙ כָּעַמִּ֔ים כִּ֥י זָנִ֖יתָ מֵעַ֣ל אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ אָהַ֣בְתָּ אֶתְנָ֔ן עַ֖ל כׇּל ־גׇּרְנ֥וֹת דָּגָֽן ׃
μὴ χαῖρε Ισραηλ μηδὲ εὐφραίνου καθὼς οἱ λαοί διότι ἐπόρνευσας ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ σου ἠγάπησας δόματα ἐπὶ πάντα ἅλωνα σίτου
Noli laetari , Israël ; noli exsultare sicut populi : quia fornicatus es a Deo tuo ; dilexisti mercedem super omnes areas tritici .
ኢትትፌሣሕ ፡ ወኢትትሐሠይ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እስመ ፡ ዘመውከ ፡ እምአምላክከ ፡ ወአፍቀርከ ፡ ሀብተ ፡ ዘእምኵሉ ፡ ዐውደ ፡ እክል ፡ ወምክያደ ፡ ወይን ።
Don’t rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.
9:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ גֹּ֥רֶן וָיֶ֖קֶב לֹ֣א יִרְעֵ֑ם וְתִיר֖וֹשׁ יְכַ֥חֶשׁ בָּֽהּ ׃
ἅλων καὶ ληνὸς οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτούς καὶ ὁ οἶνος ἐψεύσατο αὐτούς
Area et torcular non pascet eos , et vinum mentietur eis :
ወበእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ እክልኒ ፡ ኢያእመሮሙ ፡ ወወይንኒ ፡ ሐሰዎሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ነበሩ ፡ ምድረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
The threshing floor and the wine press won’t feed them, and the new wine will fail her.
9:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ לֹ֥א יֵשְׁב֖וּ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהֹוָ֑ה וְשָׁ֤ב אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ מִצְרַ֔יִם וּבְאַשּׁ֖וּר טָמֵ֥א יֹאכֵֽלוּ ׃
οὐ κατῴκησαν ἐν τῇ γῇ τοῦ κυρίου κατῴκησεν Εφραιμ εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἐν Ἀσσυρίοις ἀκάθαρτα φάγονται
non habitabunt in terra Domini . Reversus est Ephraim in Aegyptum , et in Assyriis pollutum comedit .
ወነበረ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ግብጸ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይበልዕ ፡ ኵስሐ ፡ በፋርስ ።
They won’t dwell in Yahweh’s land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria.
9:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ לֹא ־יִסְּכ֨וּ לַיהֹוָ֥ה ׀יַ֘יִן֮ וְלֹ֣א יֶעֶרְבוּ ־לוֹ֒ זִבְחֵיהֶ֗ם כְּלֶ֤חֶם אוֹנִים֙ לָהֶ֔ם כׇּל ־אֹכְלָ֖יו יִטַּמָּ֑אוּ כִּֽי ־לַחְמָ֣ם לְנַפְשָׁ֔ם לֹ֥א יָב֖וֹא בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָֽה ׃
οὐκ ἔσπεισαν τῷ κυρίῳ οἶνον καὶ οὐχ ἥδυναν αὐτῷ αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν ὡς ἄρτος πένθους αὐτοῖς πάντες οἱ ἔσθοντες αὐτὰ μιανθήσονται διότι οἱ ἄρτοι αὐτῶν ταῖς ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν οὐκ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὸν οἶκον κυρίου
Non libabunt Domino vinum , et non placebunt ei . Sacrificia eorum quasi panis lugentium ; omnes qui comedent eum , contaminabuntur : quia panis eorum animae ipsorum : non intrabit in domum Domini .
ወኢያወፅሑ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይነ ፡ ወጼተሎ ፡ ወኢያሠነዩ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ኅብስቶሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ ልሔሞሙ ፡ ወኲሉ ፡ ዘበልዖ ፡ ይረኵስ ፡ ለነፍሶሙ ፡ ወኢይበውእ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
They won’t pour out wine offerings to Yahweh, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not come into Yahweh’s house.
9:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ מַֽה ־תַּעֲשׂ֖וּ לְי֣וֹם מוֹעֵ֑ד וּלְי֖וֹם חַג ־יְהֹוָֽה ׃
τί ποιήσετε ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πανηγύρεως καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς τοῦ κυρίου
Quid facietis in die solemni , in die festivitatis Domini ?
ምንተ ፡ ይገብሩ ፡ በዕለተ ፡ ሕጎሙ ፡ ወእመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ በዓለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of Yahweh?
9:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּֽי ־הִנֵּ֤ה הָֽלְכוּ֙ מִשֹּׁ֔ד מִצְרַ֥יִם תְּקַבְּצֵ֖ם מֹ֣ף תְּקַבְּרֵ֑ם מַחְמַ֣ד לְכַסְפָּ֗ם קִמּוֹשׂ֙ יִֽירָשֵׁ֔ם ח֖וֹחַ בְּאׇהֳלֵיהֶֽם ׃
διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ πορεύσονται ἐκ ταλαιπωρίας Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐκδέξεται αὐτοὺς Μέμφις καὶ θάψει αὐτοὺς Μαχμας τὸ ἀργύριον αὐτῶν ὄλεθρος κληρονομήσει ἄκανθαι ἐν τοῖς σκηνώμασιν αὐτῶν
Ecce enim profecti sunt a vastitate : Aegyptus congregabit eos ; Memphis sepeliet eos : desiderabile argentum eorum urtica haereditabit , lappa in tabernaculis eorum .
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ናሁ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኀሳሮሙ ፡ ዘግብጽ ፡ ወይትሜጠውዎሙ ፡ ሜምፎስ ፡ ወይቀብርዎሙ ፡ በምክማስ ፡ ወርቆሙኒ ፡ በድበደ ፡ ወይወርሶ ፡ ሦክ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አብያቲሆሙ ።
For, behold, when they flee destruction, Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.
9:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ בָּ֣אוּ ׀ יְמֵ֣י הַפְּקֻדָּ֗ה בָּ֚אוּ יְמֵ֣י הַשִּׁלֻּ֔ם יֵדְע֖וּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֱוִ֣יל הַנָּבִ֗יא מְשֻׁגָּע֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָר֔וּחַ עַ֚ל רֹ֣ב עֲוֺנְךָ֔ וְרַבָּ֖ה מַשְׂטֵמָֽה ׃
ἥκασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τῆς ἐκδικήσεως ἥκασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τῆς ἀνταποδόσεώς σου καὶ κακωθήσεται Ισραηλ ὥσπερ ὁ προφήτης ὁ παρεξεστηκώς ἄνθρωπος ὁ πνευματοφόρος ὑπὸ τοῦ πλήθους τῶν ἀδικιῶν σου ἐπληθύνθη μανία σου
Venerunt dies visitationis , venerunt dies retributionis . Scitote , Israël , stultum prophetam , insanum virum spiritualem , propter multitudinem iniquitatis tuae , et multitudinem amentiae .
በጽሐ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ በቀል ፡ ወፍዳ ፡ ወይደዊ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ምስለ ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ዘይለብስ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ ጋኔን ፡ በብዝኀ ፡ ጌጋይከ ፡ አብዛኅከ ፡ ቊጣዐከ ።
The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.
9:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ צֹפֶ֥ה אֶפְרַ֖יִם עִם ־אֱלֹהָ֑י נָבִ֞יא פַּ֤ח יָקוֹשׁ֙ עַל ־כׇּל ־דְּרָכָ֔יו מַשְׂטֵמָ֖ה בְּבֵ֥ית אֱלֹהָֽיו ׃
σκοπὸς Εφραιμ μετὰ θεοῦ προφήτης παγὶς σκολιὰ ἐπὶ πάσας τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ μανίαν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου κατέπηξαν
Speculator Ephraim cum Deo meo , propheta laqueus ruinae factus est super omnes vias ejus ; insania in domo Dei ejus .
ኤፍሬም ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ ምስለ ፡ ነቢየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወመሥገርት ፡ እኪት ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ፍናዊሁ ፡ ወርኵሶሙ ፡ አንበሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.
9:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֶעְמִ֥יקוּ שִׁחֵ֖תוּ כִּימֵ֣י הַגִּבְעָ֑ה יִזְכּ֣וֹר עֲוֺנָ֔ם יִפְק֖וֹד חַטֹּאותָֽם ׃ {ס}
ἐφθάρησαν κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας τοῦ βουνοῦ μνησθήσεται ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ ἐκδικήσει ἁμαρτίας αὐτοῦ
Profunde peccaverunt , sicut in diebus Gabaa . Recordabitur iniquitatis eorum , et visitabit peccata eorum .
— They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.
9:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ כַּעֲנָבִ֣ים בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר מָצָ֙אתִי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּבִכּוּרָ֤הֿ בִתְאֵנָה֙ בְּרֵ֣אשִׁיתָ֔הּ רָאִ֖יתִי אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֑ם הֵ֜מָּה בָּ֣אוּ בַֽעַל ־פְּע֗וֹר וַיִּנָּֽזְרוּ֙ לַבֹּ֔שֶׁת וַיִּהְי֥וּ שִׁקּוּצִ֖ים כְּאׇהֳבָֽם ׃
ὡς σταφυλὴν ἐν ἐρήμῳ εὗρον τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ὡς σκοπὸν ἐν συκῇ πρόιμον εἶδον πατέρας αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ εἰσῆλθον πρὸς τὸν Βεελφεγωρ καὶ ἀπηλλοτριώθησαν εἰς αἰσχύνην καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ ἠγαπημένοι ὡς οἱ ἐβδελυγμένοι
Quasi uvas in deserto inveni Israël , quasi prima poma ficulneae in cacumine ejus vidi patres eorum : ipsi autem intraverunt ad Beelphegor , et abalienati sunt in confusionem , et facti sunt abominabiles sicut ea quae dilexerunt .
ወኀስሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አመ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ በዐሊም ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ይዜክር ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ኃጢከያቶሙ ፡ ወይትቤቀሎሙ ፡ በጌጋዩሙ ።
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.
9:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֶפְרַ֕יִם כָּע֖וֹף יִתְעוֹפֵ֣ף כְּבוֹדָ֑ם מִלֵּדָ֥ה וּמִבֶּ֖טֶן וּמֵהֵרָיֽוֹן ׃
Εφραιμ ὡς ὄρνεον ἐξεπετάσθη αἱ δόξαι αὐτῶν ἐκ τόκων καὶ ὠδίνων καὶ συλλήμψεων
Ephraim quasi avis avolavit ; gloria eorum a partu , et ab utero , et a conceptu .
ከመ ፡ አስካል ፡ በገዳም ፡ ረከብክዎ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወከመ ፡ በኲረ ፡ በለስ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ክረምተ ፡ ርኢክዎሙ ፡ ለአበዊሆሙ ።ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ ቦኡ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ብዓል ፡ ፌጎር ፡ ወተናከሩ ፡ ለኃሣሮሙ ፡ ወኮኑ ፡ ሰቀፐራረ ፡ ፍቁራን ።
As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no one with child, and no conception.
9:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י אִם ־יְגַדְּלוּ֙ אֶת ־בְּנֵיהֶ֔ם וְשִׁכַּלְתִּ֖ים מֵאָדָ֑ם כִּֽי ־גַם ־א֥וֹי לָהֶ֖ם בְּשׂוּרִ֥י מֵהֶֽם ׃
διότι καὶ ἐὰν ἐκθρέψωσιν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἀτεκνωθήσονται ἐξ ἀνθρώπων διότι καὶ οὐαὶ αὐτοῖς ἐστιν σάρξ μου ἐξ αὐτῶν
Quod etsi enutrierint filios suos , absque liberis eos faciam in hominibus ; sed et vae eis cum recessero ab eis !
ኤፍሬም ፡ ክም ፡ ዖፍ ፡ ሰረረ ። ክብሮሙ ፡ እምፀኒስ ፡ ወእምወሊድ ፡ ወማህምም ።
Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!
9:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֶפְרַ֛יִם כַּאֲשֶׁר ־רָאִ֥יתִי לְצ֖וֹר שְׁתוּלָ֣ה בְנָוֶ֑ה וְאֶפְרַ֕יִם לְהוֹצִ֥יא אֶל ־הֹרֵ֖ג בָּנָֽיו ׃
Εφραιμ ὃν τρόπον εἶδον εἰς θήραν παρέστησαν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν καὶ Εφραιμ τοῦ ἐξαγαγεῖν εἰς ἀποκέντησιν τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ
Ephraim , ut vidi , Tyrus erat fundata in pulchritudine ; et Ephraim educet ad interfectorem filios suos .
ወእመኒ ፡ አልሀቁ ፡ ውሎዶሙ ፡ ያጠፍኦሙ ፡ እምሰብእ ፡ ወዓዲ ፡ አሌሎሙ ፡ ስጋየ ፡ ወእቱ ፡ ዘእምውስቴቶሙ ።
I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.
9:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ תֵּן ־לָהֶ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה מַה ־תִּתֵּ֑ן תֵּן ־לָהֶם֙ רֶ֣חֶם מַשְׁכִּ֔יל וְשָׁדַ֖יִם צֹמְקִֽים ׃
δὸς αὐτοῖς κύριε τί δώσεις αὐτοῖς δὸς αὐτοῖς μήτραν ἀτεκνοῦσαν καὶ μαστοὺς ξηρούς
Da eis , Domine . Quid dabis eis ? da eis vulvam sine liberis , et ubera arentia .
ኤፍሬም ፡ በከመ ፡ ርኢኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መስገርተ ፡ መዕገት ፡ አስተጋብኤ ፡ ውሉዶሙ ፡ ወኤፍሬምኒ ፡ አውፅአደቂቆ ፡ ይርገዞሙ ።
Give them—Yahweh what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
9:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ כׇּל ־רָעָתָ֤ם בַּגִּלְגָּל֙ כִּי ־שָׁ֣ם שְׂנֵאתִ֔ים עַ֚ל רֹ֣עַ מַעַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם מִבֵּיתִ֖י אֲגָרְשֵׁ֑ם לֹ֤א אוֹסֵף֙ אַהֲבָתָ֔ם כׇּל ־שָׂרֵיהֶ֖ם סֹרְרִֽים ׃
πᾶσαι αἱ κακίαι αὐτῶν εἰς Γαλγαλ ὅτι ἐκεῖ αὐτοὺς ἐμίσησα διὰ τὰς κακίας τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου μου ἐκβαλῶ αὐτούς οὐ μὴ προσθήσω τοῦ ἀγαπῆσαι αὐτούς πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶν ἀπειθοῦντες
Omnes nequitiae eorum in Galgal , quia ibi exosos habui eos . Propter malitiam adinventionum eorum , de domo mea ejiciam eos ; non addam ut diligam eos : omnes principes eorum recedentes .
ሀቦሙ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ትሁቦሙ ፡ ሀቦሙ ፤ማህፀነ ፡ መካነ ፡ ወአጥባተ ፡ ይቡሳተ ።
“All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.
9:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֻכָּ֣ה אֶפְרַ֔יִם שׇׁרְשָׁ֥ם יָבֵ֖שׁ פְּרִ֣י (בלי ) [בַֽל ־]יַעֲשׂ֑וּן גַּ֚ם כִּ֣י יֵלֵד֔וּן וְהֵמַתִּ֖י מַחֲמַדֵּ֥י בִטְנָֽם ׃
ἐπόνεσεν Εφραιμ τὰς ῥίζας αὐτοῦ ἐξηράνθη καρπὸν οὐκέτι μὴ ἐνέγκῃ διότι καὶ ἐὰν γεννήσωσιν ἀποκτενῶ τὰ ἐπιθυμήματα κοιλίας αὐτῶν
Percussus est Ephraim ; radix eorum exsiccata est : fructum nequaquam facient , quod etsi genuerint , interficiam amantissima uteri eorum .
ኲሉ ፡ እከዩመ ፡ በገልገላ ፡ እስመ ፡ በህየ ፡ ጸላእክዎሙ ፡ በእንተ ፡ እከየ ፡ ምጋባሮ ። እሰድዶሙ ፡ እምአብያቲሆሙ ፡ ወኢይደግም ፡ እንከ ፡ አፍቅሮቱሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኲሎሙ ፡ መላእክቲሆሙ ፡ ዓላውያ ።
Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.”
9:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ יִמְאָסֵ֣ם אֱלֹהַ֔י כִּ֛י לֹ֥א שָׁמְע֖וּ ל֑וֹ וְיִֽהְי֥וּ נֹדְדִ֖ים בַּגּוֹיִֽם ׃ {ס}
ἀπώσεται αὐτοὺς ὁ θεός ὅτι οὐκ εἰσήκουσαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσονται πλανῆται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν
Abjiciet eos Deus meus , quia non audierunt eum , et erunt vagi in nationibus .
ደወይ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ወየብሰ ፡ ስረዊሁ ፡ ወኢይፈሪ ፡ እከ ፡ ወአመኒ ፡ ወለዱ ፡ እቀትል ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ደርሦሙ ፡ መፍትወ ።
My God will cast them away, because they didn’t listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
9:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — — ገደፎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እስመ ፡ አበቱ ፡ ሰሚዖቶ ፡ ወይከውኒ ፡ መታሕላነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አህዛብ ።
My God will cast them away, because they didn’t listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
