13:1
וַיַּ֩עַל֩ אַבְרָ֨ם מִמִּצְרַ֜יִם ה֠וּא וְאִשְׁתּ֧וֹ וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֛וֹ וְל֥וֹט עִמּ֖וֹ הַנֶּֽגְבָּה׃
ἀνέβη δὲ Αβραμ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ Λωτ μετ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον
Ascendit ergo Abram de Aegypto, ipse et uxor ejus, et omnia quae habebat, et Lot cum eo, ad australem plagam.
[ወዐርገ ፡ አብራም ፡ እምግብጽ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወብእሲቱ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ንዋዩ ፡ ወሎጥሂ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አዜብ ።]2 ወአብራምሰ ፡ ብፁዕ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወባዕል ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ እምእንስሳ ፡ ወእምወርቅ ፡ ወእምብሩር ።
Abram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South.
13:2
וְאַבְרָ֖ם כָּבֵ֣ד מְאֹ֑ד בַּמִּקְנֶ֕ה בַּכֶּ֖סֶף וּבַזָּהָֽב׃
Αβραμ δὲ ἦν πλούσιος σφόδρα κτήνεσιν καὶ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ χρυσίῳ
Erat autem dives valde in possessione auri et argenti.
ወገብአ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ወፅአ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሐቅል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ ውስተ ፡ መካን ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ቀዲሙ ፡ ዐጸዱ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ሕጌ ።
Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
13:3
וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְמַסָּעָ֔יו מִנֶּ֖גֶב וְעַד־בֵּֽית־אֵ֑ל עַד־הַמָּק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁר־הָ֨יָה שָׁ֤ם אׇֽהֳלֹה֙ בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה בֵּ֥ין בֵּֽית־אֵ֖ל וּבֵ֥ין הָעָֽי׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὅθεν ἦλθεν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ἕως Βαιθηλ ἕως τοῦ τόπου οὗ ἦν ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτοῦ τὸ πρότερον ἀνὰ μέσον Βαιθηλ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Αγγαι
Reversusque est per iter, quo venerat, a meridie in Bethel, usque ad locum ubi prius fixerat tabernaculum inter Bethel et Hai,
ውስተ ፡ መካን ፡ ኀበ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ምሥዋዐ ፡ ህየ ፡ ቀዲሙ ፡ ወጸውዐ ፡ አብራም ፡ ስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በህየ ።
He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
13:4
אֶל־מְקוֹם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שָׂה שָׁ֖ם בָּרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֥א שָׁ֛ם אַבְרָ֖ם בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָֽה׃
εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου οὗ ἐποίησεν ἐκεῖ τὴν ἀρχήν καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο ἐκεῖ Αβραμ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου
in loco altaris quod fecerat prius : et invocavit ibi nomen Domini.
ወሎጥኒ ፡ ዘሖረ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ለአብራም ፡ አጥረየ ፡ አባግዐ ፡ ወአልህምተ ፡ ወእንስሳ ።
to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.
13:5
וְגַ֨ם־לְל֔וֹט הַהֹלֵ֖ךְ אֶת־אַבְרָ֑ם הָיָ֥ה צֹאן־וּבָקָ֖ר וְאֹהָלִֽים׃
καὶ Λωτ τῷ συμπορευομένῳ μετὰ Αβραμ ἦν πρόβατα καὶ βόες καὶ σκηναί
Sed et Lot qui erat cum Abram, fuerunt greges ovium, et armenta, et tabernacula.
ወኢአከሎሙ ፡ ምድር ፡ ከመ ፡ ይኅድሩ ፡ ኅቡረ ።
Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.
13:6
וְלֹא־נָשָׂ֥א אֹתָ֛ם הָאָ֖רֶץ לָשֶׁ֣בֶת יַחְדָּ֑ו כִּֽי־הָיָ֤ה רְכוּשָׁם֙ רָ֔ב וְלֹ֥א יָֽכְל֖וּ לָשֶׁ֥בֶת יַחְדָּֽו׃
καὶ οὐκ ἐχώρει αὐτοὺς ἡ γῆ κατοικεῖν ἅμα ὅτι ἦν τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν πολλά καὶ οὐκ ἐδύναντο κατοικεῖν ἅμα
Nec poterat eos capere terra, ut habitarent simul : erat quippe substantia eorum multa, et nequibant habitare communiter.
ወኮነ ፡ ጋእዝ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ኖሎት ፡ ዘሎጥ ፡ ወዘአብራም ፡ ወሀለው ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወፌርዜዎን ፡ ኅዱራን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ።
The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together.
13:7
וַֽיְהִי־רִ֗יב בֵּ֚ין רֹעֵ֣י מִקְנֵֽה־אַבְרָ֔ם וּבֵ֖ין רֹעֵ֣י מִקְנֵה־ל֑וֹט וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י אָ֖ז יֹשֵׁ֥ב בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο μάχη ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων τῶν κτηνῶν τοῦ Αβραμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων τῶν κτηνῶν τοῦ Λωτ οἱ δὲ Χαναναῖοι καὶ οἱ Φερεζαῖοι τότε κατῴκουν τὴν γῆν
Unde et facta est rixa inter pastores gregum Abram et Lot. Eo autem tempore Chananaeus et Pherezaeus habitabant in terra illa.
ወይቤሎ ፡ አብራም ፡ ለሎጥ ፡ ኢይኩን ፡ ጋእዝ ፡ ማእከሌከ ፡ ወማእከሌየ ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ኖሎትከ ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ኖሎትየ ፡ እስመ ፡ አኀው ፡ ንሕነ ።
There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.
13:8
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אַבְרָ֜ם אֶל־ל֗וֹט אַל־נָ֨א תְהִ֤י מְרִיבָה֙ בֵּינִ֣י וּבֵינֶ֔ךָ וּבֵ֥ין רֹעַ֖י וּבֵ֣ין רֹעֶ֑יךָ כִּֽי־אֲנָשִׁ֥ים אַחִ֖ים אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃
εἶπεν δὲ Αβραμ τῷ Λωτ μὴ ἔστω μάχη ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων μου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων σου ὅτι ἄνθρωποι ἀδελφοὶ ἡμεῖς ἐσμεν
Dixit ergo Abram ad Lot : Ne quaeso sit jurgium inter me et te, et inter pastores meos et pastores tuos : fratres enim sumus.
ወናሁ ፡ ኵላ ፡ ምድር ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ተሌለይ ፡ እምኔየ ፡ እማእኮ ፡ የማነ ፡ አንተ ፡ ወአነ ፡ ፀጋመ ፡ ወእማእከ ፡ አንተ ፡ ፀጋመ ፡ ወአነ ፡ የማነ ።
Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.
13:9
הֲלֹ֤א כׇל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ הִפָּ֥רֶד נָ֖א מֵעָלָ֑י אִם־הַשְּׂמֹ֣אל וְאֵימִ֔נָה וְאִם־הַיָּמִ֖ין וְאַשְׂמְאִֽילָה׃
οὐκ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ἐναντίον σού ἐστιν διαχωρίσθητι ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ εἰ σὺ εἰς ἀριστερά ἐγὼ εἰς δεξιά εἰ δὲ σὺ εἰς δεξιά ἐγὼ εἰς ἀριστερά
Ecce universa terra coram te est : recede a me, obsecro : si ad sinistram ieris, ego dexteram tenebo : si tu dexteram elegeris, ego ad sinistram pergam.
ወአልዐለ ፡ ሎጥ ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ ወርእየ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አሕቃላቲሁ ፡ ለዮርዳንስ ፡ ርውይ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ይገፍትዖን ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሶዶም ፡ ወለጎሞራ ፡ ከመ ፡ ገነተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”
13:10
וַיִּשָּׂא־ל֣וֹט אֶת־עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־כׇּל־כִּכַּ֣ר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן כִּ֥י כֻלָּ֖הּ מַשְׁקֶ֑ה לִפְנֵ֣י׀ שַׁחֵ֣ת יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶת־סְדֹם֙ וְאֶת־עֲמֹרָ֔ה כְּגַן־יְהֹוָה֙ כְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בֹּאֲכָ֖ה צֹֽעַר׃
καὶ ἐπάρας Λωτ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἶδεν πᾶσαν τὴν περίχωρον τοῦ Ιορδάνου ὅτι πᾶσα ἦν ποτιζομένη πρὸ τοῦ καταστρέψαι τὸν θεὸν Σοδομα καὶ Γομορρα ὡς ὁ παράδεισος τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὡς ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Ζογορα
Elevatis itaque Lot oculis, vidit omnem circa regionem Jordanis, quae universa irrigabatur antequam subverteret Dominus Sodomam et Gomorrham, sicut paradisus Domini, et sicut Aegyptus venientibus in Segor.
ወኀርየ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሎጥ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አሕቃላተ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ፡ ወግዕዘ ፡ ሎጥ ፡ እመንገለ ፡ ሠርቅ ፡ ወተሌለዩ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ካልኡ ።
Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.
13:11
וַיִּבְחַר־ל֣וֹ ל֗וֹט אֵ֚ת כׇּל־כִּכַּ֣ר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיִּסַּ֥ע ל֖וֹט מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַיִּפָּ֣רְד֔וּ אִ֖ישׁ מֵעַ֥ל אָחִֽיו׃
καὶ ἐξελέξατο ἑαυτῷ Λωτ πᾶσαν τὴν περίχωρον τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἀπῆρεν Λωτ ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ διεχωρίσθησαν ἕκαστος ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ
Elegitque sibi Lot regionem circa Jordanem, et recessit ab oriente : divisique sunt alterutrum a fratre suo.
አብራም ፡ ኀደረ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወሎጥ ፡ ኀደረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አድያም ፡ ወኀደረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሶዶም ።
So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.
13:12
אַבְרָ֖ם יָשַׁ֣ב בְּאֶֽרֶץ־כְּנָ֑עַן וְל֗וֹט יָשַׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י הַכִּכָּ֔ר וַיֶּאֱהַ֖ל עַד־סְדֹֽם׃
Αβραμ δὲ κατῴκησεν ἐν γῇ Χανααν Λωτ δὲ κατῴκησεν ἐν πόλει τῶν περιχώρων καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν Σοδομοις
Abram habitavit in terra Chanaan ; Lot vero moratus est in oppidis, quae erant circa Jordanem, et habitavit in Sodomis.
ወሰብአ ፡ ሶዶምሰ ፡ እኩያን ፡ ወኃጥኣን ፡ ጥቀ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
13:13
וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י סְדֹ֔ם רָעִ֖ים וְחַטָּאִ֑ים לַיהֹוָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃
οἱ δὲ ἄνθρωποι οἱ ἐν Σοδομοις πονηροὶ καὶ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ σφόδρα
Homines autem Sodomitae pessimi erant, et peccatores coram Domino nimis.
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለአብራም ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ተሌለየ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ሎጥ ፡ ነጽር ፡ በአዕይንቲከ ፡ ወርኢ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መካን ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀለውከ ፡ ለመንገለ ፡ መስዕ ፡ ወአዜብ ፡ ወሠርቅ ፡ ወባሕር ።
Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.
13:14
וַֽיהֹוָ֞ה אָמַ֣ר אֶל־אַבְרָ֗ם אַחֲרֵי֙ הִפָּֽרֶד־ל֣וֹט מֵֽעִמּ֔וֹ שָׂ֣א נָ֤א עֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מִן־הַמָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֣ה שָׁ֑ם צָפֹ֥נָה וָנֶ֖גְבָּה וָקֵ֥דְמָה וָיָֽמָּה׃
ὁ δὲ θεὸς εἶπεν τῷ Αβραμ μετὰ τὸ διαχωρισθῆναι τὸν Λωτ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου ἰδὲ ἀπὸ τοῦ τόπου οὗ νῦν σὺ εἶ πρὸς βορρᾶν καὶ λίβα καὶ ἀνατολὰς καὶ θάλασσαν
Dixitque Dominus ad Abram, postquam divisus est ab eo Lot : Leva oculos tuos et vide a loco, in quo nunc es, ad aquilonem et meridiem, ad orientem et occidentem.
እስመ ፡ ኵለንታሃ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ትሬኢ ፡ ለከ ፡ እሁባ ፡ ወለዘርእከ ፡ እስከ ፡ ለዓለም ።
Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
13:15
כִּ֧י אֶת־כׇּל־הָאָ֛רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה רֹאֶ֖ה לְךָ֣ אֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה וּֽלְזַרְעֲךָ֖ עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃
ὅτι πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἣν σὺ ὁρᾷς σοὶ δώσω αὐτὴν καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος
Omnem terram, quam conspicis, tibi dabo, et semini tuo usque in sempiternum.
[ወእሬስዮ ፡ ለዘርእከ ፡] ከመ ፡ ኆጻ ፡ ባሕር ፡ እመቦ ፡ ዘይክል ፡ ኈልቆ ፡ ለኆጻ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ይኄልቆ ፡ ለዘእከሂ ።
for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.
13:16
וְשַׂמְתִּ֥י אֶֽת־זַרְעֲךָ֖ כַּעֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֑רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ אִם־יוּכַ֣ל אִ֗ישׁ לִמְנוֹת֙ אֶת־עֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ גַּֽם־זַרְעֲךָ֖ יִמָּנֶֽה׃
καὶ ποιήσω τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τὴν ἄμμον τῆς γῆς εἰ δύναταί τις ἐξαριθμῆσαι τὴν ἄμμον τῆς γῆς καὶ τὸ σπέρμα σου ἐξαριθμηθήσεται
Faciamque semen tuum sicut pulverem terrae : si quis potest hominum numerare pulverem terrae, semen quoque tuum numerare poterit.
ዕርግ ፡ ወዑዳ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኑኀ ፡ ወርሕባ ፡ እስመ ፡ ለከ ፡ እሁባ ።
I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.
13:17
ק֚וּם הִתְהַלֵּ֣ךְ בָּאָ֔רֶץ לְאׇרְכָּ֖הּ וּלְרׇחְבָּ֑הּ כִּ֥י לְךָ֖ אֶתְּנֶֽנָּה׃
ἀναστὰς διόδευσον τὴν γῆν εἴς τε τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ εἰς τὸ πλάτος ὅτι σοὶ δώσω αὐτήν
Surge, et perambula terram in longitudine et in latitudine sua : quia tibi daturus sum eam.
ወግዕዘ ፡ አብራም ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኬብሮን ፡ ወነደቀ ፡ በህየ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”
13:18
וַיֶּאֱהַ֣ל אַבְרָ֗ם וַיָּבֹ֛א וַיֵּ֛שֶׁב בְּאֵלֹנֵ֥י מַמְרֵ֖א אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּחֶבְר֑וֹן וַיִּֽבֶן־שָׁ֥ם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַֽיהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀποσκηνώσας Αβραμ ἐλθὼν κατῴκησεν παρὰ τὴν δρῦν τὴν Μαμβρη ἣ ἦν ἐν Χεβρων καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ
Movens igitur tabernaculum suum Abram, venit, et habitavit juxta convallem Mambre, quae est in Hebron : aedificavitque ibi altare Domino.
—
Abram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to Yahweh.
