7:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה וְהִנֵּה֙ יוֹצֵ֣ר גֹּבַ֔י בִּתְחִלַּ֖ת עֲל֣וֹת הַלָּ֑קֶשׁ וְהִ֨נֵּה ־לֶ֔קֶשׁ אַחַ֖ר גִּזֵּ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
οὕτως ἔδειξέν μοι κύριος καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπιγονὴ ἀκρίδων ἐρχομένη ἑωθινή καὶ ἰδοὺ βροῦχος εἷς Γωγ ὁ βασιλεύς
Haec ostendit mihi Dominus Deus : et ecce fictor locustae in principio germinantium serotini imbris , et ecce serotinus post tonsionem regis .
ከመዝ ፡ አርአየኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ይመጽእ ፡ አንበጣ ፡ በጽባኅ ፡ ወ
Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and behold, it was the latter growth after the king’s harvest.
7:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָיָ֗ה אִם ־כִּלָּה֙ לֶֽאֱכוֹל֙ אֶת ־עֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָ֔רֶץ וָֽאֹמַ֗ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ סְֽלַֽח ־נָ֔א מִ֥י יָק֖וּם יַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן הֽוּא ׃
καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν συντελέσῃ τοῦ καταφαγεῖν τὸν χόρτον τῆς γῆς καὶ εἶπα κύριε κύριε ἵλεως γενοῦ τίς ἀναστήσει τὸν Ιακωβ ὅτι ὀλιγοστός ἐστιν
Et factum est , cum consummasset comedere herbam terrae , dixi : Domine Deus , propitius esto , obsecro ; quis suscitabit Jacob , quia parvulus est ?
ወይበልዕ ፡ ኲሎ ፡ ሳዕረ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወያኀልቅ ፡ ዋእቤ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እግኢኦ ፡ ተሠሃ ፡ መኑ ፡ ያነስኦ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ለእስመ ፡ ውሑድ ፡ ውእቱ ።
When they finished eating the grass of the land, then I said, “Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”
7:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ נִחַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל ־זֹ֑את לֹ֥א תִֽהְיֶ֖ה אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה ׃
μετανόησον κύριε ἐπὶ τούτῳ καὶ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔσται λέγει κύριος
Misertus est Dominus super hoc : Non erit , dixit Dominus .
ወነሰሐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በአውንተ ፡ ዝነቱ ፡ ወዘኒ ፡ ኢይመጽእ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Yahweh relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” says Yahweh.
7:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה קֹרֵ֛א לָרִ֥ב בָּאֵ֖שׁ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ אֶת ־תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֔ה וְאָכְלָ֖ה אֶת ־הַחֵֽלֶק ׃
οὕτως ἔδειξέν μοι κύριος καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐκάλεσεν τὴν δίκην ἐν πυρὶ κύριος καὶ κατέφαγε τὴν ἄβυσσον τὴν πολλὴν καὶ κατέφαγεν τὴν μερίδα
Haec ostendit mihi Dominus Deus : et ecce vocabat judicium ad ignem Dominus Deus ; et devoravit abyssum multam , et comedit simul partem .
ከመዝ ፡ አርአየኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወናሑ ፡ ጸውዓ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በቃሉ ፡ ለእሳት ፡ ዋባልዐት ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ ቅላየ ፡ ወበልዐት ፡ መክፍልቶሙ ።
Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, the Lord Yahweh called for judgment by fire; and it dried up the great deep, and would have devoured the land.
7:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ חֲדַל ־נָ֔א מִ֥י יָק֖וּם יַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן הֽוּא ׃
καὶ εἶπα κύριε κύριε κόπασον δή τίς ἀναστήσει τὸν Ιακωβ ὅτι ὀλιγοστός ἐστιν
Et dixi : Domine Deus , quiesce , obsecro ; quis suscitabit Jacob , quia parvulus est ?
ወእቤ ፡ አነ ፡ እንቢክ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ መኑ ፡ ነስኦ ፡ ሌዕቆብ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውሑድ ፡ ውእቱ ።
Then I said, “Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”
7:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ נִחַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה עַל ־זֹ֑את גַּם ־הִיא֙ לֹ֣א תִֽהְיֶ֔ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה ׃ {פ}
μετανόησον κύριε ἐπὶ τούτῳ καὶ τοῦτο οὐ μὴ γένηται λέγει κύριος
Misertus est Dominus super hoc : Sed et istud non erit , dixit Dominus Deus .
ወነሰሐ ፡ እግአብሔር ፡ በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ዘነኒ ፡ ኢይመጽእ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Yahweh relented concerning this. “This also shall not be,” says the Lord Yahweh.
7:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּ֣ה הִרְאַ֔נִי וְהִנֵּ֧ה אֲדֹנָ֛י נִצָּ֖ב עַל ־חוֹמַ֣ת אֲנָ֑ךְ וּבְיָד֖וֹ אֲנָֽךְ ׃
οὕτως ἔδειξέν μοι κύριος καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ἑστηκὼς ἐπὶ τείχους ἀδαμαντίνου καὶ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἀδάμας
Haec ostendit mihi Dominus : et ecce Dominus stans super murum litum , et in manu ejus trulla caementarii .
ከመዝ ፡ አርአየኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ ዳበ ፡ አረፍተ ፡ አብማስ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ አድማስ ።
Thus he showed me: behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand.
7:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י מָֽה ־אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ עָמ֔וֹס וָאֹמַ֖ר אֲנָ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲדֹנָ֗י הִנְנִ֨י שָׂ֤ם אֲנָךְ֙ בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹא ־אוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד עֲב֥וֹר לֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με τί σὺ ὁρᾷς Αμως καὶ εἶπα ἀδάμαντα καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐντάσσω ἀδάμαντα ἐν μέσῳ λαοῦ μου Ισραηλ οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῶ τοῦ παρελθεῖν αὐτόν
Et dixit Dominus ad me : Quid tu vides , Amos ? Et dixi : Trullam caementarii . Et dixit Dominus : Ecce ego ponam trullam in medio populi mei Israël ; non adjiciam ultra superinducere eum .
ወይቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምንተ ፡ ትሬኢ ፡ አሞጽ ፡ ወእቤ ፡ አድማስ ፡ ዌቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ናሁ ፡ አነ ፡ እኤዝዝ ፡ አድማስ ፡ መእከለ ፡ ህዝብየ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወኢይደግም ፡ እንከ ፡ አናህስዩ ፡ ሎሙ ።
Yahweh said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
7:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְנָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ בָּמ֣וֹת יִשְׂחָ֔ק וּמִקְדְּשֵׁ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל יֶחֱרָ֑בוּ וְקַמְתִּ֛י עַל ־בֵּ֥ית יָרׇבְעָ֖ם בֶּחָֽרֶב ׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀφανισθήσονται βωμοὶ τοῦ γέλωτος καὶ αἱ τελεταὶ τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐξερημωθήσονται καὶ ἀναστήσομαι ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ιεροβοαμ ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ
Et demolientur excelsa idoli , et sanctificationes Israël desolabuntur , et consurgam super domum Jeroboam in gladio .
ወይማስንን ፡ አውግረ ፡ ዘውዕ ፡ ወይጠፍኡ ፡ ኄራቶሙ ፡ ለእስራል ፡ ወእተነሳእ ፡ በኲናት ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ኢዩርብዓም ።
The high places of Isaac will be desolate, the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.”
7:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֲמַצְיָה֙ כֹּהֵ֣ן בֵּֽית ־אֵ֔ל אֶל ־יָרׇבְעָ֥ם מֶלֶךְ ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר קָשַׁ֨ר עָלֶ֜יךָ עָמ֗וֹס בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹא ־תוּכַ֣ל הָאָ֔רֶץ לְהָכִ֖יל אֶת ־כׇּל ־דְּבָרָֽיו ׃
καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Αμασιας ὁ ἱερεὺς Βαιθηλ πρὸς Ιεροβοαμ βασιλέα Ισραηλ λέγων συστροφὰς ποιεῖται κατὰ σοῦ Αμως ἐν μέσῳ οἴκου Ισραηλ οὐ μὴ δύνηται ἡ γῆ ὑπενεγκεῖν ἅπαντας τοὺς λόγους αὐτοῦ
Et misit Amasias , sacerdos Bethel , ad Jeroboam , regem Israël , dicens : Rebellavit contra te Amos in medio domus Israël ; non poterit terra sustinere universos sermones ejus .
ወለአከለአሜስያስ ፡ ካህነ ፡ ለበቴል ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኢዩርብዐሳም ፡ ንጉሰ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እንዘ ፡ ብል ፡ መዕሌተአ ፡ ይገብር ፡ ላዕሌከአ ፡ አሞጽ ፡ በማእከለ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ስራኤል ፡ ምድረኒኦ ፡ ኢትክልደ ፡ ጸዊሮቶአ ፡ ለኲሉለ ፡ ዜነብብአ ።
Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.
7:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי ־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר עָמ֔וֹס בַּחֶ֖רֶב יָמ֣וּת יָרׇבְעָ֑ם וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ ׃ {ס}
διότι τάδε λέγει Αμως ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ τελευτήσει Ιεροβοαμ ὁ δὲ Ισραηλ αἰχμάλωτος ἀχθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ
Haec enim dicit Amos : In gladio morietur Jeroboam , et Israël captivus migrabit de terra sua .
ወይብለከአ ፡ አሞጽአ ፡ ምዡሰናትአ ፡ ይመውትአ ፡ ኢዩርብዓም ፡ ወእስራኤልአ ፡ ወጼውዉአ ፡ እምበሔሮሙአ ።
For Amos says, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”
7:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲמַצְיָה֙ אֶל ־עָמ֔וֹס חֹזֶ֕ה לֵ֥ךְ בְּרַח ־לְךָ֖ אֶל ־אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וֶאֱכׇל ־שָׁ֣ם לֶ֔חֶם וְשָׁ֖ם תִּנָּבֵֽא ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Αμασιας πρὸς Αμως ὁ ὁρῶν βάδιζε ἐκχώρησον εἰς γῆν Ιουδα καὶ ἐκεῖ καταβίου καὶ ἐκεῖ προφητεύσεις
Et dixit Amasias ad Amos : Qui vides , gradere : fuge in terram Juda , et comede ibi panem , et prophetabis ibi .
ወይቤሎ ፡ አሜስያስ ፡ ለአሞጽ ፡ ሖር ፡ ፍስ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወንበር ፡ ህየ ፡ ወበሕየ ፡ ተነበይ ።
Amaziah also said to Amos, “You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there,
7:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבֵֽית ־אֵ֔ל לֹא ־תוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד לְהִנָּבֵ֑א כִּ֤י מִקְדַּשׁ ־מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ ה֔וּא וּבֵ֥ית מַמְלָכָ֖ה הֽוּא ׃
εἰς δὲ Βαιθηλ οὐκέτι μὴ προσθῇς τοῦ προφητεῦσαι ὅτι ἁγίασμα βασιλέως ἐστὶν καὶ οἶκος βασιλείας ἐστίν
Et in Bethel non adjicies ultra ut prophetes , quia sanctificatio regis est , et domus regni est .
ወኢትትነበይ ፡ እነከ ፡ በቤቴል ፡ እስመ ፡ ምሕራም ፡ ነገስት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ወቤተ ፡ መንግስት ፡ ይእቲ ።
but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”
7:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֤עַן עָמוֹס֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל ־אֲמַצְיָ֔ה לֹא ־נָבִ֣יא אָנֹ֔כִי וְלֹ֥א בֶן ־נָבִ֖יא אָנֹ֑כִי כִּי ־בוֹקֵ֥ר אָנֹ֖כִי וּבוֹלֵ֥ס שִׁקְמִֽים ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Αμως καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Αμασιαν οὐκ ἤμην προφήτης ἐγὼ οὐδὲ υἱὸς προφήτου ἀλλ’ ἢ αἰπόλος ἤμην καὶ κνίζων συκάμινα
Responditque Amos , et dixit ad Amasiam : Non sum propheta , et non sum filius prophetae : sed armentarius ego sum vellicans sycomoros .
ወተሠጥዎ ፡ አሞጽ ፡ ለኤስያስ ፡ ዋይቤሎ ፡ አንሰ ፡ ኢኪንኩ ፡ ነቢየ ፡ ወኢኮንኩ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነቢይ ፡ አላ ፡ ኖላዊ ፡ ወተቃራሜ ፡ በለስ ፡ አነ ።
Then Amos answered Amaziah, “I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;
7:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקָּחֵ֣נִי יְהֹוָ֔ה מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י הַצֹּ֑אן וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלַי֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה לֵ֥ךְ הִנָּבֵ֖א אֶל ־עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἀνέλαβέν με κύριος ἐκ τῶν προβάτων καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με βάδιζε προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ
Et tulit me Dominus cum sequerer gregem , et dixit Dominus ad me : Vade , propheta ad populum meum Israël .
ወነስአኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እማእከለ ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ወይቤለኒ ፡ ተነበይ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ እስራኤል ።
and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’
7:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעַתָּ֖ה שְׁמַ֣ע דְּבַר ־יְהֹוָ֑ה אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֗ר לֹ֤א תִנָּבֵא֙ עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלֹ֥א תַטִּ֖יף עַל ־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂחָֽק ׃
καὶ νῦν ἄκουε λόγον κυρίου σὺ λέγεις μὴ προφήτευε ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ οὐ μὴ ὀχλαγωγήσῃς ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ιακωβ
Et nunc audi verbum Domini : Tu dicis : Non prophetabis super Israël , et non stillabis super domum idoli .
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ስማዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ንተ ፡ ትቤ ፡ ኢትትነበይ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወኢታንጥዩጁ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ ያዕቆብ ።
Now therefore listen to Yahweh’s word: ‘You say, Don’t prophesy against Israel, and don’t preach against the house of Isaac.’
7:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֞ן כֹּה ־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אִשְׁתְּךָ֞ בָּעִ֤יר תִּזְנֶה֙ וּבָנֶ֤יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֔לוּ וְאַדְמָתְךָ֖ בַּחֶ֣בֶל תְּחֻלָּ֑ק וְאַתָּ֗ה עַל ־אֲדָמָ֤ה טְמֵאָה֙ תָּמ֔וּת וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ ׃ {פ}
διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἡ γυνή σου ἐν τῇ πόλει πορνεύσει καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες σου ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ πεσοῦνται καὶ ἡ γῆ σου ἐν σχοινίῳ καταμετρηθήσεται καὶ σὺ ἐν γῇ ἀκαθάρτῳ τελευτήσεις ὁ δὲ Ισραηλ αἰχμάλωτος ἀχθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ
Propter hoc haec dicit Dominus : Uxor tua in civitate fornicabitur , et filii tui et filiae tuae in gladio cadent , et humus tua funiculo metietur : et tu in terra polluta morieris , et Israël captivus migrabit de terra sua .
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይበ ፡ እግዚያብሔር ፡ ብእሲትከኒ ፡ ትዜመሙ ፡ በሀገር ፡ ዋዳቂቅከ ፡ ወአዋልዲከ ፡ ይወድቁ ፡ በኲና ፡ ወይሰፍርዋ ፡ ለምድርከለ ፡ በሐብል ፡ ወንተሰ ፡ ትምውት ፡ ባምድረ ፡ ርኲስት ፡ ወይጼውውዎ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድሩ ።
Therefore Yahweh says: ‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”
