26:1
Ἀγρίππας δὲ πρὸς τὸν Παῦλον ἔφη· ἐπιτρέπεταί σοι περὶ σεαυτοῦ λέγειν. τότε ὁ Παῦλος ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἀπελογεῖτο,
Agrippa vero ad Paulum ait : Permittitur tibi loqui pro temetipso. Tunc Paulus extenta manu coepit rationem reddere :
ወይቤሎ አግሪጳ ለጳውሎስ አባሕናከ ንግር በእንተ ርእስከ ወእምዝ አንሥአ እዴሁ ጳውሎስ ወአኀዘ ይንግሮሙ።
Agrippa said to Paul, “You may speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand, and made his defense.
26:2
περὶ πάντων ὧν ἐγκαλοῦμαι ὑπὸ Ἰουδαίων, βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, ἥγημαι ἐμαυτὸν μακάριον ἐπὶ σοῦ μέλλων σήμερον ἀπολογεῖσθαι,
De omnibus quibus accusor a Judaeis, rex Agrippa, aestimo me beatum apud te cum sim defensurus me hodie,
ወይቤ በእንተ ኵሉ ዘይትኀሠሡኒ አይሁድ ኦ አግሪጳ ንጉሥ ብፁዕ አነ ዮም ዘበኀቤከ እትዋቀሥ።
“I think myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before you today concerning all the things that I am accused by the Jews,
26:3
μάλιστα γνώστην σε ὄντα πάντων τῶν κατὰ Ἰουδαίους ἐθῶν τε καὶ ζητημάτων· διὸ δέομαι μακροθύμως ἀκοῦσαί μου.
maxime te sciente omnia, et quae apud Judaeos sunt consuetudines et quaestiones : propter quod obsecro patienter me audias.
እስመ ተአምር ግዕዞሙ ወተኃሥሦቶሙ ለአይሁድ ብቍዐኒ ወተዐጊሠከ አጽምዐኒ።
especially because you are expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews. Therefore I beg you to hear me patiently.
26:4
τὴν μὲν οὖν βίωσίν μου τὴν ἐκ νεότητος τὴν ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς γενομένην ἐν τῷ ἔθνει μου ἔν τε Ἱεροσολύμοις ἴσασι πάντες οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι,
Et quidem vitam meam a juventute, quae ab initio fuit in gente mea in Jerosolymis, noverunt omnes Judaei :
ንብረትየሰ ዘበንእስየ በውስተ ሕዝብየ ልህቁ በኢየሩሳሌም ወየአምሩኒ ኵሎሙ አይሁድ እምትካት።
“Indeed, all the Jews know my way of life from my youth up, which was from the beginning among my own nation and at Jerusalem;
26:5
προγινώσκοντές με ἄνωθεν, ἐὰν θέλωσι μαρτυρεῖν, ὅτι κατὰ τὴν ἀκριβεστάτην αἵρεσιν τῆς ἡμετέρας θρησκίας ἔζησα Φαρισαῖος.
praescientes me ab initio (si velint testimonium perhibere) quoniam secundum certissimam sectam nostrae religionis vixi pharisaeus.
ወየአምሩ ኵሎሙ አይሁድ እምትካት እመሰ ፈቀዱ ይኩኑ ስምዐ ከመ በሕገ አበውየ እገብር እንዘ ፈሪሳዊ አነ።
having known me from the first, if they are willing to testify, that after the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
26:6
καὶ νῦν ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι τῆς εἰς τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν ἐπαγγελίας γενομένης ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ ἕστηκα κρινόμενος,
Et nunc, in spe quae ad patres nostros repromissionis facta est a Deo, sto judicio subjectus :
ወይእዜኒ በትውክልተ ተስፋ እንተ ኮነት ቀዲሙ እምኀበ እግዚአብሔር ለአበዊነ እቀውም ግሩረ ለኵነኔ።
Now I stand here to be judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers,
26:7
εἰς ἣν τὸ δωδεκάφυλον ἡμῶν ἐν ἐκτενείᾳ νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν λατρεῦον ἐλπίζει καταντῆσαι· περὶ ἧς ἐλπίδος ἐγκαλοῦμαι ὑπὸ Ἰουδαίων, βασιλεῦ.
in quam duodecim tribus nostrae nocte ac die deservientes, sperant devenire. De qua spe accusor a Judaeis, rex.
እንተ ባቲ ዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ሕዝበ ዚኣነ መዓልተ ወሌሊተ እንዘ ይትቀነዩ ሎቱ ተሰፈዉ በጺሖታ ወበእንተ ውእቱ ተስፋ ይትኀሠሡኒ አይሁድ ኦ ንጉሥ አግሪጳ ምንተ እንከ ትፈትሕ።
which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving night and day, hope to attain. Concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, King Agrippa!
26:8
τί ἄπιστον κρίνεται παρ’ ὑμῖν εἰ ὁ θεὸς νεκροὺς ἐγείρει;
Quid incredibile judicatur apud vos, si Deus mortuos suscitat ?
አኮኑ ይደሉ ንእመን ከመ እግዚአብሔር ያሐይዎሙ ለሙታን።
Why is it judged incredible with you if God does raise the dead?
26:9
ἐγὼ μὲν οὖν ἔδοξα ἐμαυτῷ πρὸς τὸ ὄνομα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ Ναζωραίου δεῖν πολλὰ ἐναντία πρᾶξαι·
Et ego quidem existimaveram me adversus nomen Jesu Nazareni debere multa contraria agere,
ወአነሂ አጥባዕኩ እግበር እኩየ ዲበ ስሙ ለኢየሱስ ናዝራዊ ብዙኀ።
“I myself most certainly thought that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
26:10
ὃ καὶ ἐποίησα ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις, καὶ πολλούς τε τῶν ἁγίων ἐγὼ ἐν φυλακαῖς κατέκλεισα, τὴν παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων ἐξουσίαν λαβών, ἀναιρουμένων τε αὐτῶν κατήνεγκα ψῆφον,
quod et feci Jerosolymis, et multos sanctorum ego in carceribus inclusi, a principibus sacerdotum potestate accepta : et cum occiderentur, detuli sententiam.
ወገበርኩሂ ዘንተ በኢየሩሳሌም ወሞቃሕክዎሙ ለብዙኃን ጻድቃን አስተበዊሕየ በኀበ ሊቃነ ካህናት ከመ እቅትሎሙ።
I also did this in Jerusalem. I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.
26:11
καὶ κατὰ πάσας τὰς συναγωγὰς πολλάκις τιμωρῶν αὐτοὺς ἠνάγκαζον βλασφημεῖν, περισσῶς τε ἐμμαινόμενος αὐτοῖς ἐδίωκον ἕως καὶ εἰς τὰς ἔξω πόλεις.
Et per omnes synagogas frequenter puniens eos, compellebam blasphemare : et amplius insaniens in eos, persequebar usque in exteras civitates.
ወአምጻእኩ መጽሐፈ መባሕት ለኵሉ መኳርብት ወዘልፈ አሐምሞሙ ከመ በግብር ይፅርፉ ላዕለ ስሙ ለኢየሱስ ወፈድፋደሰ አበድኩ ላዕሌሆሙ እንዘ እዴግኖሙ ውስተ አህጉር።
Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.
26:12
Ἐν οἷς πορευόμενος εἰς τὴν Δαμασκὸν μετ’ ἐξουσίας καὶ ἐπιτροπῆς τῆς τῶν ἀρχιερέων
In quibus dum irem Damascum cum potestate et permissu principum sacerdotum,
ወእንዘ አሐውር ሀገረ ደማስቆ አስተበዊሕየ በኀበ ሊቃነ ካህናት በእንተ ዝንቱ።
“Whereupon as I traveled to Damascus with the authority and commission from the chief priests,
26:13
ἡμέρας μέσης κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν εἶδον, βασιλεῦ, οὐρανόθεν ὑπὲρ τὴν λαμπρότητα τοῦ ἡλίου περιλάμψαν με φῶς καὶ τοὺς σὺν ἐμοὶ πορευομένους·
die media in via vidi, rex, de caelo supra splendorem solis circumfulsisse me lumen, et eos qui mecum simul erant.
ወሶበ ይከውን ጊዜ ቀትር እንዘ ሀሎኩ ውስተ ፍኖት ኦ ንጉሥ ርኢኩ እምሰማይ በረቀ መብረቅ ዘይበርህ እምፀሐይ ወኵሉ ሰብእ ዘየሐውሩ ምስሌየ ወለልየኒ ምስሌሆሙ ወደቅነ ውስተ ምድር ኵልነ።
at noon, O king, I saw on the way a light from the sky, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who traveled with me.
26:14
πάντων τε καταπεσόντων ἡμῶν εἰς τὴν γῆν ἤκουσα φωνὴν λέγουσαν πρός με τῇ Ἑβραΐδι διαλέκτῳ, Σαοὺλ Σαούλ, τί με διώκεις; σκληρόν σοι πρὸς κέντρα λακτίζειν.
Omnesque nos cum decidissemus in terram, audivi vocem loquentem mihi hebraica lingua : Saule, Saule, quid me persequeris ? durum est tibi contra stimulum calcitrare.
ወሰማዕኩ ቃለ ዘይብለኒ በነገረ ዕብራይስጥ ሳውል ሳውል ለምንት ትሰድደኒ ይብእሰከ ረጊጽ ውስተ ቀኖት በሊኅ።
When we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’
26:15
ἐγὼ δὲ εἶπα, τίς εἶ, κύριε; ὁ δὲ κύριος εἶπεν, ἐγώ εἰμι Ἰησοῦς ὃν σὺ διώκεις.
Ego autem dixi : Quis es, domine ? Dominus autem dixit : Ego sum Jesus, quem tu persequeris.
ወእቤ አነ መኑ አንተ እግዚኦ ወይቤለኒ አነ ውእቱ ኢየሱስ ዘአንተ ትሰድደኒ።
“I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
26:16
ἀλλὰ ἀνάστηθι καὶ στῆθι ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας σου· εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ ὤφθην σοι, προχειρίσασθαί σε ὑπηρέτην καὶ μάρτυρα ὧν τε εἶδές ὧν τε ὀφθήσομαί σοι,
Sed exsurge, et sta super pedes tuos : ad hoc enim apparui tibi, ut constituam te ministrum, et testem eorum quae vidisti, et eorum quibus apparebo tibi,
ወባሕቱ ተንሥእ ወቁም በእገሪከ እስመ በእንተዝ አስተርአይኩከ እሢምከ ላእከ ወሰማዕተ በዘርኢከኒ ወበዘሀለወከ ትርአየኒ።
But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will reveal to you;
26:17
ἐξαιρούμενός σε ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν, εἰς οὓς ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω σε
eripiens te de populo et gentibus, in quas nunc ego mitto te,
ወአድኅነከ እምሕዝብ ወአሕዛብ እለ እፌንወከ አነ ኀቤሆሙ።
delivering you from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you,
26:18
ἀνοῖξαι ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν, τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι ἀπὸ σκότους εἰς φῶς καὶ τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ σατανᾶ ἐπὶ τὸν θεόν, τοῦ λαβεῖν αὐτοὺς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν καὶ κλῆρον ἐν τοῖς ἡγιασμένοις πίστει τῇ εἰς ἐμέ.
aperire oculos eorum, ut convertantur a tenebris ad lucem, et de potestate Satanae ad Deum, ut accipiant remissionem peccatorum, et sortem inter sanctos, per fidem quae est in me.
ከመ ትክሥት አዕይንቲሆሙ ወትሚጦሙ እምጽልመት ውስተ ብርሃን ወእምጣዖተ ሰይጣን ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ከመ ይትኀደግ ሎሙ ኀጢአቶሙ ወይርከቡ መክፈልተ ምስለ ቅዱሳን በአሚን በስምየ።
to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
26:19
ὅθεν, βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, οὐκ ἐγενόμην ἀπειθὴς τῇ οὐρανίῳ ὀπτασίᾳ,
Unde, rex Agrippa, non fui incredulus caelesti visioni :
ወይእዜኒ ኦ ንጉሥ አግሪጳ ኢክሕድኩ ዘአስተርአየኒ ሊተ እምሰማይ።
“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
26:20
ἀλλὰ τοῖς ἐν Δαμασκῷ πρῶτόν τε καὶ Ἱεροσολύμοις, πᾶσάν τε τὴν χώραν τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἀπήγγελλον μετανοεῖν καὶ ἐπιστρέφειν ἐπὶ τὸν θεόν, ἄξια τῆς μετανοίας ἔργα πράσσοντας.
sed his qui sunt Damasci primum, et Jerosolymis, et in omnem regionem Judaeae, et gentibus, annuntiabam, ut poenitentiam agerent, et converterentur ad Deum, digna poenitentiae opera facientes.
ወቀደምኩ ወነገርክዎሙ ለእለ በደማስቆ ወለእለ በኢየሩሳሌም ወለኵሉ በሐውርተ ይሁዳ ወለአሕዛብኒ ወመሀርክዎሙ ይነስሑ ወይትመየጡ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ወይግበሩ ዘይደሉ ለንስሓሆሙ።
but declared first to them of Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.
26:21
ἕνεκα τούτων με Ἰουδαῖοι συλλαβόμενοι ὄντα ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἐπειρῶντο διαχειρίσασθαι.
Hac ex causa me Judaei, cum essem in templo, comprehensum tentabant interficere.
በእንተ ዝኬ አኀዙኒ አይሁድ በምኵራብ ወፈቀዱ ይቅትሉኒ።
For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me.
26:22
ἐπικουρίας οὖν τυχὼν τῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ ἄχρι τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἕστηκα μαρτυρόμενος μικρῷ τε καὶ μεγάλῳ, οὐδὲν ἐκτὸς λέγων ὧν τε οἱ προφῆται ἐλάλησαν μελλόντων γίνεσθαι καὶ Μωϋσῆς,
Auxilio autem adjutus Dei usque in hodiernum diem, sto, testificans minori atque majori, nihil extra dicens quam ea quae prophetae locuti sunt futura esse, et Moyses,
ወአድኀነኒ እግዚአብሔር ወበጻሕኩ እስከ ዮም ወቆምኩ እንዘ እነግር ለንኡስ ወለዐቢይ ወአልቦ ባዕድ ዘመሀርኩ ዘእንበለ ዘይብሉ ነቢያት ዘሀለዎ ይኩን ወሙሴሂ ዘይቤ።
Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen,
26:23
εἰ παθητὸς ὁ Χριστός, εἰ πρῶτος ἐξ ἀναστάσεως νεκρῶν φῶς μέλλει καταγγέλλειν τῷ τε λαῷ καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.
si passibilis Christus, si primus ex resurrectione mortuorum, lumen annuntiaturus est populo et gentibus.
ከመ ይትቀተል ክርስቶስ ወያቀድም ተንሥኦ እምዉታን ወያበርህ ለሕዝብ ወለኵሉ አሕዛብ ወበሐውርት።
how the Christ must suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to the Gentiles.”
26:24
ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀπολογουμένου ὁ Φῆστος μεγάλῃ τῇ φωνῇ φησίν· μαίνῃ, Παῦλε· τὰ πολλά σε γράμματα εἰς μανίαν περιτρέπει.
Haec loquente eo, et rationem reddente, Festus magna voce dixit : Insanis, Paule : multae te litterae ad insaniam convertunt.
ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ተሰጥወ መኰንን ፊስጦስ ወጸርሐ በዐቢይ ቃል ወይቤሎ ተአብድኑ ጳውሎስ አብዝኆ መጻሕፍትኬ ያዘነግዕ ልበ።
As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are crazy! Your great learning is driving you insane!”
26:25
ὁ δὲ Παῦλος· οὐ μαίνομαι, φησίν, κράτιστε Φῆστε, ἀλλὰ ἀληθείας καὶ σωφροσύνης ῥήματα ἀποφθέγγομαι.
Et Paulus : Non insanio, inquit, optime Feste, sed veritatis et sobrietatis verba loquor.
ወይቤሎ ጳውሎስ እበድሰ አልብየ ኦ ፊስጦስ መኰንን ዳእሙ እነግር ጽድቀ ወንጽሐ።
But he said, “I am not crazy, most excellent Festus, but boldly declare words of truth and reasonableness.
26:26
ἐπίσταται γὰρ περὶ τούτων ὁ βασιλεύς, πρὸς ὃν καὶ παρρησιαζόμενος λαλῶ· λανθάνειν γὰρ αὐτὸν τι τούτων οὐ πείθομαι οὐθέν, οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἐν γωνίᾳ πεπραγμένον τοῦτο.
Scit enim de his rex, ad quem et constanter loquor : latere enim eum nihil horum arbitror. Neque enim in angulo quidquam horum gestum est.
ወየአምር ሊተ ለሊሁ ንጉሥ አግሪጳ ዘበኀቤሁ ክሡተ እነግር ወይመስለኒሂ አልቦ ዘይስሕት እምዝንቱ እስመ ኢኮነ ኅቡአ በማዕዘንት።
For the king knows of these things, to whom also I speak freely. For I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him, for this has not been done in a corner.
26:27
πιστεύεις, βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, τοῖς προφήταις; οἶδα ὅτι πιστεύεις.
Credis, rex Agrippa, prophetis ? Scio quia credis.
ናሁ ትትአመን በቃለ ነቢያት ኦ ንጉሥ አግሪጳ! ወአአምር ከመሰ ተአምን።
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”
26:28
ὁ δὲ Ἀγρίππας πρὸς τὸν Παῦλον, ἐν ὀλίγῳ με πείθεις Χριστιανὸν ποιῆσαι.
Agrippa autem ad Paulum : In modico suades me christianum fieri.
ወይቤሎ አግሪጳ ለጳውሎስ ተኀይጠኒኑ ታብአኒ ውስተ ዐቢይ ክርስቲያን ሕቀ ክመ ዘእምአባእከኒ ውስተ ክርስቲያን ይእዜ።
Agrippa said to Paul, “With a little persuasion are you trying to make me a Christian?”
26:29
ὁ δὲ Παῦλος, εὐξαίμην ἂν τῷ θεῷ καὶ ἐν ὀλίγῳ καὶ ἐν μεγάλῳ οὐ μόνον σὲ ἀλλὰ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντάς μου σήμερον γενέσθαι τοιούτους ὁποῖος κἀγώ εἰμι, παρεκτὸς τῶν δεσμῶν τούτων.
Et Paulus : Opto apud Deum, et in modico et in magno, non tantum te, sed etiam omnes qui audiunt hodie fieri tales, qualis et ego sum, exceptis vinculis his.
ወይቤሎ ጳውሎስ አንሰ እጼሊ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር እመሂ በኅዳጥ ወእመሂ በብዙኅ አኮ ባሕቲትከ አላ ዓዲ ኵሎሙ እለ ይሰምዑኒ ዮም ይኩኑ ከማየ ዘእንበለ ዝ መዋቅሕት።
Paul said, “I pray to God, that whether with little or with much, not only you, but also all that hear me today, might become such as I am, except for these bonds.”
26:30
ἀνέστη τε ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ὁ ἡγεμὼν ἥ τε Βερνίκη καὶ οἱ συνκαθήμενοι αὐτοῖς,
Et exsurrexit rex, et praeses, et Bernice, et qui assidebant eis.
ወእምዝ ተንሥአ ንጉሥ ወመኰንን ወበርኒቄ ወዐበይቶሙ።
The king rose up with the governor and Bernice, and those who sat with them.
26:31
καὶ ἀναχωρήσαντες ἐλάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους λέγοντες ὅτι οὐδὲν θανάτου ἢ δεσμῶν ἄξιον τι πράσσει ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος.
Et cum secessissent, loquebantur ad invicem, dicentes : Quia nihil morte aut vinculis dignum quid fecit homo iste.
ወተግኂሦሙ በባሕቲቶሙ ተናገሩ በበይናቲሆሙ ወይቤሉ አልቦ ዘአበሰ ዝ ብእሲ በዘይመውት ወኢበዘይትሞቃሕ።
When they had withdrawn, they spoke to one another, saying, “This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.”
26:32
Ἀγρίππας δὲ τῷ Φήστῳ ἔφη· ἀπολελύσθαι ἐδύνατο ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος εἰ μὴ ἐπεκέκλητο Καίσαρα.
Agrippa autem Festo dixit : Dimitti poterat homo hic, si non appellasset Caesarem.
ወይቤሎ አግሪጳ ለፊስጦስ መፍትው እመ ፈታሕክሙ ዘንተ ብእሴ ወኀደግምዎ ይሕየው ወእመ አኮሰ ተማሐፀነ በቄሣር ወኀበ ቄሣር የሐውር ወኀበ ቄሣር ፈንዎ።
Agrippa said to Festus, “This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
