3:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִיהוֹרָ֣ם בֶּן ־אַחְאָ֗ב מָלַ֤ךְ עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן בִּשְׁנַת֙ שְׁמֹנֶ֣ה עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ שְׁתֵּים ־עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָֽה ׃
καὶ Ιωραμ υἱὸς Αχααβ ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ισραηλ ἐν ἔτει ὀκτωκαιδεκάτῳ Ιωσαφατ βασιλεῖ Ιουδα καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν δώδεκα ἔτη
Joram vero filius Achab regnavit super Israël in Samaria anno decimooctavo Josaphat regis Judae : regnavitque duodecim annis .
ወኢዮራም ፡ ወልደ ፡ አካአብ ፡ ነግሠ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አመ ፡ ፲ወ፰ዓመተ ፡ መንግሥቱ ፡ ለኢዮሳፍጥ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወነግሠ ፡ ፲ወ፪ዓመተ ።
Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.
3:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּעֲשֶׂ֤ה הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה רַ֕ק לֹ֥א כְאָבִ֖יו וּכְאִמּ֑וֹ וַיָּ֙סַר֙ אֶת ־מַצְּבַ֣ת הַבַּ֔עַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה אָבִֽיו ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου πλὴν οὐχ ὡς ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐχ ὡς ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ μετέστησεν τὰς στήλας τοῦ Βααλ ἃς ἐποίησεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ
Et fecit malum coram Domino , sed non sicut pater suus et mater : tulit enim statuas Baal quas fecerat pater ejus .
ወገብረ ፡ እኩየ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወባሕቱ ፡ አኮ ፡ ከመ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ወአኮ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሙ ፡ ወእሰሰለ ፡ አምሳሊሁ ፡ ለበዓል ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ አቡሁ ።
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, but not like his father and like his mother, for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.
3:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ רַ֠ק בְּחַטֹּ֞אות יָרׇבְעָ֧ם בֶּן ־נְבָ֛ט אֲשֶׁר ־הֶחֱטִ֥יא אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל דָּבֵ֑ק לֹא ־סָ֖ר מִמֶּֽנָּה ׃ {פ}
πλὴν ἐν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ ὃς ἐξήμαρτεν τὸν Ισραηλ ἐκολλήθη οὐκ ἀπέστη ἀπ’ αὐτῆς
Verumtamen in peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat , qui peccare fecit Israël , adhaesit , nec recessit ab eis .
ዳእሙ ፡ ተለወ ፡ ኀጢአቶ ፡ ለኢዮርብዓም ፡ ወልደ ፡ ናባጥ ፡ ዘአስሐቶሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወኪያሁሰ ፡ ኢኀደገ ።
Nevertheless he held to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from them.
3:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמֵישַׁ֥ע מֶלֶךְ ־מוֹאָ֖ב הָיָ֣ה נֹקֵ֑ד וְהֵשִׁ֤יב לְמֶֽלֶךְ ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאָה ־אֶ֣לֶף כָּרִ֔ים וּמֵ֥אָה אֶ֖לֶף אֵילִ֥ים צָֽמֶר ׃
καὶ Μωσα βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἦν νωκηδ καὶ ἐπέστρεφεν τῷ βασιλεῖ Ισραηλ ἐν τῇ ἐπαναστάσει ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας ἀρνῶν καὶ ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας κριῶν ἐπὶ πόκων
Porro Mesa rex Moab nutriebat pecora multa , et solvebat regi Israël centum millia agnorum , et centum millia arietum cum velleribus suis .
ወሞ [ሳ ]፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ሜኖቅት ፡ ወሀቦ ፡ ፲፼አባግዐ ፡ ፀምር ፡ ወ፲፼ሐራጊተ ፡ ጠሊ ።
Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder; and he supplied the king of Israel with one hundred thousand lambs and the wool of one hundred thousand rams.
3:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֖י כְּמ֣וֹת אַחְאָ֑ב וַיִּפְשַׁ֥ע מֶלֶךְ ־מוֹאָ֖ב בְּמֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Αχααβ καὶ ἠθέτησεν βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἐν βασιλεῖ Ισραηλ
Cumque mortuus fuisset Achab , praevaricatus est foedus quod habebat cum rege Israël .
ወእምዝ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ሞተ ፡ አካአብ ፡ ወዐለውዎ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ።
But when Ahab was dead, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
3:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּצֵ֞א הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ יְהוֹרָ֛ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא מִשֹּׁמְר֑וֹן וַיִּפְקֹ֖ד אֶת ־כׇּל ־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιωραμ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐκ Σαμαρείας καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο τὸν Ισραηλ
Egressus est igitur rex Joram in die illa de Samaria , et recensuit universum Israël .
ወወፅአ ፡ ኢዮራም ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ውእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሰማርያ ፡ ወአንሥኦሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ።
King Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel.
3:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֡לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ אֶל ־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֨ט מֶלֶךְ ־יְהוּדָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר מֶ֤לֶךְ מוֹאָב֙ פָּשַׁ֣ע בִּ֔י הֲתֵלֵ֥ךְ אִתִּ֛י אֶל ־מוֹאָ֖ב לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶֽעֱלֶ֔ה כָּמ֧וֹנִי כָמ֛וֹךָ כְּעַמִּ֥י כְעַמֶּ֖ךָ כְּסוּסַ֥י כְּסוּסֶֽיךָ ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν πρὸς Ιωσαφατ βασιλέα Ιουδα λέγων βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ἠθέτησεν ἐν ἐμοί εἰ πορεύσῃ μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς Μωαβ εἰς πόλεμον καὶ εἶπεν ἀναβήσομαι ὅμοιός μοι ὅμοιός σοι ὡς ὁ λαός μου ὁ λαός σου ὡς οἱ ἵπποι μου οἱ ἵπποι σου
Misitque ad Josaphat regem Juda , dicens : Rex Moab recessit a me : veni mecum contra eum ad praelium . Qui respondit : Ascendam : qui meus est , tuus est : populus meus , populus tuus , et equi mei , equi tui .
ወሖረ ፡ ወለአከ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዮሳፍጥ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ዐለወኒአ ፡ ትመጽእኑአ ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ንጽብኦሙ ፡ ለሞአብአ ፤ ወይቤሎ ፡ ኦሆአ ፡ አዐርግአ ፡ ምስሌከአ ፤ አነኒአ ፡ ከማከአ ፡ ወአንተኒአ ፡ ከማየ ፤ ሕዝብየኒአ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሕዝብከአ ፡ ወአፍራስየኒአ ፡ ከመ ፡ አፍራሲከአ ።
He went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me against Moab to battle?” He said, “I will go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”
3:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֵי ־זֶ֥ה הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ נַעֲלֶ֑ה וַיֹּ֕אמֶר דֶּ֖רֶךְ מִדְבַּ֥ר אֱדֽוֹם ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ποίᾳ ὁδῷ ἀναβῶ καὶ εἶπεν ὁδὸν ἔρημον Εδωμ
Dixitque : Per quam viam ascendemus ? At ille respondit : Per desertum Idumaeae .
ወይቤሎ ፡ እንተ ፡ አይ ፡ ፍኖትአ ፡ ነዐርግአ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ እንተ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ በድውአ ፡ ዘኤዶምአ ።
Then he said, “Which way shall we go up?” Jehoram answered, “The way of the wilderness of Edom.”
3:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֩לֶךְ֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל וּמֶֽלֶךְ ־יְהוּדָה֙ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אֱד֔וֹם וַיָּסֹ֕בּוּ דֶּ֖רֶךְ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים וְלֹא ־הָיָ֨ה מַ֧יִם לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה וְלַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּרַגְלֵיהֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Εδωμ καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν ὁδὸν ἑπτὰ ἡμερῶν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὕδωρ τῇ παρεμβολῇ καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσιν τοῖς ἐν τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῶν
Perrexerunt igitur rex Israël , et rex Juda , et rex Edom , et circuierunt per viam septem dierum , nec erat aqua exercitui et jumentis quae sequebantur eos .
ወሖሩ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወንጉሠ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ወዖዱ ፡ ሰቡዐ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ እንዘ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ ወኀጥኡ ፡ ማየ ፡ ለትዕይንት ፡ ወለእንስሳሆሙ ፡ ዘይጼዐኑ ።
So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched for seven days along a circuitous route. There was no water for the army or for the animals that followed them.
3:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲהָ֕הּ כִּי ־קָרָ֣א יְהֹוָ֗ה לִשְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙ הַמְּלָכִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה לָתֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖ם בְּיַד ־מוֹאָֽב ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ ὦ ὅτι κέκληκεν κύριος τοὺς τρεῖς βασιλεῖς παρερχομένους δοῦναι αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ Μωαβ
Dixitque rex Israël : Heu ! heu ! heu ! congregavit nos Dominus tres reges ut traderet in manus Moab .
ወይቤ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አሌ ፡ ለነ ፡ አምጽአነኑ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለ፫ነገሥት ፡ ያግብአነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሆሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ።
The king of Israel said, “Alas! For Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
3:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט הַאֵ֨ין פֹּ֤ה נָבִיא֙ לַיהֹוָ֔ה וְנִדְרְשָׁ֥ה אֶת ־יְהֹוָ֖ה מֵאוֹת֑וֹ וַ֠יַּ֠עַן אֶחָ֞ד מֵעַבְדֵ֤י מֶֽלֶךְ ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר פֹּ֚ה אֱלִישָׁ֣ע בֶּן ־שָׁפָ֔ט אֲשֶׁר ־יָ֥צַק מַ֖יִם עַל ־יְדֵ֥י אֵלִיָּֽהוּ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ οὐκ ἔστιν ὧδε προφήτης τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἐπιζητήσωμεν τὸν κύριον παρ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπεκρίθη εἷς τῶν παίδων βασιλέως Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπεν ὧδε Ελισαιε υἱὸς Σαφατ ὃς ἐπέχεεν ὕδωρ ἐπὶ χεῖρας Ηλιου
Et ait Josaphat : Estne hic propheta Domini , ut deprecemur Dominum per eum ? Et respondit unus de servis regis Israël : Est hic Eliseus filius Saphat , qui fundebat aquam super manus Eliae .
ወይቤ ፡ ዮሳፍጥ ፡ አልቦኑ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ነቢየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወንስአል ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በኀቤሁ ፡ ወአውሥአ ፡ ፩እምውስተ ፡ ደቁ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ኤልሳዕ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሳፋጥ ፡ ኀሃቤ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ለኤልያስ ።
But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”
3:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יְה֣וֹשָׁפָ֔ט יֵ֥שׁ אוֹת֖וֹ דְּבַר ־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיֵּרְד֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו מֶ֧לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט וּמֶ֥לֶךְ אֱדֽוֹם ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσαφατ ἔστιν αὐτῷ ῥῆμα κυρίου καὶ κατέβη πρὸς αὐτὸν βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ Ιωσαφατ βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ βασιλεὺς Εδωμ
Et ait Josaphat : Est apud eum sermo Domini . Descenditque ad eum rex Israël , et Josaphat rex Juda , et rex Edom .
ወይቤ ፡ ዮሳፍጥ ፡ ቦኑ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ወወረዱ ፡ ኀቤሁ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወዮሳፍጥ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወንጉሠ ፡ ኤዶም ።
Jehoshaphat said, “Yahweh’s word is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
3:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֜ע אֶל ־מֶ֤לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מַה ־לִּ֣י וָלָ֔ךְ לֵ֚ךְ אֶל ־נְבִיאֵ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ וְאֶל ־נְבִיאֵ֖י אִמֶּ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַ֗ל כִּֽי ־קָרָ֤א יְהֹוָה֙ לִשְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙ הַמְּלָכִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה לָתֵ֥ת אוֹתָ֖ם בְּיַד ־מוֹאָֽב ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ελισαιε πρὸς βασιλέα Ισραηλ τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί δεῦρο πρὸς τοὺς προφήτας τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ μή ὅτι κέκληκεν κύριος τοὺς τρεῖς βασιλεῖς τοῦ παραδοῦναι αὐτοὺς εἰς χεῖρας Μωαβ
Dixit autem Eliseus ad regem Israël : Quid mihi et tibi est ? vade ad prophetas patris tui et matris tuae . Et ait illi rex Israël : Quare congregavit Dominus tres reges hos ut traderet eos in manus Moab ?
ወይቤ ፡ ኤልሳዕ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ምንተ ፡ ብየ ፡ ምስሌከ ፤ሖር ፡ ኀበ ፡ ነቢያቲሁ ፡ ለአቡከ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ አምጽአነኑ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለ፫ነገሥት ፡ ከመ ፡ ያግብአነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሆሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ።
Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother.” The king of Israel said to him, “No, for Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
3:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֗ע חַי ־יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָמַ֣דְתִּי לְפָנָ֔יו כִּ֗י לוּלֵ֛י פְּנֵ֛י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט מֶֽלֶךְ ־יְהוּדָ֖ה אֲנִ֣י נֹשֵׂ֑א אִם ־אַבִּ֥יט אֵלֶ֖יךָ וְאִם ־אֶרְאֶֽךָּ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ελισαιε ζῇ κύριος τῶν δυνάμεων ᾧ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ὅτι εἰ μὴ πρόσωπον Ιωσαφατ βασιλέως Ιουδα ἐγὼ λαμβάνω εἰ ἐπέβλεψα πρὸς σὲ καὶ εἶδόν σε
Dixitque ad eum Eliseus : Vivit Dominus exercituum , in cujus conspectu sto , quod si non vultum Josaphat regis Judae erubescerem , non attendissem quidem te , nec respexissem .
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ኤልሳዕ ፡ ሕያው ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ ኀይል ፡ ዘቆምኩ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ሶበ ፡ አኮ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ዮሳፍጥ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ዘኀፈርኩ ፡ እምኢነጸርኩ ።
Elisha said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I respect the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.
3:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעַתָּ֖ה קְחוּ ־לִ֣י מְנַגֵּ֑ן וְהָיָה֙ כְּנַגֵּ֣ן הַֽמְנַגֵּ֔ן וַתְּהִ֥י עָלָ֖יו יַד ־יְהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ νυνὶ δὲ λαβέ μοι ψάλλοντα καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἔψαλλεν ὁ ψάλλων καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ’ αὐτὸν χεὶρ κυρίου
Nunc autem adducite mihi psaltem . Cumque caneret psaltes , facta est super eum manus Domini , et ait :
ወይእዜኒ ፡ አምጽኡ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ዘይዜምር ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ዘመረ ፡ ዘይዜምር ፡ መጽአ ፡ እደ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕሌሁ ።
But now bring me a musician.” When the musician played, Yahweh’s hand came on him.
3:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֑ה עָשֹׂ֛ה הַנַּ֥חַל הַזֶּ֖ה גֵּבִ֥ים ׀גֵּבִֽים ׃
καὶ εἶπεν τάδε λέγει κύριος ποιήσατε τὸν χειμάρρουν τοῦτον βοθύνους βοθύνους
Haec dicit Dominus : Facite alveum torrentis hujus fossas et fossas .
ወይቤ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ግበሩአ ፡ ዐዘቃተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱአ ፡ ፈለግአ ።
He said, “Yahweh says, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’
3:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי ־כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה לֹא ־תִרְא֥וּ ר֙וּחַ֙ וְלֹא ־תִרְא֣וּ גֶ֔שֶׁם וְהַנַּ֥חַל הַה֖וּא יִמָּ֣לֵא מָ֑יִם וּשְׁתִיתֶ֛ם אַתֶּ֥ם וּמִקְנֵיכֶ֖ם וּֽבְהֶמְתְּכֶֽם ׃
ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐκ ὄψεσθε πνεῦμα καὶ οὐκ ὄψεσθε ὑετόν καὶ ὁ χειμάρρους οὗτος πλησθήσεται ὕδατος καὶ πίεσθε ὑμεῖς καὶ αἱ κτήσεις ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν
Haec enim dicit Dominus : Non videbitis ventum , neque pluviam : et alveus iste replebitur aquis , et bibetis vos , et familiae vestrae , et jumenta vestra .
እስመ ፡ ከመዝአ ፡ ይቤአ ፡ እግዚአብሔርአ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ኢትሬእዩአ ፡ ነፋሰአ ፡ ወኢትሬእዩአ ፡ ዝናመአ ፡ ወይመልእአ ፡ ዝአ ፡ ፈለግአ ፡ ወትሰትዩአ ፡ አንትሙአ ፡ ወጥሪትክሙአ ፡ ወእንስሳክሙአ ።
For Yahweh says, ‘You will not see wind, neither will you see rain, yet that valley will be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your other animals.
3:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְנָקַ֥ל זֹ֖את בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְנָתַ֥ן אֶת ־מוֹאָ֖ב בְּיֶדְכֶֽם ׃
καὶ κούφη αὕτη ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου καὶ παραδώσω τὴν Μωαβ ἐν χειρὶ ὑμῶν
Parumque est hoc in conspectu Domini : insuper tradet etiam Moab in manus vestras .
እስመአ ፡ ቀሊል ፡ ውእቱ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ወኣገብኦሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴክሙ ።
This is an easy thing in Yahweh’s sight. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
3:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהִכִּיתֶ֞ם כׇּל ־עִ֤יר מִבְצָר֙ וְכׇל ־עִ֣יר מִבְח֔וֹר וְכׇל ־עֵ֥ץ טוֹב֙ תַּפִּ֔ילוּ וְכׇל ־מַעְיְנֵי ־מַ֖יִם תִּסְתֹּ֑מוּ וְכֹל֙ הַחֶלְקָ֣ה הַטּוֹבָ֔ה תַּכְאִ֖בוּ בָּאֲבָנִֽים ׃
καὶ πατάξετε πᾶσαν πόλιν ὀχυρὰν καὶ πᾶν ξύλον ἀγαθὸν καταβαλεῖτε καὶ πάσας πηγὰς ὕδατος ἐμφράξετε καὶ πᾶσαν μερίδα ἀγαθὴν ἀχρειώσετε ἐν λίθοις
Et percutietis omnem civitatem munitam , et omnem urbem electam , et universum lignum fructiferum succidetis , cunctosque fontes aquarum obturabitis , et omnem agrum egregium operietis lapidibus .
ወቅትሉ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ዐበይተ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዕፀዊሆሙ ፡ ዘሠናይ ፡ ግዝሙ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ አንቅዕተ ፡ ማያቲሆሙ ፡ ድፍኑ ፡ ወኵሎአ ፡ ንዋዮሙአ ፡ ሠናየ ፡ ስብሩአ ፡ በእብንአ ።
You shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’”
3:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֤י בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ כַּעֲל֣וֹת הַמִּנְחָ֔ה וְהִנֵּה ־מַ֥יִם בָּאִ֖ים מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ אֱד֑וֹם וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ אֶת ־הַמָּֽיִם ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ πρωὶ ἀναβαινούσης τῆς θυσίας καὶ ἰδοὺ ὕδατα ἤρχοντο ἐξ ὁδοῦ Εδωμ καὶ ἐπλήσθη ἡ γῆ ὕδατος
Factum est igitur mane , quando sacrificium offerri solet , et ecce aquae veniebant per viam Edom , et repleta est terra aquis .
ወሶበ ፡ ጸብሐ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ጊዜ ፡ ይሠውዑ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ማይ ፡ እምፍኖተ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ወመልአ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ውእተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ማይ ።
In the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
3:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְכׇל ־מוֹאָב֙ שָֽׁמְע֔וּ כִּי ־עָל֥וּ הַמְּלָכִ֖ים לְהִלָּ֣חֶם בָּ֑ם וַיִּצָּעֲק֗וּ מִכֹּ֨ל חֹגֵ֤ר חֲגֹרָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה וַיַּעַמְד֖וּ עַֽל ־הַגְּבֽוּל ׃
καὶ πᾶσα Μωαβ ἤκουσαν ὅτι ἀνέβησαν οἱ βασιλεῖς πολεμεῖν αὐτούς καὶ ἀνεβόησαν ἐκ παντὸς περιεζωσμένου ζώνην καὶ ἐπάνω καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τοῦ ὁρίου
Universi autem Moabitae audientes quod ascendissent reges ut pugnarent adversum eos , convocaverunt omnes qui accincti erant balteo desuper , et steterunt in terminis .
ወሶበ ፡ ሰምዑ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዐርጉ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ነገሥት ፡ ይጽብእዎሙ ፡ አንሥኡ ፡ ዐውያተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ በሓውርቲሆሙ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ ርድኡአ ፡ ኵልክሙአ ፡ በንዋየ ፡ ሐቅልክሙአ ፡ ወተጋብኡ ፡ ወቆሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ደብር ።
Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, young and old, and stood on the border.
3:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ בַבֹּ֔קֶר וְהַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ זָרְחָ֣ה עַל ־הַמָּ֑יִם וַיִּרְא֨וּ מוֹאָ֥ב מִנֶּ֛גֶד אֶת ־הַמַּ֖יִם אֲדֻמִּ֥ים כַּדָּֽם ׃
καὶ ὤρθρισαν τὸ πρωί καὶ ὁ ἥλιος ἀνέτειλεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ εἶδεν Μωαβ ἐξ ἐναντίας τὰ ὕδατα πυρρὰ ὡσεὶ αἷμα
Primoque mane surgentes , et orto jam sole ex adverso aquarum , viderunt Moabitae e contra aquas rubras quasi sanguinem ,
ወጌሱ ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ሠረቀ ፡ ፀሓይ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ማይ ፡ ወርእዩ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ቄሐ ፡ ከመ ፡ ደም ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ማይ ።
They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood.
3:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ דָּ֣ם זֶ֔ה הׇחֳרֵ֤ב נֶֽחֶרְבוּ֙ הַמְּלָכִ֔ים וַיַּכּ֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת ־רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְעַתָּ֥ה לַשָּׁלָ֖ל מוֹאָֽב ׃
καὶ εἶπαν αἷμα τοῦτο τῆς ῥομφαίας ἐμαχέσαντο οἱ βασιλεῖς καὶ ἐπάταξαν ἀνὴρ τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ καὶ νῦν ἐπὶ τὰ σκῦλα Μωαβ
dixeruntque : Sanguis gladii est : pugnaverunt reges contra se , et caesi sunt mutuo : nunc perge ad praedam , Moab .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ተቃተሉ ፡ እሉ ፡ ነገሥት ፡ በበይናቲሆሙ ፤ ደመ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዝንቱ ፤ ወቀተሉ ፡ ቢጾሙ ፡ ወይእዜኒ ፡ ሀቡነ ፡ ንረድ ፡ ንበርብሮሙ ።
They said, “This is blood. The kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each other. Now therefore, Moab, to the plunder!”
3:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּבֹ֘אוּ֮ אֶל ־מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיָּקֻ֤מוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיַּכּ֣וּ אֶת ־מוֹאָ֔ב וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם (ויבו ) [וַיַּ֨כּוּ ־]בָ֔הּ וְהַכּ֖וֹת אֶת ־מוֹאָֽב ׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν Ισραηλ καὶ Ισραηλ ἀνέστησαν καὶ ἐπάταξαν τὴν Μωαβ καὶ ἔφυγον ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰσπορευόμενοι καὶ τύπτοντες τὴν Μωαβ
Perrexeruntque in castra Israël : porro consurgens Israël , percussit Moab : at illi fugerunt coram eis . Venerunt igitur qui vicerant , et percusserunt Moab ,
ወቦኡ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወተንሥኡ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ፡ ወጐዩ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጸሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ወእንዘ ፡ ይበውኡ ፡ ቀተልዎሙ ፡ ለሞአብ ።
When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land attacking the Moabites.
3:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֶעָרִ֣ים יַהֲרֹ֡סוּ וְכׇל ־חֶלְקָ֣ה ט֠וֹבָ֠ה יַשְׁלִ֨יכוּ אִישׁ ־אַבְנ֜וֹ וּמִלְא֗וּהָ וְכׇל ־מַעְיַן ־מַ֤יִם יִסְתֹּ֙מוּ֙ וְכׇל ־עֵֽץ ־ט֣וֹב יַפִּ֔ילוּ עַד ־הִשְׁאִ֧יר אֲבָנֶ֛יהָ בַּקִּ֖יר חֲרָ֑שֶׂת וַיָּסֹ֥בּוּ הַקַּלָּעִ֖ים וַיַּכּֽוּהָ ׃
καὶ τὰς πόλεις καθεῖλον καὶ πᾶσαν μερίδα ἀγαθὴν ἔρριψαν ἀνὴρ τὸν λίθον καὶ ἐνέπλησαν αὐτὴν καὶ πᾶσαν πηγὴν ὕδατος ἐνέφραξαν καὶ πᾶν ξύλον ἀγαθὸν κατέβαλον ἕως τοῦ καταλιπεῖν τοὺς λίθους τοῦ τοίχου καθῃρημένους καὶ ἐκύκλευσαν οἱ σφενδονῆται καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτήν
et civitates destruxerunt : et omnem agrum optimum , mittentes singuli lapides , repleverunt : et universos fontes aquarum obturaverunt : et omnia ligna fructifera succiderunt , ita ut muri tantum fictiles remanerent : et circumdata est civitas a fundibulariis , et magna ex parte percussa .
ወነሠቱ ፡ ፭አህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ገራውሂሆሙ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወገሩ ፡ እብነ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወመልእዎ ፡ ወደፈኑ ፡ ዐዘቃቲሆሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዖሞሙ ፡ ወዕፀዎሙ ፡ ሠናየ ፡ ገዘሙ ፡ ወነሠቱ ፡ ቅጽረ ፡ ሀገሮሙ ፡ ወዐገትዎሙ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ሞፀፍ ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ ።
They beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land each man cast his stone, and filled it. They also stopped all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees, until in Kir Hareseth all they left was its stones; however the men armed with slings went around it and attacked it.
3:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּרְא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב כִּֽי ־חָזַ֥ק מִמֶּ֖נּוּ הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיִּקַּ֣ח א֠וֹת֠וֹ שְׁבַע ־מֵא֨וֹת אִ֜ישׁ שֹׁ֣לֵֽף חֶ֗רֶב לְהַבְקִ֛יעַ אֶל ־מֶ֥לֶךְ אֱד֖וֹם וְלֹ֥א יָכֹֽלוּ ׃
καὶ εἶδεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Μωαβ ὅτι ἐκραταίωσεν ὑπὲρ αὐτὸν ὁ πόλεμος καὶ ἔλαβεν μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἑπτακοσίους ἄνδρας ἐσπασμένους ῥομφαίαν διακόψαι πρὸς βασιλέα Εδωμ καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν
Quod cum vidisset rex Moab , praevaluisse scilicet hostes , tulit secum septingentos viros educentes gladium , ut irrumperent ad regem Edom : et non potuerunt .
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቀተልዎሙ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሞእዎሙ ፡ ነሥአ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ፯፻ብእሴ ፡ ወሖረ ፡ ይትቃተሎ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ወስእኖ ።
When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too severe for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew a sword, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not.
3:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקַּח֩ אֶת ־בְּנ֨וֹ הַבְּכ֜וֹר אֲשֶׁר ־יִמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֗יו וַיַּעֲלֵ֤הוּ עֹלָה֙ עַל ־הַ֣חֹמָ֔ה וַיְהִ֥י קֶצֶף ־גָּד֖וֹל עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּסְעוּ֙ מֵעָלָ֔יו וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ לָאָֽרֶץ ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρωτότοκον ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ὁλοκαύτωμα ἐπὶ τοῦ τείχους καὶ ἐγένετο μετάμελος μέγας ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπῆραν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν γῆν
Arripiensque filium suum primogenitum , qui regnaturus erat pro eo , obtulit holocaustum super murum : et facta est indignatio magna in Israël , statimque recesserunt ab eo , et reversi sunt in terram suam .
ወእምዝ ፡ ነሥኦ ፡ ለወልዱ ፡ ዘበኵሩ ፡ ዘይነግሥ ፡ ህየንቴሁ ፡ ወሦዖ ፡ በዲበ ፡ አረፍት ፡ ወነስሑ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ ንስሓ ፡ ወግዕዙ ፡ ወአተዉ ፡ ብሔሮሙ ።
Then he took his oldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. There was great wrath against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
