1:1
Παῦλος ἀπόστολος Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ κατ’ ἐπιταγὴν θεοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τῆς ἐλπίδος ἡμῶν
Paulus Apostolus Jesu Christi secundum imperium Dei Salvatoris nostri, et Christi Jesu spei nostrae,
እምጳውሎስ ሐዋርያሁ ለእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ በትእዛዘ እግዚአብሔር መድኀኒነ ወኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ተስፋነ።
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,
1:2
Τιμοθέῳ γνησίῳ τέκνῳ ἐν πίστει· χάρις, ἔλεος, εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν.
Timotheo dilecto filio in fide. Gratia, misericordia, et pax a Deo Patre, et Christo Jesu Domino nostro.
ለጢሞቴዎስ ወልድየ ዘአፈቅር በሃይማኖት ሰላም ለከ ወሣህል ወጸጋሁ ለእግዚአብሔር አቡነ ወእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ።
to Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
1:3
Καθὼς παρεκάλεσά σε προσμεῖναι ἐν Ἐφέσῳ πορευόμενος εἰς Μακεδονίαν, ἵνα παραγγείλῃς τισὶν μὴ ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖν
Sicut rogavi te ut remaneres Ephesi cum irem in Macedoniam, ut denuntiares quibusdam ne aliter docerent,
እስመ አስተብቋዕኩከ ትንበር ኤፌሶን አመ አሐውር መቄዶንያ ከመ ትገሥጾሙ ከመ ኢያምጽኡ ካልአ ትምህርተ።
As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain men not to teach a different doctrine,
1:4
μηδὲ προσέχειν μύθοις καὶ γενεαλογίαις ἀπεράντοις, αἵτινες ἐκζητήσεις παρέχουσιν μᾶλλον ἢ οἰκονομίαν θεοῦ τὴν ἐν πίστει·
neque intenderent fabulis, et genealogiis interminatis : quae quaestiones praestant magis quam aedificationem Dei, quae est in fide.
ወኢያምጽኡ መኀድምተ ወዛውዐ ነገር ዘይፈጥሩ በዘያስሕቱ ወያመጽኡ ተኀሥሦ ወየኀድጉ ሕገ እግዚአብሔር ዘበሃይማኖት።
and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than God’s stewardship, which is in faith.
1:5
τὸ δὲ τέλος τῆς παραγγελίας ἐστὶν ἀγάπη ἐκ καθαρᾶς καρδίας καὶ συνειδήσεως ἀγαθῆς καὶ πίστεως ἀνυποκρίτου,
Finis autem praecepti est caritas de corde puro, et conscientia bona, et fide non ficta.
ወማኅለቅቱሰ ለትእዛዝ ተፋቅሮ በንጹሕ ልብ ወበሠናይ ግዕዝ ወሃይማኖት ዘአልቦ ኑፋቄ።
But the goal of this command is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith,
1:6
ὧν τινες ἀστοχήσαντες ἐξετράπησαν εἰς ματαιολογίαν,
A quibus quidam aberrantes, conversi sunt in vaniloquium,
እስመ ቦ እለ አውከኩ ወገብኡ ውስተ ነገረ ከንቱ።
from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned away to vain talking,
1:7
θέλοντες εἶναι νομοδιδάσκαλοι, μὴ νοοῦντες μήτε ἃ λέγουσιν μήτε περὶ τίνων διαβεβαιοῦνται.
volentes esse legis doctores, non intelligentes neque quae loquuntur, neque de quibus affirmant.
ወእንዘ ይፈቅዱ መምህራነ ይኩኑ ኢየአምሩ ዘለሊሆሙ ይነብቡ።
desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say nor about what they strongly affirm.
1:8
οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι καλὸς ὁ νόμος ἐάν τις αὐτῷ νομίμως χρῆται,
Scimus autem quia bona est lex si quis ea legitime utatur :
ነአምር ከመ ሠናይ ውእቱ ኦሪት ለዘይገብሮ በሕጉ።
But we know that the law is good if a person uses it lawfully,

εἰδὼς τοῦτο, ὅτι δικαίῳ νόμος οὐ κεῖται, ἀνόμοις δὲ καὶ ἀνυποτάκτοις, ἀσεβέσι καὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς, ἀνοσίοις καὶ Βεβήλοις, πατρολῴαις καὶ μητρολῴαις, ἀνδροφόνοις,
sciens hoc quia lex justo non est posita, sed injustis, et non subditis, impiis, et peccatoribus, sceleratis, et contaminatis, parricidis, et matricidis, homicidis,
ወነአምር ዘኒ ከመ አኮ ለጻድቃን ዘይሠራዕ ሕግ ዘእንበለ ለኃጥኣን ወለጽልሕዋን ወለዝሉፋን ወለውፁኣን እምጽድቅ ወለርኩሳነ ልብ ወቀተልተ አበዊሆሙ ወእሞሙ ወቀተልተ አዝማዲሆሙ ወቀተልተ ነፍስ።
as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1:10
πόρνοις, ἀρσενοκοίταις, ἀνδραποδισταῖς, ψεύσταις, ἐπιόρκοις, καὶ εἴ τι ἕτερον τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀντίκειται,
fornicariis, masculorum concubitoribus, plagiariis, mendacibus, et perjuris, et si quid aliud sanae doctrinae adversatur,
ዘማውያን ወእለ የሐውሩ ኀበ ብእሲተ ብእሲ ሰረቅተ ሰብእ ሐሳውያን ወእለ ይምሕሉ በሐሰት።
for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine,
1:11
κατὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς δόξης τοῦ μακαρίου θεοῦ, ὃ ἐπιστεύθην ἐγώ.
quae est secundum Evangelium gloriae beati Dei, quod creditum est mihi.
ወቦ ባዕድኒ ዓዲ በዘይትቃወምዋ ለትምህርተ ሕይወት ዘወንጌለ ስብሐቲሁ ለብፁዕ እግዚአብሔር ዘአነ ተአመንኩ ቦቱ።
according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1:12
χάριν ἔχω τῷ ἐνδυναμώσαντί με Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν, ὅτι πιστόν με ἡγήσατο θέμενος εἰς διακονίαν,
Gratias ago ei, qui me confortavit, Christo Jesu Domino nostro, quia fidelem me existimavit, ponens in ministerio :
አአኵቶ ለዘተአመነኒ ወአጽንዐኒ በክርስቶስ ኢየሱስ እግዚእነ እስመ ምእመነ ረሰየኒ ለመልእክቱ።
I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service,
1:13
τὸ πρότερον ὄντα βλάσφημον καὶ διώκτην καὶ ὑβριστήν· ἀλλὰ ἠλεήθην, ὅτι ἀγνοῶν ἐποίησα ἐν ἀπιστίᾳ,
qui prius blasphemus fui, et persecutor, et contumeliosus : sed misericordiam Dei consecutus sum, quia ignorans feci in incredulitate.
እንዘ ቀዲሙ ፀራፊ አነ ወሰዳዲ ወጸኣሊ ወባሕቱ ተሣሀለኒ እስመ በኢያእምሮ ገበርኩ በኢአሚን።
although I used to be a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1:14
ὑπερεπλεόνασεν δὲ ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν μετὰ πίστεως καὶ ἀγάπης τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ.
Superabundavit autem gratia Domini nostri cum fide, et dilectione, quae est in Christo Jesu.
ወፈድፈደ ጸጋሁ ለእግዚአብሔር በላዕሌየ ወሃይማኖቱ ወፍቅሩ ለኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ እግዚእነ።
The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1:15
πιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος, ὅτι Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἁμαρτωλοὺς σῶσαι, ὧν πρῶτός εἰμι ἐγώ·
Fidelis sermo, et omni acceptione dignus : quod Christus Jesus venit in hunc mundum peccatores salvos facere, quorum primus ego sum.
እሙን ነገሩ ወርቱዕ ይትወከፍዎ በኵሉ እስመ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ መጽአ ውስተ ዓለም ከመ ያድኅኖሙ ለኃጥኣን ዘአነ ቀዳሚሆሙ።
The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
1:16
ἀλλὰ διὰ τοῦτο ἠλεήθην, ἵνα ἐν ἐμοὶ πρώτῳ ἐνδείξηται Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς τὴν ἅπασαν μακροθυμίαν, πρὸς ὑποτύπωσιν τῶν μελλόντων πιστεύειν ἐπ’ αὐτῷ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.
Sed ideo misericordiam consecutus sum : ut in me primo ostenderet Christus Jesus omnem patientiam ad informationem eorum, qui credituri sunt illi, in vitam aeternam.
ወባሕቱ ተሣሀለኒ ከመ ያርኢ ተአምራቲሁ በላዕሌየ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ በብዝኀ ትዕግሥቱ ወእኩኖሙ አርኣያ ለእለ የአምኑ ቦቱ ለሕይወት ዘለዓለም።
However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.
1:17
τῷ δὲ βασιλεῖ τῶν αἰώνων, ἀφθάρτῳ, ἀοράτῳ, μόνῳ θεῷ, τιμὴ καὶ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων· ἀμήν.
Regi autem saeculorum immortali, invisibili, soli Deo honor et gloria in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
ንጉሥ ዘለዓለም ዘኢይመውት ወኢያስተርኢ አምላክ ባሕቲቱ ዘሎቱ ክብር ወስብሐት ለዓለመ ዓለም አሜን።
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1:18
Ταύτην τὴν παραγγελίαν παρατίθεμαί σοι, τέκνον Τιμόθεε, κατὰ τὰς προαγούσας ἐπὶ σὲ προφητείας, ἵνα στρατεύῃ ἐν αὐταῖς τὴν καλὴν στρατείαν,
Hoc praeceptum commendo tibi, fili Timothee, secundum praecedentes in te prophetias, ut milites in illis bonam militiam,
ዘንተ ትእዛዘ አማሕፀንኩከ ኦ ወልድየ ጢሞቴዎስ በከመ ተነብዮ ዘላዕሌከ ከመ ትጽናዕ በኵሉ ገድል ሠናይ።
I commit this instruction to you, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which were given to you before, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
1:19
ἔχων πίστιν καὶ ἀγαθὴν συνείδησιν, ἥν τινες ἀπωσάμενοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν ἐναυάγησαν·
habens fidem, et bonam conscientiam, quam quidam repellentes, circa fidem naufragaverunt :
እንዘ ብከ ሃይማኖት ወሠናይ ግዕዝ እስመ ሀለዉ እለ አውከኩ እምሃይማኖት ወተሰብሩሂ።
holding faith and a good conscience, which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning the faith,
1:20
ὧν ἐστιν Ὑμέναιος καὶ Ἀλέξανδρος, οὓς παρέδωκα τῷ σατανᾷ ἵνα παιδευθῶσιν μὴ βλασφημεῖν.
ex quibus est Hymenaeus, et Alexander : quos tradidi Satanae, ut discant non blasphemare.
እለ ሄሜኔዎስ ወእለ እስክንድሮስ እለ መጠውክዎሙ ለሰይጣን ይትኰነኑ ኢይልመዱ ፀሪፈ።
of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
